Seeing countless black gun barrels pointed at him, Fenris's brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.
"Tch."
After clicking his tongue in irritation, Fenris casually tossed Abomination's arm aside and slightly raised his right arm. Iridescent light began to flow across it.
"Fenris!"
Fenris said nothing, his face cold. The brilliant multicolored light only grew brighter and brighter, almost illuminating the entire block as if it were broad daylight.
Tony still remembered the scene in the Middle East vividly, when dozens of fully armed terrorists had been turned into a rain of blood under that move. His heart jolted, and he quickly leaned forward.
His armored left hand reached out, trying to press down Fenris's arm.
However, the flowing light reacted the instant it was touched, automatically erupting with a powerful shockwave that slammed into the suit.
Buzz!
Caught off guard, Tony was sent flying.
The armor over the left half of his body let out a pained metallic whine. Half of its systems went offline on the spot, and Jarvis's warning alerts rang nonstop. The error reports continued for several seconds before finally stopping.
"Tony, what are you doing?"
Fenris was startled.
Tony had moved too suddenly, and Fenris had not been guarding against him much to begin with. Fortunately, Fenris had deliberately restrained his strength at the critical moment. Otherwise, that single impact alone would have been more than enough for Tony to suffer for.
"Fenris, these soldiers are only following orders. They're innocent."
Tony took several breaths before he finally adjusted the suit's posture in midair. After landing shakily on the ground, his visor opened, and he urged him anxiously, "Let me handle this. I'll give you an answer you'll be satisfied with, all right?"
"They're pointing guns at you, and you still think they're innocent?"
Seeing the plea in Tony's eyes, Fenris could not bring himself to embarrass him. After giving him a deep look, the flowing multicolored light on his arm finally began to fade. "Tony, you won't be able to persuade them."
"Thank you, Fenris."
Tony had known Fenris for quite some time now, and he understood his personality fairly well. Because of that, he knew exactly how rare it was for Fenris to say something like this.
Tony nodded confidently, then moved in a flash, placing himself in front of Fenris and Bruce as he faced the military's weapons head-on.
"Tony is still too young right now."
Fenris curled his lip, then poked Bruce, who was standing beside him watching the show. "Do you think he'll succeed?"
"Getting the military to back down? In his dreams."
Bruce let out a cold chuckle.
After being hunted by Ross like a stray dog for so many years, Bruce understood Ross better than anyone in the world except his mother-in-law.
Rumble, rumble.
Soon, the roar of helicopter rotors came from the air one after another. After the helicopter carrying General Ross landed, it was not long before a white man with silver hair and a hard, resolute face appeared several dozen meters in front of Tony.
"Tony Stark, the superhero who's been making headlines lately, Iron Man, beloved by countless people. Instead of dealing with street thugs, when did you start interfering in military affairs?"
Ross held up a megaphone and sneered at Tony without the slightest courtesy. "That man is one of our loyal soldiers, Iron Man. Return him to us!"
"Ross, putting aside whether this person is a so-called soldier or not, do you know how much damage he caused to our city when he appeared on the streets of New York without warning?"
"Do you know how many people he injured? How much damage he caused?"
Although Tony usually liked to focus on tinkering with his new suits, he was still the man in charge of a massive corporation like Stark Industries. Naturally, he was not easy to deal with.
"We finally managed to subdue him, and now you show up out of nowhere, say a few empty words, and want to take him away? On what grounds?"
"Cut the crap, Stark. Hand him over. I'm not negotiating with you."
Ross had always had a fiery temper. Faced with Tony's barrage of questions, he simply stiffened his neck. "We sacrificed who knows how many brothers trying to capture this man. You want to swoop in and take him away? Not happening!"
"Ross, this is your own mess. You caused a disaster this big, and you still have the nerve to..."
Seeing that the other party refused to yield at all, Tony frowned, and his temper immediately flared.
"That's enough, Tony. There's no reasoning with this kind of thing in the first place."
After listening to them go back and forth, Fenris had also grown annoyed. He directly pulled Tony, whose face had turned red with anger, back.
"Hah..."
"Ross really is a brainless idiot. It's bad enough that he can't read the situation, but he's dead set on forcing his own men down a road to hell."
Tony angrily opened his visor and walked to the side, refusing to get involved any further. "He cowers in front of monsters, but the moment he sees we're willing to talk, he starts playing little games."
"You people over there, hand him over, or I'll open fire!"
Seeing Tony back down, Ross grew even more arrogant. He even brought out the commanding presence he had developed from years in a position of power and aimed it at the three of them. "I'll count to three!"
"Three!"
Ross waved his hand, and countless black gun barrels rose, aiming straight at Fenris, who stood in front of Abomination.
"Stop playing dead. Time to work."
Fenris kicked Abomination in the thigh. Out of the corner of his eye, he happened to notice that Abomination had quietly opened one eye into a narrow slit.
"Two!"
"You wanted him, didn't you?"
Fenris suddenly grabbed Abomination by the ankle. With a twist of his body, he flung him in Ross's direction. "Here you go. Make sure you catch him!"
Abomination's massive body seemed weightless as it drew a graceful arc through the air.
Boom!
Before the final "one" could leave Ross's mouth, Abomination was precisely thrown right in front of him under everyone's eyes.
"At least you know your place."
Ross snorted coldly at Fenris. Looking at Abomination lying motionless on the ground, he waved one hand. "Tie him up. We're leaving!"
"General, something's wrong. Abomination looks like..."
"Looks like what?"
"He looks like he's awake!"
"What?"
Just as several soldiers approached with a special net, they suddenly saw Abomination, who should have been unconscious, quietly open both eyes.
When he had been beside Fenris just now, Abomination had felt as if some strange power was suppressing him crazily. The terror bursting from the depths of his heart made it impossible for him to bring out even the slightest bit of his strength.
Now that Fenris had finally let him go, Abomination, whose mind was filled with rage, immediately sprang back to life. Shaking off his earlier weakness, he let out a venting roar and climbed straight up from the ground.
His body, over three meters tall, was practically unstoppable before ordinary humans. With bloodshot eyes, Abomination charged madly toward the densest concentration of soldiers, furiously destroying every living thing he could see.
"Not good! Hurry, open fire!"
"Open fire!"
No one had expected Abomination to suddenly erupt. Ross, who had already been preparing to withdraw, had long since lost the confident expression from his face.
Seeing Abomination wreak havoc inside his own troops, Ross was horrified. All his earlier arrogance vanished, and he fled toward an armored vehicle under the protection of the people around him like a madman.
Bang, bang, bang!
Amid the fierce gunfire, almost no one could stop Abomination. Ordinary soldiers had no power to resist him at all and were sent flying like toys.
In just a short while, the area had been reduced to chaos.
"None of you are getting away!"
Amid the thick stench of blood, Abomination's gaze suddenly locked onto Ross, who had already fled several hundred meters away.
A low growl that no longer sounded human rang out. In the next instant, Abomination leaped high into the air, both iron fists smashing viciously toward the armored vehicle.
