Yujin's POV:
The cold night air wrapped around me, sharp and suffocating.
My mind was a mess—thoughts, responsibilities, the weight on my shoulders pressing heavier with every step.
My phone rang, cutting through the silence.
"...Mom," I answered, my voice low and drained.
"Yujin, where are you, dear? You haven't called me in a while," her gentle voice came from the other end.
For a moment… I remembered why I was still holding on.
"I've just been busy, Mom. Why are you calling so late? You should be sleeping," I said, a hint of worry slipping in.
"I know, dear… I don't want to upset you, but…"
She hesitated.
Something felt wrong.
"What is it?" I asked, stopping in the empty street.
"The loan sharks came again. They said… if we don't pay soon, they'll destroy the house."
I exhaled slowly. This wasn't new.
"I'll handle it, Mom. Don't worry."
"I know, dear… just don't overwork yourse—"
Her voice faded into the background.
Because I saw something… I wasn't supposed to see.
My body froze.
"Yujin? Is everything okay?" she asked.
"I—I'll call you later," I said quickly, ending the call.
My hands trembled.
Not far ahead, a man stood surrounded by others.
Black suit. Messy hair. A presence that dominated the space around him.
In front of him, a man lay on the ground—bleeding, broken, begging.
I swallowed hard and pressed myself against the wall, trying to stay hidden.
Run...yujin run..
My mind screamed it.
But my legs refused to move.
A gun lifted.
A shot rang out.
I flinched, clamping my hand over my mouth.
Silence followed.
The man didn't even react.
"Dispose of the body," he said calmly.
Like it meant nothing.
His men obeyed immediately.
And then—
A sudden noise.
A cat jumped out from a nearby trash can.
"Ah—!"
The sound slipped out before I could stop it.
My heart stopped.
…Did...did heard me?
Slowly—
His head turned.
His eyes locked onto me.
For the first time, I saw his face clearly.
And everything inside me went cold.
"Mr… Kim Taehyuk…?"
