Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

The whole family had gathered. They were all praising Zhou Jin Rou.

One of the relatives saw Qixian and deliberately brought up a topic. "You had such a handsome, nice, and a young A-tier Alpha, it was such a blessing to have someone like Jin Rou, right? unlike the other one though..."

"My son, Jin Rou is just born smarter than Qixian but Qixian is an A-tier alpha as well, but his temperament is... difficult." Madam Zhou Xiayu, Jin Rou's and Qixian's mother, had said as if she said nothing wrong.

But Qixian heard all of it clearly that it made him clenched his teeth, of course he understood what's that mean. But he still showed up with a smile, he act as if he hadn't heard anything.

His father sat in silence, but Qixian ignored him entirely and sat straight down. The others stared at him, but the moment he shot back a cold look, they immediately shrunk away and busied themselves with whatever they were doing.

"Starting tomorrow, you'll start working at the company." His father said that made him set down his utensils.

He let out a sharp, jagged scoff. A dry smirk tugged at his lips as he drifted his gaze and said "Isn't your precious little son already at the company?" he said, his voice dripping with unimpressed irony as he look at his father dead in the eye. "Why the hell do you want to drag me into this" he made a gesture "family drama?"

"Qixian. We are in a family gathering." His mother warned.

"Fine. Do whatever you want." Dropping those words, Qixian pushed his chair back, the screech of wood against the floor cutting through his mother's warning. "Just leave me out of it."

"Is that how you treat you're parents? Have we ever taught you to act like that?" His mother said snapping at Qixian.

"Taught me? Why? Have you ever taught me anything?" Qixian barked back with a sarcastic tone.

"You—" His mother stopped herself, unable to think of what to say.

"Zhou Qixian!" His father's hand slammed onto the table, the silverware rattling against the wood.

"Dad, calm down. Qixian...sit down first." His older brother calmly said.

"Wow, what an act, brother Jin Rou" Qixian clapped his hands as he smiled bitterly.

"Can't you at least respect us? Why are you even like this, look at your older brother trying to be nice yet you're acting like that?" His father spat in rage.

"Of course he is, he's so precious that he has everything I don't." Qixian coldly said as he left the house without eating even a single bite. "What a fucking waste of time."

"Eh! Qixian!" His older brother called out as he followed Qixian outside and caught up to him and stopped him by holding his wrist. "Father was right you know, you should work on the company, you can't just hang around or idle away just because you have a rich family, and you can't just say things like that to our parents"

"Ah" he trailed off with a mocking tone "Is it because you can't find anyone to show off your skills and talents at the company that is why you wanted me to go, Jin Rou?" Qixian let out a bitter, humorless laugh, "You're the one who asked father about this, isn't it?" Qixian rolled his eyes "How is that? No one raised me, I don't have a mother nor a father to do that so how can I not say anything I want to people who don't even want to look at me?" He said with a scoff as he yanked his hand back. "Don't touch me, your hands disgust me."

His brother looked at Qixian as if Qixian is someone to be pitied on. "No matter what you tell them, you'll never be heard by them, you're just going to be hated, so just listen to them, Qixian, it's for your own good" Jin Rou patted Qixian's shoulder as he gets back inside leaving Qixian standing outside clenching his fist.

After a seconds he entered his car and started speeding off. The city lights started to blur as he drove, his hands shaking on the steering wheel.

He got a miles away from the house when he stopped his car and punched the steering wheel as he screamed, his fist clenched so hard he wanted to punched someone right on the face. He let out a sharp, jagged scoff. "Just wait until the results come out," he hissed as he felt a hot, suffocating pressure behind his ribs. A pure, unadulterated rage about how everyone always favor his older brother.

When he calmed down a bit, he drove to the club—his usual sanctuary for a drink or that when he is in a bad mood.

But in a minutes that he was there, not even 10 minutes that he was there, a sudden, violent crack of glass shattered the music, the sound slicing through the air like a gunshot. The room plunged into a cold, panicked silence as the wine began to bleed into the carpet, dark as a fresh stain.

