Xander had no idea how he managed to remain calm as he drove Ivy to the hospital.
His hands gripped the steering wheel so tightly that his knuckles had turned white.
The passenger seat was stained with blood.
Ivy had lost far too much of it.
She had started out conscious, trying to reassure him that she was fine, but the further they drove, the quieter she became. By the time they reached the hospital, she had stopped responding altogether.
Every second felt like an eternity.
The moment the car screeched to a halt outside the emergency entrance, doctors and nurses rushed over with a stretcher.
"She's been stabbed!" Xander barked.
Medical staff immediately wheeled Ivy toward the emergency room while a doctor asked rapid-fire questions about her condition.
Xander followed without taking his eyes off her.
Just before the doors closed, Aaron arrived, already dressed in surgical scrubs after being called in from another department.
He stopped in front of Xander.
