Chapter 34 - Chapter 34 — Lips Entwined

Although Yu Sheng verbally agreed to move back to Jiuxi Bay, deep down she still instinctively resisted it.

Rationally, she agreed with Su Qingyu's analysis and understood that maintaining surface-level peace for now—even making use of Shen Yunmian—was most beneficial for Yu Corporation's independence. However, emotionally, a taut string remained stretched within her.

She detested this kind of calculated way of getting along, as if she herself were gradually sliding toward a kind of coldness and utilitarianism she had once despised—becoming similar to Shen Yunmian. She didn't want to become that kind of person.

This inner conflict showed directly in her actions—she began finding all sorts of excuses to delay.

"Tomorrow won't work, there are several important project milestones I need to monitor. It's more convenient to stay near the company."

"The weekend probably won't work either, I have to travel for a new supplier inspection."

Her reasons were always flawless, entirely work-related, leaving Shen Yunmian anxious yet unable to refute them.

After nearly a week of delays, Shen Yunmian's initial joy and anticipation gradually turned into unease.

She wasn't a fool—she could clearly feel Yu Sheng's cold distance.

Her rationality slowly returned, and she realized her earlier eagerness might have backfired, making Yu Sheng want to pull away even more.

She forced herself to calm down. She needed a more natural reason—one Yu Sheng couldn't refuse.

She thought of Qiao Wei.

So, after a joint video conference between the two companies ended, Shen Yunmian casually brought it up in the relaxed closing atmosphere, her tone carefully neutral:

"By the way, Qiao Wei contacted me a few days ago. She's been back in the country for a while but hasn't had a chance to meet up. She wants to invite both of us to dinner. When are you free?"

The excuse was perfect.

Qiao Wei was their mutual friend, and one of Shen Yunmian's few close confidants.

Moreover, when Yu Sheng had just gotten married, she had been curious about Shen Yunmian's social circle and had proactively befriended Qiao Wei. The two got along quite well.

Whether professionally or personally, the invitation was entirely reasonable, with no sense of pressure.

Yu Sheng's fingers paused briefly over her notes.

She glanced at Shen Yunmian's seemingly calm expression on the screen, fully aware this wasn't a casual suggestion.

But she didn't dislike Qiao Wei—she even appreciated her straightforward personality.

After a short silence, she nodded. "Alright. You set the time and place. Let me know when it's decided."

Shen Yunmian quietly let out a breath of relief, her tone lightening. "Okay, I'll arrange it."

After work, Shen Yunmian personally drove to pick her up downstairs at Yu Corporation.

Yu Sheng opened the passenger door, fastened her seatbelt, and turned to look out the window, clearly not in the mood to talk.

Inside the small car, the silence felt especially suffocating. Shen Yunmian gripped the steering wheel, trying to break the tension.

She started with the safest topic: "What do you feel like eating? I can have the chef prepare in advance."

"Anything is fine." Yu Sheng replied coldly.

Shen Yunmian pressed her lips together and continued, "The foie gras at this restaurant is good. Want to try it?"

"Okay." Yu Sheng still showed little interest.

Watching her indifferent profile in the rearview mirror, Shen Yunmian felt a dull ache in her chest.

After hesitating, she couldn't help but show concern: "You seem to have lost some weight lately… no matter how busy work is, you should take care of yourself."

This time, Yu Sheng finally turned to look at her, giving her a strange glance.

As if it were odd hearing such words from a workaholic like her, Shen Yunmian immediately fell silent, embarrassed, focusing on driving and no longer trying to make conversation.

The car fell back into an uncomfortable silence.

Shen Yunmian's heart sank bit by bit.

How had things between them come to this?

They couldn't even manage the most basic conversation, as if separated by an impenetrable wall of ice.

This wasn't what she wanted.

When they arrived at the reserved private restaurant, Qiao Wei was already waiting in the private room.

As soon as she saw them enter, she stood up with a smile. "Finally! I've been waiting for you two busy people!"

Her attitude was warm yet measured.

"Sister Qiao Wei," Yu Sheng greeted with a smile.

"Come sit, take a look at the menu. I've already ordered a few signature dishes—hope they suit your tastes." Qiao Wei pulled Yu Sheng to sit in the middle, seating herself on one side, while Shen Yunmian naturally took the seat across from Yu Sheng.

Qiao Wei's tact was evident from the very beginning.

