"But, I still don't know how to get stronger. Those regular exercises do not help."
Miya grumbled.
"It's easy. There are three simple ways to break your limits. First, battle! Second, different training! Third, External help!"
Tyler raised his index finger and said.
"Battle is the most common way to get stronger for a pirate. So, I won't talk about it. External help requires a Devil Fruit or technology."
"Both of them are out of our reach for now."
At this moment, Miya raised her hand and said.
"Captain, I don't want to eat a Devil Fruit unless we get several non-Devil Fruit users in our crew."
Hearing that, Tyler smiled and nodded.
"Don't worry about that, Miya! We can find one or two fishmen as crew members. With their presence, we won't have to worry about sinking."
"As for Devil Fruit, I do know the presence of a certain Devil Fruit in the Grandline. But we have to get there first."
"So, let's just focus on the training method. It's actually simple. I told you about Finger Gun and Shave before, right?"
Hearing that, Frank shook his head.
"You only mentioned their names."
Tyler released a deep breath and said.
"Shave is a technique developed by Marines. This technique allows them to move at an extraordinary speed, almost like teleportation at a short distance."
When they heard that, Frank's eyes darkened.
"No wonder that man moved so fast. I thought it was due to his Devil Fruit."
Tyler continued.
"Normally, I wouldn't be confident in practicing a move like that without proper instructions, but I know a little bit about the Grandline Pirates."
"Almost every single powerful pirate can move at an extraordinary speed. So, I assume that they produce an explosive force from their feet."
"They don't need to follow Marine's Shave training style by constantly smashing the ground with their feet for more than a dozen times within three seconds."
"Instead, they should be strong enough to produce a similar level of speed with a single stomp. But there is one difference."
"A trained Shave user can constantly teleport around the battlefield which most pirates can't achieve."
Tyler couldn't help but remember how Lucci was constantly moving around Luffy during their fight in Egghead Island.
While that fight was completely dominated by Luffy, their difference was quite big, so the importance of Shave was still quite high.
Because Luffy had Future Sight, something that CP0 agents like Lucci couldn't awaken, or at least wasn't shown to have.
That meant Lucci was able to keep up with Gear Fifth Luffy using Shave with the combination of his Devil Fruit.
Luffy in Gear Fifth was several dozen times faster than Gear Fourth Luffy to the point that Kizaru, who could easily fight Gear Fourth Luffy, was left helpless.
This was Kizaru, the man with Glint Glint Fruit, the fastest person in the One Piece world.
So, for Lucci to keep up with nonchalant Gear Fifth Luffy using his Shave proved the importance of this technique till the endgame.
That's why Tyler wanted his crew to practice this move.
"So, I have to stomp the ground several times and produce explosive force that propels me forward?"
Frank asked.
Tyler nodded.
"Yeah! The best way to train this move is by using weights around your legs. This way, you will get better results for your training."
"But Frank, I suggest you not practice this move yet. You should start with basic exercises."
"When you can do five thousand push-ups, five thousand sit-ups, five thousand squats, and fifty kilometer run without much trouble, you can start your training with Shave."
Frank rubbed his head with dissatisfaction, but he didn't raise any objection. He understood that despite his age, Tyler knew a lot more about the world.
This made him have better trust in his ideas.
"So, I can start my training, Captain?" Miya excitedly asked.
"Nope!"
"Why?"
Miya roared, sulking on the side.
"Because this boat can't handle your Shave training. As I said before, you need to produce explosive force underneath your feet."
"That kind of force without proper control can easily tear through the deck. In fact, you don't need to train that much for a few days."
"Once we get to another island, you can start your training."
Tyler said while pointing at the planks underneath their feet.
"I understand, Captain!"
Miya murmured, but she quickly washed her hands and plates before taking out the bags that they got from that ship.
"Captain, how about we share this loot?"
Looking at her covetous expression, Tyler helplessly sighed.
"Alright, Miya! You can take care of the ship's treasures. I don't really have that much need for these berries, but when the crew needs them, you need to give them to us."
"Really? That means I am the treasurer of this ship. Hooray!"
Miya excitedly hugged her captain before running back to the bag as she started opening it, separating berries and gold from other things.
"Is this okay?" Frank gave him a blank expression and asked.
He couldn't understand why his Captain would give such an important job to a greedy girl like Miya.
Tyler shook his head and said.
"Compared to us, she can keep the money safe. Although she is greedy, she also knows the pain of not having money."
"On the other hand, if we keep it, we might simply overspend on things. So, let her keep it!"
Frank gave him a deep look and nodded.
'He is getting more and more powerful. I thought it was simply to satisfy her need, but it turned out he had another reason behind such a straightforward move.'
Tyler didn't understand why Frank was giving him such a look. Instead, his eyes fell on a certain item from the bag.
After washing his hands and plates, he went to retrieve that item. It was a broad sword.
It was similar to Xiao Yan's sword from Battle Through the Heavens except for its red exterior and no markings.
It also had a sharper edge on one side, like a katana.
He grabbed the hilt of this Heavy Sword and spun it.
Whoosh!
Its sharpness tore through the air, creating a sharp noise.
"Whoa! Captain, be careful while swinging such a big sword."
When Miya saw the sword moving towards the mast, she shouted. But Tyler had already stopped.
He pulled the sword in front of him, holding the blunt edge with his left hand.
"I have decided. I will use this sword from now on."
"Hmm! Considering your Mythical Zoan Fruit, it does make sense to use a heavier weapon, but is a sword the right option for you?"
Frank asked.
Tyler nodded his head.
"I said anybody can get stronger before, and that is true. But there are some second generations in this world who can shorten the time with talent."
"It's not that they don't need to train. But they can achieve at least five to ten times the result with similar effort as any ordinary person with the same training."
"So, the son of an ordinary person will spend decades training to become as strong as a Vice Admiral."
"But the son of a powerhouse only needs to spend a year or two. That son of an ordinary person can shorten the time by putting more effort."
"But the son of a powerhouse can also do the same. So, talent matters. And if you want to overcome the barrier of talent, you can only use this."
He said while pointing at his brain.
"How can getting smarter make people stronger?" Miya asked, confused.
"Weapons can help. This is the third method of getting stronger, using external help."
"I can train my fist and legs. But unless I have decades of training with these, I will not get exponentially stronger."
"But if I use a sword and practice proper swordsmanship, I can get stronger faster because there is a clear path for a swordsman."
Hearing that, Frank frowned and asked.
"But swordsmen also need years of training, don't they?"
"They do. They need to train for years to achieve certain results, but as I said, there is a clear path for swordsmanship."
"While this might sound like cheating, if I follow this path and just focus on it, I can increase my offensive abilities."
"With my regular training and Devil Fruit, my defensive capacity will continue to grow. So, I don't need to spend hours punching walls to get stronger."
"But since neither of your are going to follow this path, I don't need to explain it to you."
Hearing that, Frank shrugged his shoulders and started cleaning the pots and pans.
Just as Tyler started swinging his sword, a News Bird flew by them. Its eyes fell on the treasure on his ship, and it slowly got down.
"Caw!"
It pointed its wing at the newspaper bag while shouting at him.
"Wow! This guy is really intelligent."
Tyler couldn't help but whistle when he saw this. He took out thirty-berry coin and tossed them to the bird.
"Caw!"
The News Bird let out a cry before throwing a newspaper at him and flying away.
