Chapter 12 - CHAPTER 10 HUNTING 2

The next day came quietly.

No change in the sky.

No change in the forest.

Only a slight change within them.

Han Chandu and Han Sen stepped out once again, their movements steady, their expressions calm, but their approach different now, because after facing something far beyond their level, they understood one thing clearly—

Recklessness would kill them faster than weakness ever could.

"…outer area only," Han Sen said.

Han Chandu nodded.

No disagreement.

No hesitation.

They moved along the edges of the forest, avoiding deeper paths, avoiding unknown sounds, avoiding anything that felt even slightly off, their senses stretched thin as they searched for something manageable, something they could actually handle.

Time passed.

Then—

A rustle.

Small.

Light.

Both of them stopped.

Their eyes shifted.

A familiar creature stepped out.

Weaker.

Normal.

Nothing like yesterday.

Han Sen exhaled quietly.

"…this one we can do."

Han Chandu didn't reply.

He moved.

Direct.

Controlled.

The creature reacted instantly, but slower than the one from before, its movements predictable, its attacks easier to read, easier to counter.

Han Sen moved from the side.

Cutting its path.

Forcing it to adjust.

Han Chandu stepped in.

His fist shot forward.

Cleaner than before.

Sharper.

More controlled.

The creature staggered.

Han Sen followed.

A kick.

Direct.

The creature collapsed.

Han Chandu finished it.

Silence.

Both of them waited.

Han Sen glanced at him.

"…anything?"

Han Chandu looked forward.

Calm.

"…no."

A lie.

A small one.

Because in that moment—

A panel had already appeared.

[ Notification ]

→ Basic Creature Killed

→ No Beast Soul Obtained

Nothing valuable.

Nothing worth mentioning.

They moved on.

Another hunt.

Another kill.

Slow.

Steady.

Careful.

They didn't rush.

Didn't take risks.

Every fight controlled.

Every movement measured.

Because survival mattered more than speed.

Time passed.

Their bodies grew heavier.

Fatigue returned.

And then—

Hunger.

They stopped.

Prepared the meat.

Sat.

And ate.

Silently.

Waiting.

Then—

The panel appeared.

[ Notification ]

→ Basic Creature Meat Consumed

→ Ordinary Gene +2

Han Sen let out a small breath.

"…better than yesterday."

Han Chandu glanced at his own panel.

[ Status Update ]

Ordinary Genes → 3 / 100

A small increase.

Barely noticeable.

But real.

His body felt slightly lighter.

His breathing steadier.

Not stronger.

Not yet.

But improving.

Han Sen stretched his arm slightly.

"…still too slow."

Han Chandu stood up.

"…it's enough."

Han Sen looked at him.

"…you think so?"

"…we're still alive."

Simple.

Direct.

Han Sen paused.

Then—

A faint smirk.

"…fair point."

They continued.

Another creature.

Another fight.

Same result.

No Beast Soul.

More effort.

More fatigue.

More repetition.

As the day went on, the rhythm became clear—

Hunt.

Kill.

Eat.

Gain.

Repeat.

No shortcuts.

No sudden jumps.

Only slow progress.

And that was enough.

As the sun began to lower, they turned back toward the shelter, their steps heavier, their bodies tired, but their minds clearer than before.

Because now—

They understood something important.

Strength here wasn't about luck.

It wasn't about talent.

It was about consistency.

Han Sen exhaled as they walked.

"…we keep this up… we'll get there."

Han Chandu didn't look at him.

His gaze remained forward.

Calm.

Steady.

"…we will."

Not hope.

Not belief.

Certainty.

Because even if it was slow—

Even if it took time—

They were moving forward.

And as long as that continued—

Nothing else mattered.

Behind them, the forest remained silent.

Unchanged.

Waiting.

And ahead of them—

The path was still long.

But now—

They had already taken another step.
