Chapter 86 - Chapter 86: Return to the Heavenly Order Sect

The journey back to the Heavenly Order Sect was far quieter than the march to the battlefield.

No disciple celebrated.

No elder spoke of victory.

Although they had forced the mysterious entities to retreat, no one believed the war had truly ended. Every cultivator who had witnessed the battle understood one terrifying truth—the enemies they faced were no longer ordinary cultivators. They were beings that existed beyond common understanding.

The silence followed them all the way to the sect.

As the towering gates came into view, countless disciples rushed out to welcome the returning expedition. Their excitement quickly faded when they saw the wounded elders, the exhausted formation masters, and the expressions on everyone's faces.

This was not the look of people returning from victory.

It was the look of survivors.

"The First Elder has returned!"

"The battle is over!"

"Did we win?"

Questions echoed through the mountain, but no one answered immediately.

The First Elder simply raised his hand, signaling everyone to remain calm.

"We protected the sect."

His voice spread throughout the mountain.

"But the war has only begun."

Those words silenced the entire Heavenly Order Sect.

Zarek walked through the crowd unnoticed.

Many disciples stared at him with admiration, others with fear. Rumors had already begun spreading before the expedition returned. Some claimed he had destroyed monsters capable of erasing techniques. Others insisted he had fought beings that even the elders dared not approach.

None of them knew the truth.

Even Zarek himself understood only a fraction of what had happened.

The System suddenly appeared before him.

Zarek frowned.

"Even you don't know."

The System remained silent.

That silence spoke louder than any explanation.

Inside the Grand Hall, the Sect Master listened carefully as the First Elder described every detail of the battle.

No one interrupted.

Every elder present wore a grave expression.

When the report reached the appearance of the Absolute Entity, several elders unconsciously tightened their fists.

"And you are certain..." the Sect Master finally asked, "...that it ignored spiritual techniques entirely?"

"It ignored everything," the First Elder replied. "Until Zarek discovered its contradiction."

The hall became silent again.

An elder who had remained quiet throughout the meeting finally spoke.

"I have searched the sect archives for over three hundred years."

"I have never encountered such an existence."

Another elder slowly shook his head.

"Perhaps we have been looking in the wrong records."

Those words caused everyone to look toward him.

He continued in a low voice.

"Perhaps they are not creatures of this era."

Meanwhile, Zarek stood alone at the highest cliff overlooking the sect.

The wind blew gently across the mountain.

His expression remained calm, but his thoughts were anything but peaceful.

He opened his palm.

Nothing appeared.

Yet he could feel it.

A faint, almost imperceptible fluctuation.

The Law Fragment.

It did not behave like spiritual energy.

It did not circulate through his meridians.

It simply... existed.

As though it had become part of his understanding rather than part of his cultivation.

The System appeared again.

Zarek's eyes narrowed.

"A new ability?"

The System did not reveal its name.

Whatever this power was, his current cultivation was insufficient to wield it.

Forcing it now could destroy him.

A soft voice interrupted his thoughts.

"You're hiding something."

Zarek turned.

Mira stood a few steps away, her hands behind her back, studying him with quiet concern.

"You've been different since you returned."

For a long moment, neither of them spoke.

Finally, Zarek answered.

"I saw a world beyond ours."

Mira looked confused.

"What do you mean?"

"There are enemies..."

He looked toward the endless horizon.

"...who don't measure strength the way we do."

His voice remained calm.

"If we continue cultivating the same way, we'll never reach them."

Mira could hear the certainty in his words.

For the first time, she realized that Zarek's gaze was no longer fixed on the Heavenly Order Sect.

Nor on the surrounding kingdoms.

His eyes were fixed on something far beyond the heavens.

That same night, deep beneath the Heavenly Order Sect, hidden in a chamber that had remained sealed for thousands of years, an ancient stone tablet trembled.

Dust slowly drifted from its surface.

Ancient runes, long believed to be dead, began glowing one after another.

A single line appeared.

"The First Law has returned."

Then...

Another line slowly carved itself into the stone.

"The Gate of Origins shall soon awaken."

Far away, beyond the reach of kingdoms and sects, a pair of ancient eyes slowly opened in the darkness.

A low voice echoed across the void.

"So..."

"The successor has finally appeared."

The darkness answered with silence.

But for the first time in countless ages...

It waited.
