"This feels familiar..?"
Hope slowly opened her eyes to analyze the situation then quickly spiraled into panick. 'Damn it! Damn it!'
Apparently, discovering her name had caused her head nausea more than every other word had, which in turn led to her fallling to her demise currently.
The beast had already approached the cliff side and was glaring at her with what seemed like pure malice or hunger, maybe both.
After her mind ran through every possible way to avoid ending her short-lived life, she concluded that grabbing the cliffside to stop her fall would be an impossible feat as she had been falling for around half a minute.
'The only thing I can do is find a way to slow it down even if I lose a limb'
Fortunately and unfortunately for her the cliff side wasn't smooth like typical cliffs would be, but full of rough, needle like stones mixed with cracks on the surface. So gaining hold would be quite easy if she grabbed the right purchase on the cliff, but any mistake would kill her.
Using her non-dominant hand she grabbed the only stone poking off the cliff that would seemed like it wouldn't cleave her in half, then quickly yelped out in pain.
The impact from the fall had hit mostly her left shoulder, and she heard it break and felt her muscles tear.
Unfortunately, the stones failed to bear the weight of her falling body as it soon broke off, the cliff making a sound eerily similar to her bones breaking.
"Aughhh," a low groan escaped her lips, and she had but moments to prepare for landing on the ground.
The stone had not entirely been useless, as it reduced her falling speed enough for her legs to maybe not break.
'Please don't break! Please don't break'
Hope urged her body.
Soon the impact came and she felt it crushing her core and making her legs ache in absolute sorrow. However, she had heard nothing break this time.
'YES!'
Her face was then launched against the cliff at blitzing speeds, for the monster had not waited for her to remember its presence. Shards of the cliff exploded and a human shaped indent was left scarring its surface. Hope fell on her knees coughing up blood and struggling to breathe.
After a while the smoke dissipated and hope looked up full expecting the abomination to lunge at her.
But it stood still? Seemingly keeping its distance and smiling.
That smile was creepily similar to a humans and it made her shiver in pure fear. It was as if a person had been fused into a beast in an unholy fashion and fabricated by flesh to force the being to somehow function.
'This beast… it's mocking me.' Her mind running faster than ever before, her eyes were looking around at feverish speeds trying to determine an escape. Then she laid eyes on it, the bastardly rock that had done nothing but tear her arm. However, the rock reminded her of something she had often seen before. Soon the headache came, but this time her expression had not changed in the slightest.
'Am I getting used to it…?"
Soon she rummaged her brain for any clue why this rock would even stir her mind and quickly procured a word.
'It's similar to a sword… but it's straight garbage compared to the refinement of normal ones!'
Finally rising on her feet she dragged herself to the shard of rock at the most speed her body would allow, which was a slow walk, and picked up the cliff shard.
"GrrrEhhhh!"
It seems the beast would spare her no time.
