Episode 4 — The World Reacts
The world didn't stop when it happened.
---
It fractured.
---
—
CUT.
---
Sirens screamed across the city.
---
Cars abandoned.
People running.
Phones held high—
no signal.
---
"…hello? Hello?!"
---
A woman turned in circles, panic rising.
---
Above—
the skyline remained.
But the ground below it didn't.
---
Cracks.
Shifts.
Uneven terrain splitting through streets that had existed hours ago.
---
A broadcast flickered on a nearby screen.
---
"…we are receiving multiple reports of environmental—"
Static.
---
"…if you can hear this, remain—"
Cut.
---
Silence.
---
Then louder panic.
---
—
CUT.
---
A military command room.
---
Dark.
Lit only by unstable screens.
---
"Satellite feeds are breaking up!"
---
"That region—zoom in—"
---
The image distorted.
Then stabilized.
---
"…that wasn't there before."
---
A stretch of land.
Barren.
Expanding outward.
---
"That's not destruction," another voice said.
"…that's growth."
---
"Growth into what?!"
---
No answer.
---
Another voice cut in:
"Communication loss across multiple zones. We can't reach half our teams."
---
A pause.
Then—
---
"…deploy reconnaissance."
---
Silence followed that decision.
Heavy.
---
No one argued.
---
—
CUT.
---
Somewhere beyond the mapped zones—
---
A figure knelt.
---
Not human.
---
The ground beneath it was still.
Unchanging.
---
"…the boundary has opened."
---
No response.
---
It lowered its head slightly.
---
"…the others will notice soon."
---
A shift in the air.
Subtle.
---
Then—
a presence.
---
Not seen.
Felt.
---
"…let them come."
---
Silence returned.
---
The figure rose—
and vanished into the distance.
---
—
BACK.
---
Dust settled slowly.
---
The creature lay still.
---
No one spoke for a while.
---
"…is it over?" Joel asked quietly.
---
"…I think so," Maya replied.
---
Darius sat down heavily, breathing hard.
"…we can't keep doing this…"
---
Leon didn't respond.
He was focused on his side—
blood still seeping through his fingers.
---
"…we need to move," Maya said.
"…we stay here, something else comes."
---
No one disagreed.
---
Bram stood a few steps away.
Watching.
---
Not the body.
---
The ground.
---
Marks.
---
Footprints.
---
"…these aren't ours."
---
Maya looked over.
"…what?"
---
He pointed.
---
Boot prints.
---
Clear.
Fresh.
---
Darius frowned.
"…you're saying there are people here?"
---
No one answered immediately.
---
Then—
a sound.
---
Faint.
---
"…did you hear that?" Leon whispered.
---
Metal.
---
A distant click.
---
Then—
voices.
---
"…confirm visual—"
"…possible survivors—"
---
Everyone froze.
---
"…that's not us," Joel said.
---
"…obviously," Darius muttered.
---
The voices got closer.
---
Clearer.
---
"…approach carefully—"
"…we don't know what state they're in—"
---
Maya raised her hands slowly.
"…wait—"
---
Figures emerged through the dust.
---
Uniform.
---
Armed.
---
Organized.
---
Not panicked.
---
Prepared.
---
Weapons raised—but controlled.
---
"Stop right there."
---
The group froze.
---
Leon slowly lifted his hands.
"…yeah… okay… okay…"
---
Darius followed.
Then Joel.
---
Maya kept her eyes on them.
Careful.
---
Bram didn't move at first.
---
He watched.
---
Their spacing.
Their stance.
---
This wasn't random.
---
They knew what they were doing.
---
"…hands up," one of them repeated.
---
Bram raised his hands.
Slowly.
---
A soldier stepped forward.
Scanning them.
---
"…you're not from any registered team."
---
"…we're not from anything," Leon said.
"…we just—"
---
"Save it."
---
Another voice.
---
Calm.
---
In control.
---
A man stepped forward.
---
Older.
Composed.
---
Not surprised.
---
He looked at them—
one by one.
---
"…you came from outside the zone."
---
No one answered.
---
"…that's fine," he continued.
"…you can explain later."
---
A pause.
---
Then—
---
"…you're coming with us."
---
No resistance.
---
No strength left for it.
---
As they were surrounded—
guided—
moved—
---
Bram glanced back once.
---
At the open land.
---
The distance.
---
The silence beyond.
---
Not fear.
---
Not relief.
---
Something else entirely.
---
"…so it's already started."
---
No one heard him.
---