Throughout the entire meal, she never brought up anything about their relationship, nor did she try to mediate.

She simply shared amusing stories from abroad, recommended interesting niche travel destinations, and joked about strange tourists she had encountered. Her humor quickly made the atmosphere light and enjoyable.

Yu Sheng gradually let her guard down, her eyes showing a hint of longing as she listened.

"That sounds really nice. Once things at the company stabilize, I'd like to take a proper break somewhere."

Qiao Wei immediately chimed in, "Right? Life is short—enjoy it while you can! Hey, Sheng Sheng, is there anywhere you especially want to go? Or something you really want to do?"

Holding her wine glass, Yu Sheng said with a trace of longing, "Actually… I've always wanted to go skiing in Switzerland."

The moment she finished speaking, Shen Yunmian immediately responded, a hint of eagerness in her tone: "I know a few great ski resorts—excellent facilities and safety. If you want to go, once I arrange my schedule, we can go together."

The relaxed smile on Yu Sheng's face instantly faded, her interest gone.

Lowering her gaze, she gently swirled the wine in her glass and only smiled faintly. "We'll see."

Then she subtly changed the topic, asking Qiao Wei about another country's customs.

Shen Yunmian's olive branch was left hanging in midair. The expectation on her face froze, slowly turning into disappointment as she quietly withdrew her gaze.

Qiao Wei took in the subtle interaction between them, inwardly astonished.

Her proud friend, who had always been the one others catered to, was now completely wrapped around Yu Sheng's finger.

To have such a clear gesture of goodwill brushed aside so lightly—and without even getting angry?

Unbelievable.

The meal lasted nearly two hours, the atmosphere remaining pleasant throughout.

Yu Sheng's alcohol tolerance wasn't great, but due to recent stress, she had unknowingly drunk several glasses. A blush gradually spread across her fair cheeks, her gaze becoming slightly unfocused, her reactions a beat slower than usual.

Seeing this, Shen Yunmian softly advised, "Yu Sheng, drink less. You still have work tomorrow."

Yu Sheng felt a bit dizzy herself and nodded obediently, setting down her glass.

After the meal, they chatted briefly before parting at the restaurant entrance.

Qiao Wei called a driver for herself, and before leaving, gave Shen Yunmian a look that clearly said, "Make good use of this chance."

Shen Yunmian supported Yu Sheng, whose steps were slightly unsteady. As her hand wrapped around Yu Sheng's waist, both of them stiffened slightly.

Through the thin fabric, the warmth felt unfamiliar, carrying an undeniable intimacy.

Yu Sheng almost instinctively broke free, steadying herself, her tone guarded. "It's fine, I can manage."

Stung by her obvious rejection, Shen Yunmian felt a pang of regret but didn't dare get closer again. She only hovered a hand near Yu Sheng's arm, ready to catch her if she fell.

The car was already waiting outside. Shen Yunmian helped Yu Sheng into the back seat first.

After a moment's hesitation, she chose not to sit in the front passenger seat but followed into the back, closing the door.

Yu Sheng leaned by the window, eyes closed as if resting, her long lashes casting faint shadows.

The alcohol surged in waves, making her head heavy, though her mind remained clear. Agreeing to move back was one thing—actually facing it was another. Avoiding it indefinitely wasn't a solution. Perhaps tonight, with the help of alcohol, was a chance to settle things.

Her thoughts were in disarray.

Sitting on the other side, Shen Yunmian's gaze kept drifting to Yu Sheng's slightly furrowed brows.

She wanted to reach out and smooth them, but the earlier rejection lingered. She suppressed the impulse, her fingers unconsciously curling.

The car was silent, filled only with the soft hum of the engine.

Shen Yunmian actually wanted to take this chance to bring Yu Sheng straight back to Jiuxi Bay, but seeing how uncomfortable she seemed, she feared angering her again. Carefully, she spoke, her tone tentative:

"Yu Sheng, should I take you back to Jingshui Bay, or…?"

Yu Sheng didn't open her eyes. After a few seconds, she spoke with heavy fatigue:

"…Let's go to Jiuxi Bay."

Shen Yunmian froze, almost thinking she had misheard.

Then, overwhelming joy surged through her like electricity!

Suppressing her excitement, she immediately instructed the driver, "Home. Jiuxi Bay."

"Yes, Miss Shen."

The car drove steadily into the night.

