Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Jean's Home

Screaming, she retreated until her path was blocked by the silk fence.

This reaction didn't stem from fear; rather, it was the accumulated experience and lessons left behind from countless monkeys being bitten to death by spiders during the process of biological evolution—a precious treasure etched into her DNA.

Therefore, this wasn't cowardice, but a form of respect for the lessons accumulated over millions of years.

At least, that's what Jean thought. It was definitely not because she was afraid of spiders!

Sensing the rich inner drama within Jean, even Shiraori couldn't help but retort, "Your DNA was kneaded together by 'D'; it doesn't have such strange things engraved in it. Don't blame everything on your DNA."

As expected of the Great Elroe Labyrinth's designated straight man, that was a very precise retort. Indeed, since even her gender had changed, it made no sense for her DNA to remain the same. It was just a pity that those ancestral chromosomes couldn't be passed on to anyone else.

Because Shiraori had diverted her attention for a moment, Jean calmed down, but immediately after, a rustling sound approached her.

After all, as Shiraori's earlier incarnations, these spiders possessed individual consciousness. Seeing the girl before them so afraid, the spiders were also in a difficult position. However, the order had been given, so they continued to move toward the girl.

Jean looked toward the source of the sound and saw countless white spiders, half the height of a human, staring intently at her while swarming toward her.

At that moment, it felt as if a string in Jean's mind had snapped.

"Don't come over here!!!"

She instinctively raised her hands, and with a strong desire, a green gale generated from her palms, blowing all the spiders in front of her away.

The spiders, blown scattered and disarrayed, were also hurt. Although this attack couldn't even leave a scratch on their resilient bodies, their hearts suffered a severe blow. After all, anyone would feel bad about approaching a pretty girl only to be so strongly rejected.

Shiraori was speechless as she watched the forlorn little expressions of her incarnations. She had given these incarnations too much autonomy back then, making it impossible to recall them all. She walked toward Jean again.

After seeing that all the spiders had disappeared, Jean's tense state of mind finally eased a little. She looked at her palms in surprise, "Is this what they call an adrenaline rush?"

"Sorry, sorry. I intended to do a normal test, but I didn't expect it to turn into shock therapy. Still, it looks like the results are pretty good."

"Don't say the results are good; you scared me to death, Sister."

Although it was just a polite way of addressing any woman she met as'Sister', Shiraori seemed to enjoy it. In particular, she smiled in front of Jean for the first time and gently patted Jean's head with her hand.

"It's okay, it's okay. But being able to fight back when facing things you are afraid of and terrified of is already excellent."

After some time of being comforted by Shiraori, Jean calmed down. Then, the joy of successfully releasing wind from her palms surged into her heart. After all, what child hasn't dreamed of freely manipulating elements?

Taking advantage of not having forgotten the feeling from just now, she carefully gathered wind in her palms. A beautiful light green vortex gradually formed. Although it didn't look cool or powerful, the emotion in her heart was beyond measure.

Like a child who had just received a new toy, she played with the vortex in her hands. But gradually, her body became more and more exhausted, and her mind began to grow dim.

Seeing this, Shiraori helped Jean to the bedside and said to her:

"You actually have a very good foundation in terms of both the quality and quantity of your energy. Those white spiders count as high-level monsters; just being able to blow them away is already quite good. However, your energy control still needs practice. You used too much at once, which caused your physical strength and mental energy to run out first, even though your elemental energy hasn't been exhausted yet."

Then she had Jean lie on the bed and placed her hand on Jean's forehead. A cool sensation permeated her brain, allowing Jean's head, which had been aching and dizzy, to recover its clarity.

Seeing that Jean's condition had improved significantly, Shiraori continued, "Next is the last thing for today: an explanation about this space."

Pausing for a moment, Shiraori took out a silver-white energy cube and placed it into Jean's hand.

"This is the last user permission. These types of spaces are divided into two categories: users and owners. You have already bound the owner permission, so you are the master of this space. These spaces were specially built and designed for living and count as luxury goods, but 'D' robbed the author of this space and got many sets for free, so they are also used as employee benefits."

Through Shiraori's introduction, Jean discovered that this space was a far more powerful place than she had imagined.

The space's overall functions were not complicated. First, it possessed a volume of 1200m³ (20m x 20m x 3m) and could freely change its geometric shape. Furthermore, one could use T-points to purchase or mine a type of ore with spatial properties to expand it.

Additionally, this space came with 500 tons of matter, which could freely change form according to the owner's imagination.

The owner and users could also use this matter to create food and water for consumption, and convert metabolic waste.

However, it should be noted that every conversion would result in energy loss, so matter needed to be replenished regularly.

At the same time, it could generate electricity or other energy held by the owner to power various devices. The energy loss from generation was actually quite small, which led to water being more expensive than electricity.

The last point: items created by the space could not be directly taken out of the space. However, energy and matter stored within the body (e.g., chemical energy and nutritional elements or other energy), as well as energy inside devices (e.g., battery charging), were exceptions.

"One final reminder: beings like me, who possess the ability to move through space even outside the world, can come and go freely as long as we have entered the interior of your room once. So, you must be very careful when inviting people in. See you tomorrow."

After giving that special warning, Shiraori left. She left Jean lying on the bed, staring at the unfamiliar ceiling and reflecting on this incredible day.

---

After resting and recovering, Jean began to try decorating her own space.

Having loved the decoration features in games for many years, she was naturally familiar with this. First, she created a snack to fill her stomach and then began to get busy.

Because she was the only one living there, and the bed was made by Shiraori and couldn't be moved, she built a modern-style bedroom centered around the bed, as well as a quite decent-looking living room.

At the same time, she turned nearly half of the space beside the bed into a large training area, at least ensuring she had enough room to move around.

Next, she enlarged the bathroom and arranged it like a large bathtub resembling a hot spring pool. There was no need for other things like a kitchen, so she omitted them entirely.

In the process of experimenting, Jean also created windows. Surprisingly, windows with outside scenery really appeared. It was just a pity that although there were day and night changes, the scenery wasn't real.

Finally, after changing the default position of the entrance and exit, Jean's new home was finally completed. After finishing the layout, she casually gave it a name.

"Hmm, let's name it — Jean's Home."

[Space naming confirmed — Jean's Home]

(Shiraori walks along an empty corridor.)

Shiraori: Hehehe ♪,'Sister', huh? That sounds really nice.

('D' suddenly appears behind Shiraori.)

'D': What sister? Did that child call you sister?

Shiraori: (Changes expression at light speed) What are you talking about? Nothing happened.

'D': Come to think of it, that should count as a type of instinct. Alright, I'm leaving first. Bye-bye~

Shiraori: Instinct? What instinct? Don't walk away, explain yourself! **, you idiot Evil God!
