Chapter 17 - CHAPTER 17: The Celestial Eye Explained

Luo Chen immediately made his way to the sect master's tower, barely pausing to return the cultivation manual to the library. He needed answers, and he needed them quickly.

Tian Qing received him in the same study where they had first discussed his unusual cultivation path.

"Ah, so the Celestial Eye has awakened," the sect master said calmly, as if this was an expected and even welcome development. "This was inevitable, given the depth of your understanding of space and time. The Celestial Eye is a natural evolution of the dual law cultivation."

"What exactly is it, Sect Master?" Luo Chen asked, sitting across from the sect master. "It seems far more significant than a simple perceptual ability."

The sect master stood and walked to a window overlooking the sect's grounds. "Every cultivator has the potential for what is called 'spiritual sight.' This is the ability to perceive qi directly, without relying on physical senses. Most cultivators learn to develop this ability to some degree, which is why they can sense enemies from great distances and perceive cultivation bases from across a room.

"However, the Celestial Eye is something far greater. It is the development of a new sensory organ in the area between your eyebrows, in a location that corresponds to what some call the 'mind's eye' or the 'seat of inner vision.' Unlike normal spiritual sight, which perceives only qi, the Celestial Eye can perceive the very laws that govern reality."

Tian Qing turned back to face Luo Chen.

"With the Celestial Eye awakened, you can see space as it truly is—a three-dimensional membrane floating on an ocean of infinite dimensions. You can perceive time as a river of causality, flowing from past to future, from cause to effect. You can see the threads connecting all things, the hidden relationships between disparate phenomena. This is why the First Immortal was so powerful. With the Celestial Eye, even a relatively weak cultivator can become formidable through perfect strategic foresight and spatial awareness."

Luo Chen absorbed this information carefully. "Is it dangerous to use?"

"Extremely. The more you look through the Celestial Eye, the more you will begin to perceive. Eventually, if you look too deeply, you might perceive things that your mind was not meant to comprehend—the true structure of the cosmos, the presence of entities beyond the current reality, the raw truth of existence itself. Such knowledge can shatter a cultivator's sanity."

The sect master paused, then added, "But that is a problem for your future. For now, learn to use the eye in moderation. Practice controlling it, so you can activate and deactivate it as needed. And do not show this ability to anyone outside of our small circle of trust. The Celestial Eye is even more suspicious a sign of advanced cultivation than the dual law cultivation itself."