But Shen Yunmian's heart raced wildly. She secretly glanced at Yu Sheng, who still had her eyes closed, as if those words had just been drunken murmurs.

Yet for Shen Yunmian, this was already enormous progress.

The rest of the journey passed in silence.

Yu Sheng seemed to have fallen asleep, while Shen Yunmian was immersed in overwhelming joy and unease, unable to sit still.

When they arrived at Jiuxi Bay, the car slowly drove into the underground garage.

Shen Yunmian got out first and carefully helped Yu Sheng out.

Yu Sheng's steps were unsteady, half leaning against her. The strong scent of alcohol mixed with the faint cool fragrance from her body lingered at Shen Yunmian's nose, stirring her mind.

Aunt Yang, who had already been notified, immediately opened the door and came out to greet them. Seeing Yu Sheng in a drunken state, she was both surprised and concerned. "Oh my, Miss Yu, why did you drink so much? Come in, come in!"

Supporting Yu Sheng, Shen Yunmian walked inside while quietly instructing, "Aunt Yang, go make some sobering soup."

"Alright, I'll go right away." Aunt Yang hurried into the kitchen.

Shen Yunmian helped Yu Sheng straight into the master bedroom.

The room had been prepared with great care. The bedding had been changed to the silk material Yu Sheng liked, her usual skincare products were placed on the vanity, and even the air carried the faint scent of the sleep-aid fragrance she used.

Clearly, Shen Yunmian had long made thorough preparations.

But in her hazy drunken state, Yu Sheng didn't notice these details.

As soon as she touched the soft bed, she lay down, turned over, and faced away from Shen Yunmian, closing her eyes and pretending to sleep. She truly didn't know how to communicate with Shen Yunmian in this state and just wanted to be alone.

Shen Yunmian stood by the bed, looking at her back and the long hair spread across the pillow, her expression complicated.

She went to the bathroom, soaked a towel in warm water, then came back and gently wiped Yu Sheng's face and hands.

Yu Sheng's body stiffened slightly, but she didn't move, maintaining her sleeping posture.

Shen Yunmian set the towel aside, poured a glass of warm water, and placed it on the bedside table. She spoke softly, "Sheng Sheng, drink some water before sleeping? Otherwise, you'll have a headache tomorrow morning."

Her voice was gentle, filled with obvious care and a hint of pleading.

Yu Sheng knew she couldn't avoid it, so she slowly turned over, propped herself up slightly, and took the glass, sipping a little.

The warm water slid down her throat, easing the dryness and discomfort slightly.

"Thank you." She set the glass back down, her voice a little hoarse.

Shen Yunmian sat in the armchair by the bed, looking at her. After hesitating, she couldn't help but speak, her tone carrying a cautious hope:

"Sheng Sheng, I'm really happy you came back. This is our home. I hope… I hope in the future…"

"Shen Yunmian."

Yu Sheng interrupted her, lifting her eyes.

Because of the alcohol, the corners of her eyes were slightly red, carrying a tired indifference.

"Me moving back doesn't mean anything," she said clearly, each word like a small hammer striking Shen Yunmian's newly rekindled hope. "Just like Grandma wants, we can maintain a superficial marriage. In public, we'll act like a harmonious couple, stabilize stock prices, and reassure the family. I'll fulfill my responsibilities and play the role of 'Mrs. Shen' properly, until… until the right time, when we'll divorce."

Shen Yunmian stared at her in shock and quickly interrupted, "No! Yu Sheng, that's not what I want!"

"But it's what I want." Yu Sheng's tone was resolute. "Isn't this better for both of us?"

Looking at Yu Sheng's cold, distant face, the fear of losing her completely overwhelmed Shen Yunmian. She abandoned all pride and restraint, blurting out almost instinctively, her voice carrying a humility she herself didn't even notice:

"Yu Sheng, don't be like this. I was wrong before—I neglected you, hurt you… but I really… I still love you."

Yu Sheng seemed to hear something utterly ridiculous. The alcohol surged, making her head buzz and stripping away her last layer of restraint and patience. "Shen Yunmian, don't you think saying this now is a bit laughable?"

Shen Yunmian didn't understand what was laughable, staring at her blankly.

Yu Sheng rubbed her aching temples, her tone full of impatience and fatigue. "I'm tired. My head hurts. I want to rest. Please leave."

The dismissal was merciless.

