Synopsis
The ship returned without warning. The crew was alive. But they brought something back. On Sora, people start dying. No one knows who’s responsible. Not even him. Because the one they trust most… might not be in control anymore.

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 — Arrival

Earth was not dying.

It had already ended.

What remained was administration.

Headquarters stood where a city once existed. Concrete structures, sealed corridors, a sky that never changed. Nothing grew here. Nothing moved unless it was meant to.

This was where decisions were made.

And lived with.

Outside its perimeter, thousands waited.

Not for hope.

For permission.

"Recovery vessel has returned."

The announcement spread across the docking bay.

No one cheered. No one rushed forward.

Returns were not victories.

They were information.

The ship descended slowly and settled onto the platform.

Its hull showed no signs of damage. No distress marks. No indication that anything had gone wrong.

It looked… intact.

"Signal logs?"

"Minimal," a technician replied. "Transmission stopped mid-cycle."

"Crew status?"

A short pause.

"Unconfirmed."

No one approached the hatch immediately.

That alone was enough to make the silence feel heavier.

"Open it."

The outer seal released with a low hiss.

The door slid open.

Nothing came out.

The bay remained still.

Everyone watched.

Waiting for movement.

There was none.

"…send a team."

Two security officers stepped forward and entered the ship.

Their footsteps echoed briefly.

Then disappeared.

Silence followed.

Time passed.

Long enough to feel wrong.

Then—

"You should see this."

The voice came through the comms.

Quiet.

Uncertain.

"Report."

"…they brought something back."

No one spoke.

But attention sharpened instantly.

"Crew?"

"…they're here."

A pause.

"…alive."

The tension didn't disappear.

It shifted.

"Is it identified?"

"…no."

"Is it alive?"

Another pause.

"…we don't know."

From above, behind reinforced glass, senior staff observed in silence.

"Quarantine the bay."

"Already in effect."

"Begin classification."

A second voice spoke, more measured.

"…based on what?"

No one answered immediately.

"…we'll decide after testing."

Below, the open hatch remained still.

No sound.

No movement.

Outside the facility, the line of people did not move.

They couldn't see what had arrived.

They didn't need to.

Inside—

something had returned.

And no one knew what it was.
