Chapter 43 - Chapter 43 Spring Comes and Winter Goes

Sofia stood there with her head down, somewhat worried, afraid that her record was not good enough.

Because after the lord read the parchment she had written on, he didn't say anything and just stood there without moving.

Actually, she had misunderstood the lord. Ed didn't say anything, but was just surprised by the meticulousness of the record.

"I never imagined a little girl could record things so well," Ed said, putting down the parchment and looking at the little girl, Sophia.

"Your name is Sophia? Your records are very good, but you need to record all the symptoms clearly and the treatment methods in detail so that we can quickly diagnose and treat the same disease next time."

"Yes, my lord, I will add it later. I will correct this habit in the future. Thank you for reminding me." Sophia's voice was very pleasant.

Ed left the table full of parchment and went to the wooden shelf full of bottles and jars. His main purpose in coming here was to see if there was any sulfur.

Looking at the messy shelves, piled high with bottles and jars, Ed figured even if there were any, they'd be hard to spot.

"Sophia, come here for a second, what's this?"

Ed wanted to see if Sophia recognized these things; he just wanted to test the little girl. Sophia quickly came to the wooden shelf.

"This is bat droppings," Sofia recognized it at a glance.

What about this one?

Ed pointed to another one and continued to ask.

"This contains 'bloodworms' (leeches)."

"Hmm, very good. It seems you're not far from becoming a true healer."

Ed acknowledged Sophia's expertise.

Are there any yellow stones here?

"A yellow stone? Let me think." Sophia quickly looked around; the room was a mess, so finding what she wanted at a glance was a bit difficult.

"Oh, my lord, my steward Marcus brought back some yellow stones and asked me if they were useful. I studied them for a long time but couldn't find any use for them. In fact, they had a strange smell, so I threw them under the bed."

At that moment, Gisela's voice rang out.

"Let me see it," Ed quickly ordered.

Soon a yellow stone appeared in Ed's hand. The moment he picked it up, Ed confirmed that it was indeed what he was looking for.

"My lord, what is the use of this stone?" Sophia asked curiously, looking at the stone in Ed's hand.

"I wonder what you all think about insects now?" Ed asked Sophia.

In the past, Sofia would have answered very quickly.

Insects are insects, big ones, small ones, flying ones, swimming ones—you can tell what they look like.

However, after the last treatment, she learned that worms could live inside a person's stomach, and that these worms were white and thin.

This gave her a deeper understanding of insects.

Ed looked at the two who hadn't answered for a long time and said:

"I once had a dream in which an old man wearing an exquisite robe and surrounded by golden light told me a lot about insects, but I didn't believe it myself and thought it was just a dream. After Andrew's illness last time, I didn't expect it to be real. And this time, I suspect that the itching is also caused by insects, and this yellow stone is useful for dealing with these insects."

"ah!"

Both of them were somewhat surprised, unsure whether it was Ed's dream or the fact that this itching was caused by insects again.

"Then how should it be treated?" Sophia asked.

Ed thought for a moment and said:

"We can't see this bug, and it can spread to other people. First, we need to isolate the sick person and boil all their clothes to kill the bug. Then we need to apply this yellow stone to the itchy areas."

"How can I apply paint to such a hard stone?" Sophia observed very carefully.

Ed gave her an approving look.

"First, grind this stone into powder, remove the parts that can't be ground, then burn it with fire until it melts. After it dries, grind it into powder again, add some oil, and you can apply it."

"My lord, what is the name of this stone?" Sophia asked quickly.

She needs to know the name, otherwise she can't record the prescription.

"sulfur"