All of Shen Yunmian's unfinished words were stuck in her throat. Watching Yu Sheng lie down again with her back turned, clearly unwilling to communicate, a wave of humiliation and loss engulfed her. She opened her mouth but couldn't say anything. In the end, she could only stiffly stand up and leave the master bedroom, gently closing the door.

"…Alright. Rest first."

She walked out in a daze and happened to meet Aunt Yang coming out of the kitchen.

Seeing her devastated expression, Aunt Yang was startled and softly comforted her, "Miss, are you alright? Miss Yu drank too much, she might not have watched her words… don't take it to heart…"

Shen Yunmian shook her head, her voice hoarse. "I'm fine. Is the soup ready?"

"Not yet," Aunt Yang replied.

Shen Yunmian said nothing more and walked toward the guest bedroom with heavy steps. She needed a cold shower to calm down.

In the guest bathroom, water splashed continuously.

Standing under the shower, Shen Yunmian let the cool water run over her body, but it couldn't wash away the heaviness and chill in her heart.

After showering, she changed into clean sleepwear and stepped out, drying her hair with a towel.

At that moment, the phone on the bedside table lit up with a new message.

It was from Qiao Wei.

Qiao Wei: [So? So? Did you take advantage of the situation and win her over in one go?]

Looking at the message, a bitter smile appeared on Shen Yunmian's lips. She picked up her phone and replied with difficulty.

Shen Yunmian: [I got kicked out.]

Qiao Wei: [??? No way! You literally delivered yourself to her and she still didn't want you? Your charm really dropped hard]

Shen Yunmian: [The fact that she's willing to move back is already enough for me. I'll take it slow.]

Qiao Wei: [Slow what! This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance! She used to like you so much, and now she's drunk—her guard is at its lowest. Wear her down, play the nostalgia card, use your looks—she won't be able to resist! Listen to me, be thicker-skinned, lower yourself a bit! Go now!]

Use your looks?

Seeing those four words, Shen Yunmian's ears grew slightly warm, a strong sense of resistance and embarrassment rising within her.

When had she ever done something like this? It completely went against her principles.

But… thinking of Yu Sheng's cold, indifferent eyes, thinking of how she had decisively said the word "divorce," an even deeper fear seized her.

If she did nothing, would she really lose her completely?

Her pride and rationality clashed fiercely in her mind. In the end, her fear of losing Yu Sheng overpowered everything.

She clenched her teeth, as if making a firm decision.

Shen Yunmian walked into the walk-in closet, opened the rarely used bottom drawer, searched for a moment, and her fingers touched a cool, smooth piece of fabric. She paused, then gritted her teeth and took it out.

It was a wine-red silk slip dress, with a deep V neckline, the hem reaching mid-thigh, and a high slit at the side.

Yu Sheng had given it to her after they got married, joking that her fair skin looked stunning in red and coaxing her to wear it. She had reluctantly worn it once, but because it felt too revealing and didn't suit her usual style, she had stuffed it deep into the closet and never touched it again.

Later, seeing she truly didn't like it, Yu Sheng never mentioned it again.

Holding the dress, Shen Yunmian walked to the mirror, hesitated for a moment, then finally changed into it.

The woman in the mirror looked completely different from the meticulous, sharp-suited CEO she usually was.

The wine-red fabric made her skin look even fairer, the deep V neckline revealing her delicate collarbones and a faint hint of cleavage. Beneath the hem, her long, straight legs were subtly visible through the slit. Her usually neatly styled hair was slightly damp, falling loosely over her shoulders, softening her sharpness and adding a touch of allure.

Her face, flushed from the shower and inner conflict, carried a faint blush. Her gaze flickered, holding an unfamiliar charm.

Shen Yunmian almost couldn't bear to look at herself. The feeling was both strange and heart-racing.

In the end, she still couldn't fully accept it. She hurriedly grabbed a silk robe of the same material and draped it over herself, loosely tying the belt to cover most of the view, though her long legs still showed faintly as she moved.

She took a deep breath, as if heading into battle, and opened the door.

Downstairs, Aunt Yang had just brought out the warmed sobering soup.

Shen Yunmian tried to act natural, taking the tray. "I'll do it. You go rest."

"Alright." Aunt Yang responded, giving Shen Yunmian's unusual outfit a curious glance but saying nothing as she returned to her room.

Carrying the tray, Shen Yunmian stopped at the master bedroom door. She listened carefully—there was no sound inside.

