Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: What Is This Place?

Leon's eyes snapped open, his lungs filling abruptly with air as his hands flew to his chest without thinking.

His heart pounded hard, a sign that the fear from the accident with the car and Sofía was still there…

The fear and adrenaline of the moment still lingered inside him as his eyes darted around on their own while he tried to steady his breathing.

Once he managed to calm down a little, the first thing he noticed was the wall of the room he was in, along with the bed beneath him, which was absurdly large, big enough for six people to fit comfortably, if not more.

There was a set of black furniture and a window covered by enormous curtains, which still allowed a few rays of sunlight to pass through.

"Eh…" he muttered, noticing that his own voice sounded strange.

He lowered his gaze to his hands, slowly opening and closing them; they were slightly larger than he remembered, pale and remarkably well cared for to belong to a man.

'What happened?' he thought, confused.

Because the last thing he clearly remembered was jumping in front of the car to save Sofía, and there was no way he could have survived that accident, that vehicle had been going at high speed.

That wasn't the kind of thing you woke up from the next day in a bed with sheets that probably cost more than all his clothes for the entire year.

He slowly exhaled and let himself fall back onto the bed, arms spread out, his gaze fixed on the ceiling.

His body was already completely drenched in sweat, making his clothes cling to him, and his heart gradually began to slow down.

Leon brought a hand to his neck, feeling his pulse, which was still fast, but not as intense as before.

He stayed in that position for a moment, staring upward without focusing on anything in particular.

'Where am I?'

He asked himself, then sat up again, this time slowly, sitting at the edge of the bed, and it was then that he noticed long dark strands falling over his chest.

He looked at them, not understanding.

He raised his hands and brought them straight to his head, finding that it was his hair, which was much longer than it used to be, dark in color and easily reaching past his shoulders.

"What the hell is this?" he muttered, suspecting that for some reason things were about to get more complicated than he expected.

He then shifted his attention to the door beside the furniture, which, unlike the other one that was twice as large and clearly the main entrance, he assumed led to the bathroom.

So he stood up carefully, expecting his body to react strangely in some way, but it didn't.

His feet touched the ground, his legs supported his weight without any issue, and he walked toward the side door.

To his relief, it was indeed the bathroom. It was spacious and cold, slightly dim, but ignoring that, he went straight to the mirror.

And found a face that wasn't his.

He froze, eyes wide open, examining every detail.

It was handsome, not in the same way he used to be, but it was. He had long black hair falling along the sides of a sharply featured face, and eyes… red.

Not the sickly red of someone ill, but a natural, deep red. The body was tall, broad-shouldered, with the physique of someone who trained constantly.

He stared at himself for several minutes.

"Did I transmigrate or what?" he said out loud.

-x- -X- -x-

Leon was sitting at the edge of the bed, elbows resting on his knees, his gaze fixed on the floor.

What was strange to him wasn't that he had processed his current situation relatively quickly, but how calm he felt about it.

The act of transmigrating was the kind of thing that should cause a breakdown or at least a several-minute crisis, but for Leon… his mind was already processing his current situation.

He hoped Sofía was okay. That, he did think about, and he thought about it seriously, with a certain guilt for not being the best boyfriend in the world, but he still didn't want anything bad to happen to her.

Aside from that, the question circling in his mind was only one, and it was: what world was he in?

He had a new body he didn't recognize, a luxurious room. None of that gave him context. It could easily be anything, any story or world with its own rules.

And without information, it was impossible to know whether that was a good thing or a serious problem…

Just as he began to organize his thoughts, something appeared before his eyes.

A transparent screen suspended in the air, with clear text.

[Transmigration to: Hero Academy completed successfully.]

Leon went blank as he read the message.

"No way."
