Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Tutorial

[The game will now commence.]

A hovering message appeared before 100 thousand people on the planet.

Before these people knew it, they were separated and placed into another space.

Within seconds, all kinds of reactions let out.

Some began asking what was happening.

Some were hyped, some were panicking.

While others thanked in relief, and some groups stayed silent within their position.

Looking around, they found themselves inside a futuristic place, like they were inside a game circuit where codes were being made.

The area was colored in purple, with a metallic cold floor that would light up now and then, and sometimes make noises.

Then, it returned.

[Congratulations players.]

It greeted them in a welcoming yet oddly terrifying way.

[All of you are meant to die one way or another.]

[The System has decided to bring all of you into this game and give you guys a chance to survive.]

Reading the hovering message in the sky, some people started smiling.

As if they didn't care about what the system said about them being dead.

Instead, they enjoyed its message.

[All of you will be sent into the world of: Mattock.]

[A world similar to your planet, with just a tiny bit of difference.]

[In this world, a global war happened.]

[Where the world leaders used their nuclear weapons and launched them at each other.]

[Leading to the death of billions and the destruction of the world itself.]

[What's worse?]

[Was not the destruction it had done, but what came after it.]

[With the world ending, people's hopes and prayers were losing their meaning, then they came.]

[Zombies, created by what the nuclear weapons left in the air. Bringing those who were already dead to move once again and bring havoc to the world.]

"This is taking forever, don't you think?" A blonde man said to the person next to him.

"Ah huh, like damn. We get it, we're not dumb enough to not know where this is going. So just proceed with the plan."

Hearing that, multiple people around them nodded. They too did not want to last longer than needed to be here.

As if the System understood this, it stopped its explanation and proceeded to the last part.

[Since most of you understand what will happen, the game will now proceed to the tutorial.]

Then, everyone received their own personal system, allowing them to see five basic stats, their name, age, gender, skill, and finally infection level.

"Neat." One said, seeing the system panel while rubbing his chin.

"Now we're talking."

"This is gonna be easy."

[.....]

[You will all now receive your first skill, this skill will be your main skill that will grow along with you. Unlike the other skills there are.]

[The system will now give everyone 10 minutes to understand the system panel before sending you all to the next world.]

[Good luck players.]

[Remember, everything you'll do in this new world will determine whether your time of punishment will increase or decrease.]

[System note: Some individuals have advanced stats.]

Like so, the giant system screen that was in the sky disappeared, allowing everyone to learn and understand the skill they have.

"Haha! I got a skill that will be considered an SSS Rank if there's a ranking system." A man yelled.

"Damn, mine is a support skill...." Another said, seeing his. "Anyone want to join with me! I have a healing skill!"

"What the hell is this skill of mine?" A lady said, seeing her skill opposite of her character.

Before everyone knew it, people were reacting out loud seeing what they had.

While others cursed the system for giving them a skill that they didn't like.

Some started teaming up with people that could help theirs.

Others pondered whether they would go solo or not.

While some unlucky individuals didn't have the luck to join others.

Without knowing it, the timer ended and everyone who wasn't holding hands with someone got separated.

Those who read a bit more in the system knew the needed requirements to be sent with their team, while others didn't.

They didn't understand what they had done wrong, but knew things would go wrong later on.

[TUTORIAL AREA.]

"Is this it?" A man asked, seeing they were hidden behind a giant wall reaching tens of meters into the sky.

"Dumbass," another said, hitting his head. "The system clearly said we'll proceed to the tutorial, so obviously this is not the actual world."

"Right...." The man agreed. "But you didn't have to hit me!" He shouted, running to the other.

Looking around, they found the other players appearing after a flash of light, landing on the ground.

Seeing the people entering the area, they realized the system did not care about anything at all.

As old, young, even those with disabilities were with them.

Seeing this, the two looked at each other and said:

"We run away when things go wrong." Agreeing with this plan, they started moving around, trying to find anything to use.

As more and more people came, another timer appeared in the sky, this time with a 1-hour limit.

Thankfully, these people were not dumb.

As the moment they got here, they started gathering anything they could use to prevent the entrance from breaking down.

And finding supplies they could use.

Finally, deciding on who would go to the front and back.

"Good thing this place has many buildings for us to use."

The man before said, as the lower ground was fully abandoned.

Laced with gasoline and traps for the zombies.

"Yeah, fighting a horde of monsters is not ideal, so we'll leave the first level to those people." His buddy said.

Within the last hour, the people in this place gathered their strength and decided to gather all vehicles to cover the entrance.

They destroyed the buildings near the wall of the entrance, making it a natural wall for the gate.

And even threw gallons of gasoline on the ground, in hopes of burning the zombies.

[Ding!]

The system announced.

[The zombies are coming.]

As it said so, people who were keeping watch above ground saw, behind the tiny crack in the entrance, figures moving in.

"They're here!!" A person shouted, using his skill.

"Alright everyone!" The leader of this camp yelled.

"Ready your long-range skills and shoot them down!"
