Ray's POV
"I couldn't see."
"My eyes were covered in blood."
I watched the crowd change sides again because I was about to lose. It was the final fight, the one that would decide if the boss would accept my request.
After the last five fights, I realised that looking strong doesn't make you win, it's your will to fight that does and that's what has been making me win.
I stood up and refused to accept defeat.
I can't fail. At least not now! I had no strength left in my body but I fought with all I had till it was all over and I was victorious.
The joy that flowed through my veins as I won, as I saw the smile from Drae as he ran towards me. It gave me comfort and more strength.
I immediately knew that I won't fail again. I didn't faint this time at least.
After getting treatment and resting for the rest of the day, the next day I was told that the boss wanted to see me.
I got to his office and he was just smiling profoundly as he saw me.
"You've changed boy!" He said.
"These past fights have made me understand that you meant what you said and I will accept the deal. I will let you see your sisters if you keep fighting for me."
"Thank you boss." I said happily
The boss walked over to where I stood and held on to my shoulders.
"You can call me Klaus. You've earned it." He said.
My eyes widened. I didn't expect that, but i guess since I make more money for him now, he would give me a little privilege.
I didn't say anything. I just smiled then left to tell Drae the good news.
Drae was in disbelief. He couldn't believe it.
Then he suddenly asked me the question that hit me.
"Did he say when the girls would be free?"
I was struck by thought. Couldn't even smile anymore. He must have tricked me and I fell for it. But who knows? All I can do now is believe in the possibilities.
"He didn't tell me when but it's better to hold on to the thought that it could eventually work out." I said with a huge smile so that Drae can have hope.
Because hope is all we've got.
Klaus POV
"Are you seriously going to free the boy's sister's?"
I scoffed.
Then I proceeded to take a sip of my alcohol.
"What do you take me for Kasa?" I asked.
"Do you take me for a fool?"
"No, I'm just curious because you're being too lenient with the boy. You even told him your name." He said bluntly.
I let out a loud laugh.
"Come sit with me, let's have a drink together." I said to him,
He came to sit with me, then I poured a cup for him.
"Everything is already in place. All you have to do is watch as everything unfolds." I said.
**Then we clinged our cups together while smiling.
Ray's POV
A year passed and all I did most of the time was to fight and win, then train. I barely had time to go on missions with Drae. It felt like there was a little drift between us.
I had a bit of money that I was given by Kasa after any fight I won. And I won all the fights so far. I was unstoppable. At least that's how I felt.
I saved most of my money to go out with Drae. We had fun during our free time. I walked around the neighborhood.
We basically had already gotten used to the neighborhood and people got friendly with us. Mostly because I was getting popular by every fight I won.
People started knowing my name.
It felt good in a way because fighting has always been my dream and it was finally working out.
Drae and I went out for a drink at night. We decided to have a conversation, it's been a while afterall.
We reminisced of the time back at the orphanage home, the kids, the animal shaped pancakes and the girls.
"I've been thinking, what's the plan to escape this place?" Drae asked.
I had no words. I was surprised, I had never thought of that since we came here. That's when it occurred to me, I never had a plan to leave in the first place.
"Don't you think we've stayed here for too long. At this rate we'll soon start killing people. Things would eventually get serious." He said.
"No. We can't escape. What of the girls?" I asked.
"We have a bit of cash now. We can use it to find the girls. What do you think?" Drae said.
I stood up and turned my back at him.
"No!" I said.
"Why? Are you enjoying this? The injuries we give to innocent people just to please Klaus."
"Do you enjoy it?" Drae asked.
"No I don't!" I shouted as I turned forward.
"Then why?"
"What's your reason? What could you possibly love so much about this place?" He shouted in anger.
"Answer me!!" He said as he grabbed my shoulders.
I couldn't say anything. How could I tell him that I actually like my new life here and that I don't want to leave. What would he say about it? I was left in thoughts.
Then he said something I didn't expect him to know about.
"Is it because of Melissa?"
