Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Betrayal (2)

He roared in pain and surprise, spinning around to face the direction the arrow had come from. Another arrow followed immediately, burying itself in his thigh. And another, this one piercing his side.

[StormGod]: What is happening? Who is shooting?

[WarGod]: Goblins! There must be more of them!

[TricksterGod]: Hidden in the shadows! Smart little bastards!

I saw them then — goblins emerging from concealed positions in the chamber's corners. Not just a few, but dozens of them, all armed with bows and arrows. They'd been watching, waiting for the right moment to strike.

The warrior roared in rage, pulling the arrows from his body with brutal force, blood spurting from his wounds. He raised his greatsword, preparing to charge the goblin archers, but his legs gave way beneath him.

The paralysis was finally taking full effect. His body refused to obey him, his limbs heavy and unresponsive. He crashed to the ground, his massive frame landing heavily beside Aria.

[HarvestGod]: He's down! The poison finally caught up with him!

[LoveGoddess]: But he's still dangerous! Even paralyzed, he could kill her!

The warrior thrashed on the ground, his body fighting against the toxin, his hands grasping for Aria. She tried to scramble away, but her own body was too weak, her limbs refusing to respond properly. She was trapped beside him, unable to escape.

Then the chamber shook. A deep rumbling echoed through the stone, and the wall behind them — the wall I'd been hiding against — began to crack.

[StormGod]: What's happening? An earthquake?

[TricksterGod]: No! Look! The wall is breaking!

With a thunderous crash, the wall gave way, collapsing inward in a shower of stone and dust. The warrior and Aria were swept away, falling through the newly created opening into the darkness beyond.

[WarGod]: They fell! Both of them!

[LoveGoddess]: Where does it lead? Is it safe?

[TricksterGod]: Who knows? But the slime is still here!

I was. I'd managed to avoid the collapsing wall, my body pressing flat against the floor as the stone fell around me. Now I watched as the dust settled, revealing a dark tunnel where the wall had been.

The sounds of the goblins echoed from the main chamber — shouts of victory, the rough laughter of creatures who had brought down a powerful enemy. But they weren't coming this way. They were focused on the fallen warrior's equipment, on the weapons and armor they could scavenge.

Except for one group.

I saw them through the settling dust — a half-dozen goblins dragging the unconscious female warrior away by her ankles. Her body was limp, her head lolling with each jarring movement, completely at their mercy.

One of the goblins noticed her slight movement and laughed, kicking her in the side. "She wakes! Good! More fun for us!"

The female warrior's eyes fluttered open, glazed and unfocused. She tried to speak, to call for help, but the paralysis had stolen her voice. All that emerged was a weak, breathless sound.

[HarvestGod]: They're taking her! The goblins are taking the female warrior!

[LoveGoddess]: We have to do something! We can't let them…

[TricksterGod]: Do what? We can't interfere! We're just watching!

I understood the truth of his words. The gods could only watch. But I…

I was more than just a observer now. I had absorbed the goblin's memories, gained its instincts. I understood what these creatures were, what they would do to a captive

woman. The goblin memories were very clear on that point.

I turned my attention to the dark tunnel where the warrior and Aria had fallen. This was my chance. This was what the instincts were telling me to do.

My body flowed forward, slipping through the hole in the wall and into the darkness beyond. The tunnel was steep, descending sharply into unknown depths. I could hear the sounds of the warrior and Aria falling ahead of me — the clatter of armor, soft cries of fear, the impact of bodies against stone.

[LustGod]: It's following them! Going into the dark!

[TricksterGod]: Brave or stupid? Hard to tell.

[LoveGoddess]: Please let them be okay! Please!

I moved quickly, my body sliding down the steep slope. The tunnel was rough, jagged stone tearing at my surface, but I absorbed the damage as I went, using the stone to heal myself. I was learning, adapting, growing stronger with every challenge.

Ahead, the tunnel opened into a larger chamber. I could see them — the warrior and Aria, lying in a heap at the bottom of the slope. The warrior was unconscious, his body broken from the fall. Aria was barely conscious, her body bruised and battered, her torn robes offering little protection or modesty.

[HarvestGod]: They survived the fall! Barely!

[WarGod]: The warrior is out cold. Perfect opportunity.

