Chapter Ten:
The lock clicked.Lily's heart pounded wildly.
She quickly hid the phone behind her back.
The metal door creaked open.
Light spilled into the dark room.One of the masked men stepped in and commanded lily."You. Stand up."Lily hesitated.
He grabbed her arm and pulled her roughly.
"Move."She was dragged out into the hallway again.Her mind raced,and she was talking to herself .ethan said he was outside.
He's coming,just hold on. Then shortly they pushed her toward the stairs toUpstairs, where Sophia stood and was waiting for her."Calm" and "Cold"
"You'll be leaving soon," Sophia said.
"To Where?" Lily demanded,Sophia smiled faintly."Somewhere Ethan will never find you."Fear tightened in Lily's chest.
Then—A loud crash echoed outside.
Everyone froze.Another crash like a metal hitting metal.Sophia's expression changed.
"What was that?" Sophia asked
One of the men ran toward the entrance.
Then shouting erupted.A struggle and Footsteps that follows with punches and Someone yelled.
Then Ethan burst through the warehouse doors.Breathing hard with bruises all over his body."Lily!" Ethan called
Relief flooded her."ETHAN!" lily answered
He ran toward the direction that he heard her voice,But the men rushed him.
A fight exploded between Ethan and the guards,Ethan punched one of the guards and another guard grabbed him.
He kicked him away.Chaos filled the room.
Sophia backed away in annoyance. And said to Ethan "You shouldn't have come."
Ethan grabbed Lily's arm. "Come on!"
They ran towards the exit and they were almost there—Then Sophia pulled out a gun and commanded them .
"Stop."
They froze.
Lily's breath stopped. Sophia aimed calmly.
"You ruined everything, Ethan."
His voice hardened and he told Sophia to "Let her go."
"You should've stayed in the hospital."Sophia replied. Lily whispered,
"Please… don't do this."Sophia stepped closer and told her."I warned you."
Ethan moved slightly in front of Lily.
Protective.Sophia's eyes narrowed.
"You always play the hero."
Her finger tightened on the trigger. Lily's heart pounded.Ethan didn't move this time.
Then—There was loud siren outside.
One of the guard looked from the window and told Sophia that is Police men.
Sophia's eyes flickered. "Damn."
She grabbed Lily suddenly and pulled her back.Gun pressed to Lily's side.
"Everyone stop!"
Ethan froze. "Let her go, Sophia."
"No."
Police footsteps approached.Sophia dragged Lily toward the back exit.
"If I don't leave… she comes with me."
Lily struggled but she was already weak.
"Ethan!" moved forward and told Sophia.
"Don't."
Sophia tightened her grip.and said"I'll shoot."Police burst in immediately and commanded Sophia to drop the weapon!"
Sophia backed toward the rear door.
Everything tense.Then—A loud bang.
But not from Sophia. A sniper shot from outside shattered a window.
Sophia flinched and her grip loosened.
Lily twisted free from Sophia ,then
Ethan rushed forward to her and he grabbed her.They fell aside.Police tackled Sophia and her gun dropped.
It was over.Lily clung to Ethan.
"You came for me…"he held her tightly.
"I told you I would."She shook.
"I thought I lost you…"He touched her face gently."I'm not going anywhere."
Police handcuffed Sophia.she laughed softly "You think this ends here?"
Ethan frowned."What do you mean?"
Sophia smiled."You still don't know the truth."
Lily's stomach tightened."What truth?"
Sophia looked directly at her and said"You were never the target."Ethan's jaw tightened."Then who?"
Sophia's smile widened and said "You."
Ethan froze.Before he could react—
One officer ran in.
"Sir, we found something.""What?"
"A bomb… in the parking lot."
Everyone went still,Lily's heart stopped.
"What?"
The officer continued—"It's under Ethan's car… and the timer is already running."
