Chapter 31 - Chapter 30: The Dragon’s Invitation

The message Cheng sent back with Lady Xin—the shattered stone pillar and the promise of "fire and steam"—had reached the Capital. But instead of an army arriving at the gates, a single, ornate carriage appeared. It bore the crest of the Imperial Library, a sign of high intellectual honor, but the guards flanking it were the Emperor's personal "Shadow-Walkers."

The Imperial Herald did not scream or threaten. He stood in the center of Cheng's courtyard and bowed low. "The Emperor has seen the 'dragon's breath' you sent back with Lady Xin, Lord Cheng. He is not angry. He is... impressed. He recognizes that a mind like yours is wasted in the provinces."

He held out a scroll of heavy, black silk sealed with gold. "You are cordially invited to the Great Exhibition in the Capital. The Emperor wishes for you to demonstrate your 'Steam Dragon' before the foreign ambassadors. Refusal would be an insult to the Empire's glory—and a confession that your inventions are a threat to the throne."

Cheng took the scroll, the cold silk biting into his palm. It was a masterpiece of political maneuvering. If he went, he walked into the heart of the enemy's power. If he stayed, he was branded a rebel.

The Heartwarming Coronation

The news spread through the estate like a winter chill. Cheng found Heng in the master bedroom, the Omega already standing by the window, his eyes fixed on the distant mountains that led to the Capital.

"You're going to go, aren't you?" Heng asked, his voice barely a whisper.

Cheng walked over and pulled him into a deep, protective embrace from behind. "I have to. If I don't, they'll send a legion to burn this place to the ground. But I'm not going alone."

Heng turned in his arms, his eyes shining with a mixture of fear and fierce loyalty. "I won't let you face them by yourself. If we are to enter the dragon's den, we go together."

The Erotic Resonance

The intimacy tonight was born from the heavy shadow of the journey ahead. It was a long, visceral immersion into tactile devotion. Cheng moved with a slow, worshipful intensity, his large, calloused hands mapping every curve of Heng's body as if he were trying to memorize the feeling of safety before they entered the den of vipers.

The description focused on the sensory friction—the heat of their skin against the cool silk sheets, the scent of woodsmoke and jasmine, and the rhythmic, heavy thud of their hearts meeting. Every touch was an erotic promise. Cheng's mouth traced the lines of Heng's body with a hunger that was both protective and primal, mapping every inch until Heng was arching into him, his breath coming in sharp, erotic gasps.

The thrusts were deep, rhythmic, and incredibly vivid, echoing the possessive vow Cheng had made in the hall. It was a detailed account of two souls merging in the dark, where every moan from Heng was a sign of heartwarming trust and every mark Cheng left was a seal of an eternal bond. By the time the moon set, they were no longer just two people—they were a single force ready to take on an Empire.
