The colour-soaked space around Rohan shifted, resolving gradually into something his mind could better categorise — not the green, sunlit landscape he'd glimpsed through the fracture's surface, not the outpost's cold metal laboratory either, but something suspended between the two, a liminal space that felt, the longer he existed within it, less like a location and more like a held breath between one reality and the next.

A figure began to take shape before him, indistinct at first, gradually resolving into something that might have been humanoid, though its edges continued to shift and blur in ways that made his eyes ache to look at directly — tall, robed in something that resembled shadow given texture, its face an ever-changing suggestion of features rather than anything fixed enough to properly describe.
