Chapter 53 - Chapter 53 The Road Home

"Hurry up, leave now!" Ed said urgently to the group.

Without hesitation, everyone rushed on their way, leaving no time to admire the scenery.

Fortunately, fate favors kind people; no one chased after them, or perhaps they simply couldn't catch up.

Ed was somewhat relieved; whatever the reason, at least they were safe for the time being.

Soon the group arrived at the riverbank where they had come from. This time they did not stop and continued on their way.

For them, only when they reached the temporary camp would they feel safe.

"Master, look! That's the camp where we first arrived!" Adelaide's happy voice rang out.

Everyone looked in the direction of the sound, and their tense nerves finally relaxed.

"Master, I'm really tired!" Adelaide said wearily, sitting on the ground.

Everyone nodded in agreement; the long run had been incredibly arduous.

"Let's light a fire and prepare some food; we'll spend the night here."

After leaving one person to keep watch, the others got busy.

...

"Oh dear! Father is so scary!" Little Carly cried as she ran in from outside.

"Carly, where have you been again? You're all dirty."

The middle-aged man was very annoyed by the little girl Carly, who had no manners whatsoever of a noble lady.

"Ah! I secretly followed that stranger," the little girl Carly replied somewhat fearfully.

"Why did you follow them? This is not the behavior of a noble lady."

The little girl, Carly, ignored her father's accusations. Instead, she asked the middle-aged man mysteriously, "Father, guess what I saw?"

"What could it be? Those bandits robbed outsiders?" the middle-aged man said without hesitation.

"No," the little girl Carly shook her head.

"No?" the middle-aged man asked, somewhat puzzled.

"Could it be that outsiders robbed the bandits?" The middle-aged man asked, looking at the little girl Carly with some uncertainty.

"No," Carly shook her head.

Not yet? Then what's going on?

"Could it be that they fought and both sides died?" If that were the case, he would be quite happy.

But I still feel a pang of sympathy for those from other places.

"No, it was that burly fellow who killed the wise second leader with a single arrow. That's amazing! The distance was twice that of an ordinary bow and arrow."

"Ah!" This time it was the middle-aged man's turn to be surprised.

"Really? Carly, that person really killed the second leader with a shot from twice the distance of a regular bow?"

"It's true. The second leader was wearing leather armor, and he was shot down with a single arrow. I saw it very clearly."

"What kind of bow and arrow is this? Should I buy one?" the middle-aged man muttered to himself.

"Carly, what happened next? Did the outsider leave?"

The little girl, Carly, patted her chest in lingering fear, thinking that if that arrow had hit her, she might have been sent flying.

"Yes, they've all left, and I don't dare go anymore."

"I wonder if this outsider will come again?" the middle-aged man muttered to himself.

"Father, I don't think he will come anytime soon, because the salt can last a long time, and the bandits might come looking for him, so he wouldn't dare to come unless he can't find salt elsewhere."

"Hmm, that makes some sense, but this outsider is really something! He has such a powerful bow and arrow, and exquisitely crafted gloves. Could we ask him to cooperate?"

"Father, why would anyone look up to us? If they wanted to sell these things in large quantities, they would definitely go to the lord. You have nothing, why would anyone come to you?"

"Carly, I'm a noblewoman too, you know?" the middle-aged man argued.

"Father, you are just a destitute nobleman without any land. Face this reality!"
