Chapter 3 - One Coin for the Night

The woman suddenly stirred awake. Su Yu jumped in fright, his whole body freezing stiff.

But the fierce medicinal effect still raging inside him only grew stronger. Before he could even think, he subconsciously gave a bitter smile and apologized, "Miss, sorry about this. It's an emergency, I really had no choice. I've offended you."

Having said that, his movements became even more fierce.

Yet in just a few moments, the woman fell unconscious again.

A long time later.

Su Yu was drenched in sweat. The strange heat in his body had finally subsided. His chest heaved violently as he gasped for air. With no strength left, he collapsed onto the woman beneath him, breathing raggedly.

Feeling the soreness in his waist, he twitched his mouth, utterly speechless.

Later, whether because his body was too weak or the drug was too strong, Su Yu suddenly felt his head burning and spinning. Before he could do anything else, the memories from the original owner flooded his mind. Staggering back into the house, he fell headfirst onto the bed and lost consciousness.

Before leaving, he had searched his entire body and placed the only copper coin he had into the woman's hand as an apology.

It wasn't much, but it was the most valuable thing he currently owned.

When she wakes up, she… probably… won't be too angry, right?

...Anyway, someone who appears in such a remote, poor place must be poor too.

Besides, in this era, when it comes to that kind of thing, it's usually the man who suffers more. After hesitating for a moment, Su Yu left with a clear conscience.

Sigh!

Sigh...

Looking at the filthy mess in front of him and recalling the memories in his head, Su Yu couldn't help sighing repeatedly.

"It feels just like a dream!"

While he was still sighing, a strange voice suddenly came from outside.

"Why is there no sound? Did she get beaten unconscious again?" Li Cui, the woman who had come to check, pressed her ear against the door in confusion.

The house was completely silent. Not knowing what was happening, she shouted loudly, "Yu Jia! Yu Jia!"

No one answered. She tried again, "Yu family's husband——"

Su Yu's expression remained indifferent. He heard the voice but showed no reaction at all.

"Could it be one is unconscious and the other is drunk and asleep?" Li Cui shouted a few more times with no response, then raised her hand to push open the courtyard gate and go inside.

Seeing this, Su Yu finally moved. Supporting his waist with a blank face, he got up, opened the wooden door, and looked coldly at the woman outside. "Who are you? What do you want?"

"Huh? You're actually awake?" Li Cui was stunned for a moment when she saw him, then widened her eyes. "Looking at you, you seem fine. Where's Yu Jia?"

Yu Jia? Who?

Su Yu was momentarily blank. Following Li Cui's gaze into the house, he finally realized—that pile of shit was called Yu Jia.

Since everyone in this den was in the same gang, he was afraid she would become suspicious if she saw the unconscious person on the ground. He replied indifferently, "Asleep."

If she wasn't dead, then she was asleep. If she was dead, then she was gone.

Whether she was dead or not… they'd see if she could open her eyes tomorrow.

"...She really is asleep," Li Cui muttered to herself while staring at Su Yu's face.

Su Yu nodded expressionlessly, turned around while holding his waist, and slammed the door shut with a bang. His cold unwillingness to talk was extremely obvious.

Li Cui was already used to this kind of behavior. After all, when a man gets beaten often, it would be strange if he had a good attitude.

She sighed inwardly, unable to understand. He couldn't escape anyway, so why not just obediently serve Yu Jia and make his own life easier? Such a beautiful person—if he got beaten until he was disfigured, what then?

Li Cui pressed down the wildly beating heart she felt when she saw that gorgeous face and walked away with a worried expression.

Not to mention, he kept holding his waist earlier, looking like he was in great pain. He must have been beaten again.

What a pity. He wasn't hers, so she couldn't say anything. Since nothing serious had happened, Li Cui shrugged and left indifferently.

Once he saw through the crack that she had walked far away, Su Yu lowered his eyes and looked at the unconscious woman on the ground. He began thinking about what he should do next.

According to the book, most of the men in this village had been bought with money. The rest were either tricked or kidnapped here.

If they behaved, it was fine. If they didn't, they would either be beaten until they didn't dare run, or beaten crippled, or even beaten to death.

Deep in the mountains and unfamiliar with the terrain, those who tried to escape usually didn't have the strength to get out of the village before being caught by the locals who knew the area well. What awaited them after being dragged back was endless torture.

The original owner had tried to escape several times, only to be caught and brutally beaten each time. That was why he later changed tactics and set his sights on the female lead—the person most likely to leave the mountains openly, with no one daring to stop her.

Now that Su Yu had transmigrated here, he naturally wouldn't get involved with that so-called female lead.

As for the male lead—that bastard—if he dared to provoke him again, Su Yu would personally teach him how to be a proper human being!

A sharp glint flashed in Su Yu's eyes. He was never the type to take a step back and let things pass.

Since childhood, he had relied on his desperate ferocity to intimidate countless people.

So if anyone dared to push further, he would beat them until their soles were pierced through!

Of course, he would still make use of whatever he could. He just needed to plan it carefully.

He would definitely escape this godforsaken place.

Su Yu pressed his lips tightly together, straightened his chest, and looked ahead with firm determination. But when he twisted slightly, he pulled his waist again. The pain made him suck in a sharp breath, and he couldn't help but curse inwardly.

'Fuck, why are men in this era so delicate? It was just some indescribable activity, yet my waist still hurts like hell. What kind of trash body is this!'

'And why does that place also hurt so much… damn it...'

'Did she grow up eating iron weights? How could she make me hurt so badly?'

Su Yu grumbled and cursed, radiating anger all over. He was both speechless at this body of his and full of resentment toward the woman in the cave.

Little did he know that not long after he left the cave the previous night, the person lying on the ground had suddenly moved.

"Mmm..." A low groan squeezed out from her throat, hoarse and weak.

Consciousness slowly returned. Mo Xihan gradually opened her heavy eyelids, but her vision was blurry. She could only feel that everything around her was dim.

Covering her painful wound, she sat up from the ground. Then, supporting herself, she slowly stood up. As she rose, she suddenly heard a clink—something had fallen from her body.

A martial artist was always extremely sensitive to changes in the surroundings. Even though her current physical condition was poor, she still instinctively looked toward the source of the sound and accurately fixed her gaze on the spot where the object had dropped.

Trembling, she reached out and picked it up. Mo Xihan staggered toward the cave entrance.

Standing at the mouth of the cave, the moonlight poured into her eyes and illuminated her handsome, heroic features. She closed her eyes for a moment to adjust, then opened them. But when she looked down at herself, her expression suddenly changed drastically.

Her clothes were messy and disheveled. Through the slightly open collar, a bright red bite mark could clearly be seen on her chest.

Fragmented memories instantly flooded back.

She remembered...

In her unconscious state, there had been a brief moment of clarity. At that time… it seemed like someone was sitting on her, rubbing against her, and there was… something in her hand.

Mo Xihan raised her hand. Suddenly, her eyes widened. Looking at the object in her palm, she murmured in a daze:

"This is... This is a copper coin?"
