"Love Beyond the Last Breath"
The rain hadn't stopped for three nights.
Elena stood by the broken window of the old mansion, her fingers trembling as lightning split the sky. She had been warned not to come here—the abandoned house at the edge of the forest where people whispered about shadows that never left.
But love makes people do dangerous things.
"Adrian…" she whispered into the darkness.
A cold wind rushed through the hallway, carrying with it a faint voice.
"You shouldn't be here."
Her heart skipped. That voice—deep, familiar, haunting—was the one she had lost a year ago. The one that had died in a tragic accident… or so everyone believed.
"I came back for you," Elena said, stepping forward despite the fear crawling up her spine. "You promised me forever."
A figure slowly emerged from the shadows.
Adrian.
But something was wrong.
His skin was pale as death, his eyes hollow yet glowing faintly in the dark. His presence made the air colder, heavier—like the house itself was breathing with him.
"I kept my promise," he said softly, his voice echoing unnaturally. "Even death couldn't take me away from you."
Elena's eyes filled with tears. She wanted to run, scream, escape—but her heart pulled her closer.
"You… you're not alive," she whispered.
A sad smile curved his lips. "No. I'm not."
Thunder roared.
"I died that night," Adrian continued. "But I couldn't leave. Not without you."
The floor creaked as he stepped closer. The closer he came, the colder it became. Frost began to form on the walls.
"You feel it too, don't you?" he murmured. "This connection… this love… it's stronger than life itself."
Elena's breath trembled. "Adrian… this isn't right."
"Right?" His expression darkened. "What's right about a world that took me away from you?"
Suddenly, the door slammed shut behind her.
"I waited," he whispered. "Every night… alone… in darkness."
His hand reached out, cold as ice, touching her cheek.
"And now you're here."
Elena felt her heartbeat slow under his touch. Her fear melted into something deeper—something dangerous.
"I missed you," she said, tears falling.
Adrian's eyes softened. "Then stay with me."
The room grew darker.
"No more pain. No more separation."
His hand slid down to hers, gripping tightly.
"All you have to do… is never leave."
Elena hesitated.
Outside, the storm raged.
Inside, silence.
"Stay…" he whispered again.
She looked into his eyes—the same eyes she once loved, now filled with endless darkness.
And slowly…
She smiled.
"I'll stay."
The moment she said it, the candles blew out.
The house fell into complete darkness
And the next morning—
The villagers found the mansion empty.
No Elena.
No trace of her.
Only two shadows standing together in the upstairs window… unmoving… watching.
Forever.