The smell of the room made his blood boil that he yelled "I told you to get the hell away from me!" The omega hadn't moved an inch thinking that the young master she's serving are just joking around. But then a cold, metallic floral scent of spider lilies and rain on gravestones—a bittersweet nectar, and a sharp, ozone-like edge—flooded the room. It that made the server get on his knees and also made the omega freeze in her seat as if she has been buried alive. "I'm sorry young master Zhou, I'm sorry" the server pleaded as he signaled an order to the guards to take the omega away, but the omega is still stubborn, forcing the guards to drag her out instead.

The young master let out a short, sharp scoff and shook his head, a bitter smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth as he slowly calmed his pheromones down. "Get out." He said coldly as his gaze sweeping over the server who was already making his way out of the room.

Just then, his phone rang. The moment he saw the caller ID, his blood burned even hotter "ha! just the right timing" he muttered, a cynical smirk tugging at his lips as he answered the phone.

"Come back home, your mother is waiting for you," The voice on the other end was clearly impatient to the extreme.

"Is she?" Qixian said coldly.

"Zhou Qixian!—" Qixian cut him off.

"I honestly had no idea why I was even considered part of those occasions, Father, I just gave you stress so now, next time you shouldn't invite me ever again right?" He said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Zhou Qixian!—"

He hung up before his father could even finish his sentence. "One fucking headache after another." He complained as he drank his wine in one go.

"Yeah probably" Qixian looked at the person standing right outside the door. "In a bad mood again?" The person let out a playful laugh.

"Are you here to mock me? What about the person I told you to find? Did the results come out?" He asked and then sips at the wine bottle.

"Aye, give me a break at least~" The person said as he casually sat down on the couch and sat kicking the shattered glass on the floor. "You broke something again? Aren't you making it hard for me now?" Sigh "I should quit being your secretary" The person laugh in a playful way earning a glare from Qixian. "Here, I found him and here's the DNA test results." He said as he placed a picture of a guy at the table. "He really does looks like you, but in personality....hmmm....no way" Then he laugh again as if mocking Qixian.

Qixian kicked him that he almost fell from his seat. "Is he..." He trailed off as he scan the paper and the picture. "He's an omega? An A-tier omega? Why not S-tier?"

A sigh came out from the secretary's mouth. "I thought you're the smartest person I've ever met, I guess I'm wrong?" Then before Qixian could kick his ass again he stood up and back away fast enough like it's a reflex. "Not all twins have the same type and tier." The secretary leaned and whispered "Just because you're a—"

"Don't say that out loud, there's a lot of spies out there you know" Qixian cut him off.

"Ah right, but even though, they cannot hurt you, afterall you already announced and made all of them believe you're an A-tier Alpha, they cannot mess with you and this room is a soundproof, no one will hear me" The secretary shrugged.

"I can't always make an enemy right? Whatever I learned or did in controlling my pheromones like an A-tier alpha despite being a S-tier omega had a side effects, you know it, if I used my pheromones like an Alpha right?'

"Then don't use your pheromones often."

"Yeah, I know." Qixian replied.

"You are going to meet him?" The secretary asked a moment later.

"Of course I would, he's my twin brother"

"Then let's go. I'll take you to him—but we're using your car," Secretary Wu said, a sly, cat-like grin spreading across his face. His expression shining with the prospect of getting behind the wheel of Qixian's car.

Qixian let out a heavy, suffering sigh and performed a dramatic eye-roll, but he followed his secretary to the parking lot anyway.

"Are you going to tell your father about it?"

"No. If I told father about it, he might just become just like me, an outsider in his own house." Qixian continued reading the files.

"Make sense" The secretary replied as he started the car and drive. "Let's go to the clinic then"

"And why is his address a clinic?"

"Because he's a doctor?" The secretary said, as if telling Qixian 'are you even reading that?'

"He live in it and no other address written in here, does he not have a house?" Qixian clarified himself.

"That's what it says in the files so just believe it." The secretary made a gesture at the files as he drive. Qixian rolled his eyes at that.
