Chapter 2 - The New world

"Miii?"

[ "Yes, yes. Have you calmed down now?" ]

"Miii?"

The green eyes looked around, trying to find the voice that was speaking to it right now.

[ "You won't find me around you. The system exists all around you while the voice is being transmitted inside your mind directly." ]

The young Dokkaebi did not understand what the system meant by that, however, now that it had calmed down, it looked around itself.

'Things' looked pretty.

The green crystal covered trees, the pretty blue leaves of the trees, the red grass on the ground, and the pretty blue sky painted with what the system explained to be 'clouds' was a sight that the green eyes adored dearly.

"Miiiii~."

The Dokkaebi was floating naturally as it was a spiritual creature, so it tried to reach out to the sky above and touch the pretty white clouds that were moving slowly.

[ "Hey! Wait!" ]

The voice that was playing inside of its head chased after the little creature. It did not want it to be in any danger, and this forest was filled with everything that could be dangerous to a newborn like this one.

"Meee?"

The Dokkaebi that flew up into the sky got tired too quickly and it had not even gone beyond the canopy of the trees surrounding him.

When it couldn't catch the clouds, tears formed on the innocent green eyes and it started crying once again.

"Miiiiiiiiiiiii…!"

[ "This little thing…" ]

As if a tired parent, the system sighed.

Then, in a much gentler voice, the voice explained to the little being.

[ "Listen, little one. You see, the sky may look closer to you, but it is in fact much, much further from you. The sky, as you can say, is the edge of your world." ]

The newborn creature knew nothing about this world, however, unlike the other beings, this one possessed the ability to learn much faster than the other infants.

[ "Come down. Let me tell you some more about the things around you." ]

The voice inside his head was the only thing that it could understand so, the little creature calmed down.

It understood what it meant to be far, or close, or within reach. It understood it when the system called the sky the edge of the world.

It was like it could absorb everything that the system taught it… or was it remembering things that it had long forgotten?

The creature did not understand it, and the system did not have to.

[ "That's a tree. The ones you see there are covered in [Mana crystals]. Lucky for you, they were of the wind element as well so they sustained the impact of the winds earlier." ]

The system taught it about the nature that was present all around it.

[ "The grass has absorbed the rich nutrients of the soil here for a long time. This place has a very high Mana concentration so it was perfect to facilitate your natural birth." ]

The crystals on the tree trunks and the grass on the ground. Not only that, the leaves, the crystals that had fallen to the ground, and even the living things.

"Miii?"

[ "Oh, that's a bug." ]

"Miii?"

[ "You know what? Instead of asking me, you can use your skill as well. You have a very good skill for things like these." ]

"Mee?"

[ "What is a skill? Ah, right." ]

The system voice realised something. It had not shown the young Dokkaebi something pretty important.

[ "Can you do a little something, little one? Can you close your eyes and focus inside of you and think about bringing out a light that might be there? You will feel it when you focus enough." ]

This was something fundamental for all the intelligent creatures and people of this world. The system was teaching the creature how to check its status.

"Meee? Miii?"

[ "You can keep your eyes open. We just do that to focus better." ]

"Miiii!"

[ "You just have to focus! You can keep your eyes open, you can keep them close, you can cover them with your eyes, you can do whatever you want. The point is, the better the focus the easier it will be." ]

"Hmph!"

The Dokkaebi didn't like how the system was telling him to do different things together. It couldn't even focus on one thing, how was it supposed to understand these different instructions?

[ "Will you just give it a try? We promise something fun will happen if you do." ]

"Miiii!"

The Dokkaebi was still upset, but staying upset didn't seem to be part of its nature, so it calmed down quickly and closed its pretty eyes.

[ "Good. If you focus enough–." ]

The system was just about to guide the little one when something interesting happened.

[Ding!]

With a certain sound that broke his focus, the young dokkaebi opened his eyes to something strange.

============

There's a blue screen similar to the golden one that he had seen earlier had appeared before him.

[ "Oh, wow. Seems like you're pretty good at this." }

The system voice had not expected the young creature to succeed so soon considering most of the mature Streamers that try this for the first time take at least a few days to get the hang of it.

But perhaps this one was one of those rare prodigies that are simply born with special talent.

"Meeeee! Miiiiii!!!"

Or perhaps it was just dumb luck that the creature succeeded this time.

[ "Hey! Hey! Don't be scared like that. Wait! Calm down, little one!" ]

The Dokkaebi got scared by the strange blue light and started running around the area.

It was running away from the blue screen but the screen was chasing right after the creature, which scared the Dokkaebi even more.

"Miiiiiiii!"

It flew up into the sky, and when it seemed like running from it was futile, the creature's instincts kicked in once again.

-Oooooooooooooong!

The green eyes glowed with a deeper color as the surrounding energies gathered together.

[ "Oh… oh no." ]

It wanted to push the strange thing away from him so, he thought of how the leaves on the trees got pushed around by what the system voice called 'wind'.

[Ding!]

[Instinct Incantation Magic: Gust (1-Star) has manifested.]

In its mind, the winds that pushed the screen away were stronger, and thus what manifested as a result… was also a stronger gust of winds.

-Swiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiish!

Sadly, the magic did nothing to the screen that was chasing after the creature.

It only exhausted the already young creature, resulting in a new weakness.

[ "Who told you to do that, you little dumb thing." ]

The voice seemed even more tired now.

It was wondering whether this little thing would become the light that the world needed, or another one of the tubelights that were a pain to all those who were working towards something important in this grand network of worlds.
