Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: What kind of Laborer class are You!

[Stoneback Bear]

Threat Level: 6

Health: 780 / 780

Physical Attack: 80 – 120

Physical Defense: 95 – 120

[A mid-tier wilderness predator rarely encountered by beginner hunters. Thick stone-like plates protect most of its body, making frontal attacks ineffective. However, the throat and underside remain vulnerable points.]

The Stoneback Bear's roar tore through the forest like a hammer smashing glass.

It wasn't just loud and heavy, the kind of sound that vibrated in your chest and made your knees want to forget how to work. The massive creature reared up on its hind legs for a second, towering almost three meters tall, gray fur matted with dirt and old scars, jagged stone plates fused across its back and shoulders like someone had armored a nightmare. Its small black eyes burned with pure animal rage as it dropped back down, claws gouging deep furrows in the earth.

Rei's voice came out thin and shaky. "Holy shit… that thing is huge."

Seo Dojin had already drawn his sword. The curved blade caught the weak sunlight, faint runes along its edge glowing a dull red. He stepped in front of the group without a second's hesitation, planting himself like a wall between the kids and certain death.

"Everybody stay the hell back," he ordered, voice low and steady. "No sudden moves."

Nobody argued. Even the cockiest combat-class students shuffled backward fast. The only one who didn't retreat was Luna. She stayed a half-step behind Seo Dojin, frost already curling around her sword like living smoke. Her face was still calm, but her knuckles were white on the hilt.

The bear sniffed the air again, nostrils flaring. Then it roared a second time and charged.

The ground shook. Trees trembled. The bear came like a freight train made of muscle and stone.

Seo Dojin met it head-on.

His sword whipped up in a brutal arc.

CLANG!

Metal slammed into stone-hard plates on the bear's shoulder. Sparks exploded outward. The bear staggered half a step, but the hide barely broke. Seo Dojin's eyes narrowed. "Tough bastard."

The bear answered with a savage swipe. The paw moved way faster than something that big had any right to. Seo Dojin twisted aside at the last instant. Claws ripped through the air where his chest had been and smashed straight into a young tree behind him. The trunk exploded into splinters.

A girl in the back screamed.

"That swing would've cut a person in half," Rei whispered, voice cracking.

Seo Dojin didn't waste time talking. He slashed again, aiming for the bear's neck. The blade bit in just enough to draw a thin line of dark blood before glancing off the armored plates. The bear roared in fury and lunged, jaws snapping. Seo Dojin rolled away, breathing harder now.

"Luna!" he barked.

She moved without hesitation.

"Frozen Thorn."

Her sword thrust forward. A spear of pale blue frost shot out and slammed into the bear's side, right where Seo Dojin had opened the cut. Ice crackled across the wound, slowing the monster for a heartbeat.

The bear shook itself violently. The frost shattered like cheap glass. Its rage doubled.

Then its glowing eyes slid past the two fighters… and locked straight onto the cluster of students.

"Oh no," Rei breathed.

The bear lowered its head and charged.

"Scatter!" Seo Dojin shouted.

Panic ripped through the group. Kids bolted in every direction. One boy tripped over a root and went down hard, scrambling backward on his hands as the bear thundered closer.

Aaron didn't run.

He stood perfectly still, watching the monster close the gap. Twenty meters. Fifteen. Ten. The ground shook harder with every stride. Rei grabbed his sleeve, yanking desperately.

"Brother Aaron—run, damn it!"

Aaron gently pulled free. "Relax."

Rei stared at him like he'd gone insane.

The bear raised its massive paw, claws glinting.

Eight meters.

Seven.

Six.

Aaron's hand moved on pure instinct. The Frostfang Dagger appeared in his grip, cold energy flooding the blade in a pale silver rush.

Five meters.

Four.

Seo Dojin's eyes widened in horror. "Kid! Move!"

Three meters.

Two.

Aaron stepped forward.

Titan's Grip surged through his arms like liquid fire.

The bear's claw came crashing down.

At the exact same moment, Aaron slipped underneath it—low, fast, almost casual. The dagger flashed upward in a perfect silver streak.

SHHK!

The blade sank straight into the soft gap beneath the bear's jaw, punching through flesh and cartilage with a wet crunch. Frost energy exploded inside the wound like a frozen bomb.

The bear's roar choked off into a strangled gurgle.

For one frozen second the entire forest seemed to stop breathing.

Then the massive body swayed.

And collapsed.

BOOM.

The ground jumped when the three-meter beast slammed down, kicking up dirt and leaves in a small cloud. Its legs twitched once, twice, then went still.

Silence.

Absolute, ringing silence.

Seo Dojin stood frozen mid-step, sword still raised.

Luna's eyes—those always-calm gray eyes—widened for the first time all day.

Rei's mouth hung open so wide it looked painful.

The rest of the students were statues, faces pale, breaths caught in their throats.

Aaron calmly twisted the dagger once, then pulled it free. Frost mist drifted off the blade like smoke from a snuffed candle. He looked down at the giant corpse at his feet, wiped the weapon on his sleeve, and slid it back into his inventory.

Rei finally found his voice, barely above a whisper.

"…Brother Aaron."

Aaron glanced back. "Yeah?"

Rei pointed a shaky finger at the dead bear. "You just… you just killed a Stoneback Bear. Alone. With a dagger."

Aaron looked at the monster again, then shrugged like he'd just swatted a fly. "Looks that way."

Inside his head the system chimed, calm and mechanical as ever.

Ding.

[Monster defeated]

[Reward: 120 EXP]

Then the familiar twist hit.

[100× amplification activated – random factor applied]

[Final experience gained: 12,000 EXP]

The bar inside his mind exploded upward like a firework.

[Level Up!]

[Level Up!]

[Level Up!]

[Level Up!]

Warm power flooded every muscle, every nerve. Aaron felt it settle deep in his bones, stronger than anything he'd felt before. His lips curved into the smallest, most private smile.

Behind him, Seo Dojin finally lowered his sword. The veteran hunter stared at the dead bear, then at Aaron, disbelief carved into every line of his scarred face.

"…What kind of Laborer class are you, kid?"

The question hung in the air, heavy and unanswered.

Luna took one slow step closer, her gaze locked on Aaron like she was seeing him for the first time. She didn't speak, but the way she gripped her sword said everything.

The forest around them felt suddenly smaller.

And somewhere deeper in the trees, another low growl answered and something even bigger, drawn by the noise and the smell of fresh blood.

The hunt, it turned out, had only just begun.