She knocked twice and softly called, "Yu Sheng? Are you asleep?"

There was no response.

After waiting a while, she assumed Yu Sheng had fallen asleep.

After hesitating again and again, she found the key to the master bedroom, gently inserted it into the lock, and turned it, producing a soft click.

Holding her breath, Shen Yunmian carefully pushed the door open and walked in with the tray.

Only a dim bedside lamp was on, casting a soft glow. Yu Sheng lay on her side, seemingly asleep, her breathing steady, long hair covering half her face, looking quiet and completely defenseless.

Shen Yunmian placed the tray on the bedside table, her movements so gentle they made almost no sound.

She walked to the bedside, stopped, and lowered her gaze to study Yu Sheng's sleeping face.

The warm light softened the cold sharpness she carried when awake, her long lashes casting faint shadows beneath her eyes.

Shen Yunmian found herself staring, almost entranced—she hadn't looked at her wife this closely in a long time.

She wanted to reach out and touch her cheek, to lean down and kiss her forehead, to pull her into an embrace… countless thoughts surged through her mind, yet her body felt nailed in place, unable to move.

She was afraid that even the slightest movement would wake Yu Sheng, bringing even deeper disgust and rejection.

So she simply stood there, quietly watching for a long, long time.

Desire and reason clashed fiercely within her, like waves crashing over and over against the fragile shore of her restraint.

In the end, she let out an almost inaudible sigh, whispering softly, "Sheng Sheng…"

Shen Yunmian couldn't help but move closer, leaning down beside the bed, half-kneeling as she gazed at Yu Sheng. Because of the alcohol, Yu Sheng's cheeks were flushed an unnatural red, her lashes trembling slightly, her lips especially full and soft-looking…

Shen Yunmian's gaze finally settled on those lips.

A powerful, almost instinctive longing surged up from deep within her, urging her closer.

She remembered how Yu Sheng used to always be the one to take the initiative.

How she would hug her from behind while she worked, nuzzling into her neck like a clingy cat. How she would sneak kisses onto her forehead and lips in the mornings. How, on countless nights, she would eagerly yet awkwardly try to please her—only to be dismissed again and again with various excuses…

Those moments of intimacy she had ignored and rejected now surged back like a tide, bringing with them sharp regret and pain.

As if guided by something beyond her control, Shen Yunmian slowly crouched lower, holding her breath as she leaned in bit by bit, close enough to feel Yu Sheng's warm breath brushing lightly against her cheek.

Her heart pounded wildly in her chest, as if it might burst out.

Finally, she closed her eyes, as though pushed forward by some invisible force, and gently, trembling, pressed her lips against that softness. It felt even warmer than she remembered, carrying a faint taste of red wine.

In her sleep, Yu Sheng seemed to sense something. She let out a soft murmur, and instead of pushing her away, instinctively parted her lips slightly, as if seeking warmth, unconsciously responding to the kiss and deepening it.

That response hit Shen Yunmian like an electric shock, instantly shattering all her hesitation and restraint.

As if greatly encouraged, her heart surged with wild joy. She cupped Yu Sheng's face and deepened the kiss, her movements turning urgent, filled with a desperate greed and longing of something once lost and now regained.

"Mmh…"

Yu Sheng was stirred awake by the overwhelming sensation and the growing difficulty in breathing.

She blinked drowsily, her long lashes fluttering as her vision slowly came into focus.

When she finally saw the face so close to hers, she froze, her alcohol-fogged mind struggling to process what she was seeing.

Shen Yunmian?

She was… kissing her?

How was that possible? Shen Yunmian—the same person who would turn her head away even when Yu Sheng took the initiative to kiss her?

This had to be a dream… a ridiculous, absurd dream.

Yu Sheng abruptly turned her head to avoid the kiss, her voice thick with sleep and irritation as she muttered, "Shen Yunmian, aren't you annoying…"

Shen Yunmian, still immersed in the moment, suddenly froze. It was as if a bucket of ice water had been poured over her, instantly snapping her out of her daze. The abrupt shift made her sway slightly from crouching too long.

Yu Sheng, dizzy from the movement, frowned and complained, "Stop moving… you're making my head hurt. Just lie down already… so annoying…"

Half-lidded and murmuring incoherently, she spoke in a drunken haze.