[LustGod]: …yes. Perfect.

I approached slowly, my body spreading across the stone floor. The goblin instincts whispered strategies, tactics, ways to take advantage of the situation. But I didn't need them. My own desires were clear enough.

I wanted Aria. I wanted to claim her, to make her mine, to do to her what the warrior had intended — but on my terms.

But first, I needed to understand more. To learn. To grow.

I moved to the warrior's unconscious form and began to absorb him. Not completely — just enough to gain his knowledge, his memories, his understanding of this world. The process was slow, careful, but the information flowed into me like water.

I learned about the surface world. About cities and kingdoms, about magic and commerce, about the structure of adventuring parties and the politics of guilds. I learned about the artifact the warrior had sought, and why it was so valuable.

And I learned about Aria — not just her skills as a healer, but her background, her training, the reasons she'd become an adventurer. The warrior had researched his companions thoroughly, looking for weaknesses to exploit.

[TricksterGod]: It's absorbing him! Learning everything he knew!

[StormGod]: That's… actually really smart.

[LoveGoddess]: But is it going to hurt Aria? Please don't let it hurt her!

I finished absorbing what I could from the warrior, leaving his body alive but drained. Then I turned my attention to Aria.

She was watching me now, her eyes wide with a mixture of fear and curiosity. The aphrodisiac still coursed through her veins, making her skin flush and her breathing rapid. She couldn't move, couldn't speak, but she was aware of everything happening.

I flowed closer, my body spreading across the stone until I was beside her. I could feel her warmth, her softness, the rapid beating of her heart. The goblin instincts screamed at me to take her, to claim her, to mate with her right there.

But I held back. I wanted more than just physical satisfaction. I wanted understanding. Connection.

I extended a small tendril, touching her arm gently. Aria flinched at the contact, but didn't pull away. She couldn't.

[LustGod]: YES! Touch her!

[LoveGoddess]: Be gentle! She's been through so much!

[TricksterGod]: This is it. The moment everything changes.

I let my tendril explore her skin, learning the texture, the warmth, the subtle reactions of her body. I absorbed tiny amounts of her essence — not enough to harm her, but enough to begin understanding her on a deeper level.

And as I did, something unexpected happened.

I felt her mind. Not just her thoughts or memories, but her emotions — her fear, her confusion, her exhaustion, and beneath it all, a core of strength and determination that had nothing to do with magic or training.

Aria was more than just a healer. She was a survivor. A woman who had chosen this dangerous life for reasons of her own, who had faced death countless times and never backed down.

[HarvestGod]: It's connecting with her! On a mental level!

[StormGod]: That's not normal slime behavior. That's… something else.

[TricksterGod]: Our little blob is full of surprises.

I withdrew my tendril, leaving Aria unharmed but changed. She was watching me with different eyes now — less fear, more curiosity. The aphrodisiac still affected her, but there was something else in her expression too.

Understanding.

Above us, far above, the sounds of goblins echoed through the tunnel. The female warrior's screams had faded, but I knew what was happening to her. The goblin memories were very clear on what they did to captive women.

But I couldn't help her. Not yet. I was still too small, too weak. I needed to grow stronger, to gain more power, before I could take on a goblin pack and rescue a fallen warrior.

So I made a choice.

I turned my back on the tunnel leading upward, back to the main chamber where the goblins celebrated their victory. I turned my attention to the darkness below, to the deeper levels of the dungeon where the warrior had sought his treasure.

I would go deeper. I would grow stronger. And when I was ready, I would return.

[WarGod]: Going deeper? Bold move.

[LustGod]: And leaving the women behind? For now?

[TricksterGod]: It's planning. Long-term strategy. I like it.

I began to move, flowing away from Aria and the unconscious warrior, toward the unknown depths below. Aria watched me go, her eyes following my movement with something that looked almost like regret.

But she couldn't stop me. None of them could.

I was User_4729X. I was a slime, a god's entertainment, a creature of instinct and growing purpose. And I was just getting started.

The chat continued its commentary behind me, but I barely heard it. My focus was forward, into the darkness, toward whatever challenges and opportunities awaited in the deep.

I would come back for them. All of them.

But first, I had to become something more.
