CHAPTER — YOU DID THIS
Jayjay's POV
"Jayjay."
His voice stopped me.
I didn't turn.
I already knew it was him.
Keifer Watson
"Talk to me."
Silence.
My fingers tightened slightly at my sides.
"I am talking," I said flatly.
My voice…
It didn't sound like me.
It didn't shake.
Didn't break.
It was just… empty.
---
"That's not talking," he said. "That's avoiding."
I let out a small breath.
Then slowly—
I turned.
And faced him.
---
For a second—
Something flickered in his eyes.
Maybe because I wasn't stepping back this time.
Maybe because I wasn't flinching.
Not anymore.
---
"What do you want?" I asked.
Straight.
Distant.
---
His jaw tightened slightly.
"This—" he gestured slightly between us. "This isn't normal."
A small, humorless smile touched my lips.
"Normal?" I repeated softly. "You want normal?"
I shook my head.
"You don't get to ask for that."
---
Silence.
Heavy.
---
"You've been avoiding me," he said.
"Yes."
No hesitation.
No denial.
---
"Why?"
That question.
That simple question.
Something inside me… snapped.
---
I looked at him.
Really looked this time.
And for the first time—
I didn't feel small.
I didn't feel scared.
Just…
Tired.
---
"You really don't know?" I asked quietly.
---
He didn't answer.
But his eyes didn't leave mine.
---
"Fine," I nodded slightly. "I'll tell you."
My voice stayed calm.
Too calm.
---
"I saw you."
A pause.
"...What?"
"In the kitchen," I said. "With her."
His expression shifted slightly.
Just a little.
But I saw it.
---
"You were smiling," I continued. "Comfortable."
My chest tightened—but I didn't let it show.
"You've never looked like that with me."
---
Silence.
---
"And then," I added softly, "you kissed her."
The words came out steady.
But they burned.
---
His jaw clenched.
"Jay—"
I cut him off.
"No."
My voice sharpened slightly.
"Don't."
---
I shook my head.
"I asked you who she was," I continued. "You snapped at me. Like I had no right to even ask."
A small, bitter laugh escaped me.
"And maybe I don't."
---
I looked away for a second.
Then back at him.
Colder now.
---
"But you didn't stop there."
My voice dropped slightly.
"You ignored me."
"Like I was nothing."
---
Silence filled the space again.
But I wasn't done.
Not yet.
---
"And that night…" I whispered.
My fingers curled slightly.
I could feel it again.
The screams.
The blood.
---
"You dragged me there."
"You made me watch."
My voice cracked—
Just a little.
But I kept going.
---
"I begged you to stop."
"I was crying."
"And you didn't even look at me."
---
His expression changed.
More serious now.
More… affected.
But it didn't matter.
---
"You don't get to ask me why I'm avoiding you," I said quietly.
"Because you already know the answer."
---
I stepped back.
Not out of fear.
Just distance.
---
"You made me feel like I don't matter," I continued.
"Like I'm just… something placed in your house."
---
My throat tightened.
But I swallowed it down.
---
"And now you're asking me to act normal?"
I shook my head slowly.
"No."
---
My voice softened.
But it wasn't warm.
It was empty.
---
"You don't get that from me anymore."
---
Silence.
---
For a moment—
Neither of us moved.
---
Then I turned.
And walked away.
Not fast.
Not rushed.
Just… done.
---
Keifer's POV
I didn't stop her.
Not this time.
---
Because I couldn't.
---
Her words—
They stayed.
Every single one of them.
---
"You kissed her."
That wasn't what happened.
But from what she saw—
It was.
---
"You ignored me."
…
I did.
---
"You made me watch."
My jaw tightened.
I exhaled slowly.
---
"I begged you to stop."
…
She did.
---
"And you didn't even look at me."
---
Silence filled the room.
Heavy.
Unavoidable.
---
I ran a hand through my hair, frustration building in my chest.
Not at her.
At myself.
---
She wasn't wrong.
Not really.
---
I thought she was overreacting.
Weak.
Too soft for this world.
---
But I was the one who forced her into it.
---
My gaze shifted toward the direction she left.
Empty.
Quiet.
---
And something about that—
Didn't sit right.
---
She didn't flinch this time.
Didn't step back in fear.
Didn't look at me like I'd hurt her.
---
No.
This was worse.
---
She looked at me like—
I didn't matter.
---
I exhaled sharply.
"Damn it."
---
That wasn't supposed to happen.
She wasn't supposed to change like this.
---
But she did.
Because of me.
---
And for the first time—
I realized something clearly.
---
I don't like this distance.
I don't like her silence.
And I definitely don't like the way she stopped looking at me.
---
"…Idiot."
I muttered it under my breath.
But I knew exactly who I meant
