Chapter 20 - Chapter 20:No Safe Side

The streets don't forget.

And they don't forgive.

Dre drove in silence.

No music.

No distractions.

Just the low sound of the engine and his own thoughts.

The gunshots.

The looks.

Jayden's voice.

Amara standing there.

And most of all—

The moment he pulled the trigger.

He crossed a line.

Not just with them.

But with everyone.

"They gonna come for me…"

He said it out loud this time.

Because now—

It was real.

His phone lit up on the passenger seat.

Unknown number.

He stared at it.

Let it ring.

Then—

A message came in.

"You picked the wrong side."

Dre's jaw tightened.

He didn't reply.

Didn't need to.

Because whoever sent that—

Already knew.

Dre made a sharp turn into a darker street.

Less traffic.

Less eyes.

"I need to move different now…"

No usual spots.

No familiar places.

Nothing predictable.

There was nowhere safe.

Three men stood inside.

The same group.

The same ones from before.

One of them slammed his fist on a table.

"He flipped on us!"

Calm.

Controlled.

Dangerous.

"He didn't flip," the leader said.

"He chose."

"And now," he continued—

"He pays for it."

"Find him."

"Don't rush it."

"I want him to feel it.

This wasn't just revenge.

This was personal.

Dre parked in a quiet area.

Engine off.

Lights out.

He leaned back in his seat.

Closed his eyes.

Just for a second.

Jayden's voice echoed again:

"There's always a choice."

For a moment—

It hit him.

Hard.

He shook his head.

"No…"

This wasn't about feelings.

This was survival.

Dre stepped out of the car.

Looked around.

Then grabbed something from the back.

A bag.

Prepared.

Or at least—

Trying to be.

...

The energy was completely different.

Quiet.

Controlled.

Safe.

Jayden lay back, still weak.

Bandaged.

Breathing steady now.

She sat nearby.

Eyes on him.

Not saying much.

Everything changed.

Too fast.

Too real.

"You almost died."

"Almost don't count."

Because to her—

It did.

The producer stepped in again.

Phone in hand.

Serious.

"They called again."

Jayden looked up slightly.

"They serious."

"This ain't small," the producer continued.

"This is real opportunity."

Music.

A way out.

A future.

Enemies.

Blood.

Unfinished problems.

Because now—

Jayden wasn't just fighting to survive anymore…

He was fighting for a way out.
