~Elsie's POV
Four men were now standing in front of us at once.
They filled the room like they already owned it, like the space had been waiting for them and we were the mistake inside it. Their eyes moved over us slowly, and it was not normal looking. It felt wrong, like we were not people to them but something they had already decided what to do with.
Gianna tightened her grip on my hand so hard it hurt. I could feel her shaking more now.
One of them smiled slightly, but it was not a real smile. It was the kind that made my skin crawl.
"Well, well," he said slowly. "The boss will be happy to meet you."
I stepped slightly in front of Gianna without thinking, even though my body was screaming at me not to move.
"Do not come closer," I said, but my voice was not strong enough to sound like a warning.
The man tilted his head like he was amused.
"She still wants to talk," he said, and the others behind him chuckled lightly.
Gianna whispered behind me, "Elsie, do not."
