Chapter 25 - Revelation

Soon, the searching Knights of Favonius arrived.

However, what Kai hadn't expected was that his wife, Jean, was among the Knights of Favonius this time.

Watching her rush towards him, panting slightly, clearly a sign of having run frantically.

Kai couldn't help but ask, a little puzzled, "You're back already?"

"Cardinal only gave the Knights of Favonius a commission, so after hearing it, I came back."

Nodding, signaling the Knights of Favonius to search around,

Jean replied, "After all, I promised Kai I'd spend the evening with him, and I absolutely cannot break my word."

"I never saw you this obedient before."

Kai raised his hand with a chuckle.

He tidied her slightly messy hair and casually asked,

"By the way, seeing such a big commotion, what exactly was lost?"

"Is it very important?"

"The lyre of the heavens."

Jean sighed in relief, looking a bit pained.

"The lyre of the heavens is a lyre once used by Anemo Archon Barbatos; its value is immeasurable. The Favonius Church even specially allocated funds for its veneration."

"But I never imagined anyone would set their sights on it."

"So the lyre was stolen..."

Kai nodded thoughtfully.

Seeing the distress on Jean's face, he showed a hint of anger.

"Then those few thieves must be beaten to death."

"Ah... Eh, actually, it's not that serious."

Hearing Kai suddenly say something so harsh; Jean was momentarily taken aback.

"Although the lyre of the heavens is indeed an irreplaceable precious heritage of Mondstadt,"

"Even so, catching those thieves would at most mean locking them up... it wouldn't go as far as direct execution."

"I don't care. If I catch anyone daring to target Jean,"

"they'll definitely be beaten to death on the spot."

Kai said fiercely, without a hint of hesitation.

"This... Wait, Kai, are you talking about *that* Jean?"

At first, Jean hadn't reacted.

Why would the church's theft?

make her usually mild-mannered husband show such an angry expression?

But a moment later... noticing the hidden smile in Kai's eyes, even if Jean was slow to react,

she knew what he was referring to.

Her delicate face involuntarily reddened.

The Acting Grand Master's aura she had just managed to re-establish

almost completely crumbled on the spot, utterly unable to be maintained.

"This... you're still joking with me at a time like this."

"Because you looked too anxious, so I wanted to help you relax a bit."

Kai scratched his head and smiled, saying, "And what I said is true: if anyone dares to target you,"

"they'd definitely be beaten to death by me on the spot, wouldn't they?"

Well, it probably wasn't just a matter of beating them to death.

Kai was extremely protective of his wife.

If he really encountered such a clueless fellow, being beaten to death would probably be considered a merciful fate.

Being ground to dust or falling into endless darkness would be their ultimate destination.

"You don't need to act."

Her gaze flickered slightly upwards.

Actively linking her arm with Kai's, Jean lightly coughed twice.

She quietly said, "If there really is such a person, I'll directly send her to Mondstadt Prison and let her reflect on her life in there."

"Hmm... sending to prison, wouldn't there need to be a reason?"

Jean has always been known for upholding Mondstadt's laws.

"This matter is an exception. As long as I want to... I can definitely find a reason."

Her azure eyes gleamed with absolute certainty.

Jean said with conviction, a hint of slyness playing on her lips.

"Excuse me, Master Kai and Jean..."

However, just then, an ill-timed voice.

Suddenly, it slowly sounded from the side.

Kai's expression stiffened, and he looked over with a displeased face.

Then, what appeared before his eyes was Charles, an employee of the Angels Share tavern, with a nervous smile.

Feeling immense pressure from Kai's somewhat unfriendly tone.

He quickly carried out his duty as a messenger.

"Master Diluc asked me to invite you and Jean to the tavern. It seems there's something he wants to discuss."

"Tell him to scram!"

Kai touched a certain treasured artifact he had collected.

It was about thirty meters long, allowing Diluc to run twenty-nine meters first.

He would absolutely not strike early!

"This..."

Charles's expression was a little flustered.

He looked at Kai, then at Jean beside him.

He couldn't help but show a look of pleading.

Why Master Kai suddenly became enraged, he didn't know either.

He was just here to be a messenger.

If he really had to go back and report to Master Diluc, "Master Kai told you to scram" or something like that.

He would probably be the first one to be kicked out of the tavern!

"Kai, why don't we still go?"

Noticing Charles's panic, Jean tugged on Kai's sleeve.

She quietly said, "I'm a bit tired from walking around, so we can rest for a bit."

"Alright."

Kai sighed helplessly.

He finally managed to go out and enjoy the festival, only to be interrupted repeatedly.

Even Kai couldn't help but feel a bit irritable.

However, since his wife spoke.

Of course, Kai had no objections.

And... he felt like he was inexplicably dragged into the plot.

Kai was gradually getting annoyed.

Kai had no interest in the plot whatsoever.

He was tired of being a hero saving the world.

With the protagonist group around, he only needed to protect his wife.

And live happily in Mondstadt City.

Then, have a few chubby boys, train them,

And let Jean pass on the title of Dandelion Knight to them.

That way, he could then take his wife to travel across the continent, to various places in Teyvat.

Wouldn't that be great?

Getting involved in the protagonist group's plot, doing such thankless tasks.

Kai was unwilling.

It was a pity that his memories were too vague at the time.

Currently, he could only remember a general outline.

As for the specific details, Kai truly had no impression.

Otherwise, with that knowledge.

He could avoid these plots and steal some leisure time with his wife.

He could definitely achieve that perfectly.

Angels Share tavern.

Diluc looked at Kai, who stood before him with a dark expression, somewhat puzzled.

He clearly didn't know what had happened.

Beside him was Jean, who had followed along.

Glancing at Kai's puzzling expression, Diluc frowned.

As one of his few friends.

At this time, he still had to show concern.

"Kai, your expression looks a bit off. Are you sick?"

"I was having a great time with my wife at the festival."

"First, the church was robbed, and then you called me over."

"How could my face look good?"

He pulled Jean to sit down and tapped on the table.

Diluc instinctively poured a glass of dandelion wine.

He took a deep breath, calming his mood slightly.

Only then did Kai speak: "If you have something to say, say it quickly."

"I'm still in a hurry to go play, that's all."

"Play... I'm afraid, Kai, you might not have the time for that."

Diluc looked at him with a hint of amusement.

Before he could react, he continued: "The lyre of the heavens stolen from the church."

"In fact, ... I have a clue."
