The estate's security lights flickered on at exactly 7:42 PM, illuminating the black Mercedes that had just pulled through the gate.
I watched from the living room window, my stomach already tightening. Beside me, Adrian stood with his arms crossed, his expression carved from stone. He hadn't said a word since the car appeared on the long driveway. He didn't need to. The tension in his shoulders said everything.
"They didn't call ahead," I said.
"No."
"How did they get past the gate?"
Adrian's jaw tightened. "I'll be asking Richard that question tomorrow."
The Mercedes parked. The headlights cut off. For a moment, nothing happened. Then the driver's door opened, and Matt stepped out. Same expensive watch. Same quiet eyes that scanned the property like he was counting exits. He walked around to the passenger side and opened the door.