Shen Yunmian looked at Yu Sheng's eyes—glossy with intoxication, tinged with unmistakable irritation—and chose to ignore the annoyance in her words, clinging only to the four words she cared about: "just lie down."

So, swallowing her pride, President Shen climbed onto the bed and carefully lay down beside Yu Sheng.

At this point, what right did she have to be reserved?

Perhaps recalling Yu Sheng's earlier complaint, Yunmian took the initiative to untie her robe, revealing the wine-red silk slip beneath. The cool air brushed against her skin, sending a shiver through her body. At that moment, she almost didn't dare meet Yu Sheng's gaze, her body tense like a rigid stone.

Yu Sheng pushed herself up slightly, her drunken eyes studying the person before her—eyes tightly shut, lashes trembling violently…

In that moment, she became even more certain.

This had to be a dream.

The proud, cold Shen Yunmian who always controlled everything—how could she possibly look like this, completely at someone else's mercy?

The alcohol and the dream gave her boundless courage—and cruelty.

She leaned forward, bracing her arms on either side of Shen Yunmian, trapping her beneath her.

Her warm, alcohol-laced breath brushed against Shen Yunmian's ear and neck, her voice slurred but sharp as knives:

"Do you know how annoying you are, Shen Yunmian…"

Shen Yunmian's body trembled violently, her lashes fluttering even more.

"You always wear that sour expression, like everyone owes you millions. Even a kiss feels like it'll kill you. Cold as a rock, completely lacking any sense of romance…" Yu Sheng grew more irritated as she spoke, "After all these years, you've practically turned me frigid…"

Her finger jabbed hard against Shen Yunmian's chest, where her heart pounded violently.

"Couldn't even get a divorce… and now you're still bothering me in my dreams…"

Anger crept into her voice. She suddenly lowered her head, moving toward Shen Yunmian's delicate collarbone, opening her mouth—and as if venting all her resentment and frustration, she bit down hard.

"Mm—!"

Caught off guard, Shen Yunmian let out a muffled groan, sharp pain shooting through her as cold sweat instantly formed on her forehead.

Yu Sheng buried her face against her neck, her beautiful eyes devoid of desire—only a hazy drunkenness mixed with clear resentment.

Shen Yunmian bit down hard on her lower lip, enduring the sharp pain without pushing her away. Instead, she lifted a trembling hand and gently wrapped it around Yu Sheng's back, silently accepting and soothing.

She deserved this.

Yu Sheng seemed to pause for a moment, her muddled mind unable to think clearly. Instinctively, she extended her soft tongue and lightly licked the wounded spot. The sensation—warm, soft, tinged with a faint sting—shot through Shen Yunmian like a sudden current, spreading through her entire body.

A strange and intense reaction surged up from deep within her, making her shudder.

It had been a long time since she'd felt anything like this.

Their marriage had long existed in name only; she couldn't even remember the last time they had been intimate.

Yet just as Shen Yunmian was thrown into turmoil by this unexpected physical reaction, the weight on top of her suddenly grew heavy. The person who had just been biting and complaining seemed to have exhausted all her energy. Her head tilted—and just like that, still draped over Shen Yunmian, she fell into a deep sleep.

Shen Yunmian froze, her mind going completely blank.

She… fell asleep?

All the chaotic emotions in her chest, the unfamiliar desire stirred within her body—everything was left hanging, unresolved.

She lay there stiffly, not daring to move, afraid of waking the person in her arms.

After a long time, she carefully adjusted her position, making Yu Sheng more comfortable.

Turning her head, she looked at the sleeping face beside her in the dim light. There seemed to be faint traces of moisture still clinging to those long lashes. Yu Sheng's drunken accusations echoed repeatedly in her mind.

"Shen Yunmian, why are you so annoying…"

"…you've practically turned me frigid…"

"Couldn't even get a divorce… and still bothering me in my dreams…"

Each word stabbed into her heart, twisting over and over again.

So… in Yu Sheng's heart, their past marriage hadn't brought happiness, but this kind of pain and disgust? Had she really become someone so unbearable in her eyes?

An overwhelming pain and despair surged like a freezing tide, swallowing her whole.

She didn't even dare imagine how Yu Sheng would look at her tomorrow morning—when she woke up and remembered everything that had happened tonight.

Could they ever go back to how things once were?

Desperately, Shen Yunmian tightened her arms around the warm body in her embrace, like a drowning person clinging to the last piece of driftwood.
