The world didn't feel as broken as before.
Not completely.
But something had changed.
The sky was no longer as dark as it used to be. The deep red had faded slightly, and the air didn't feel as heavy. The wind moved again. The silence was still there—but now, it was softer.
People had started adjusting.
They had to.
Half the world was gone. That truth didn't change. But the ones who remained had begun to accept it in their own way. Shops opened again. Roads slowly filled with movement. Work had reduced, but life had not stopped.
People talked less about what happened.
But they didn't forget.
They couldn't.
The ones who disappeared didn't feel real anymore… but they also never fully left. They stayed in memories, in small habits, in empty spaces that still felt full.
It had been more than a week now.
And the world… was learning how to live again.
But not everyone moved on.
Ben Tennyson didn't.
While the world tried to settle, Ben stayed in the same place—caught between what happened and what he needed to do.
He stood alone near the same road, looking at the sky.
It wasn't as red now.
But it still didn't feel right.
His hand rested on the Omnitrix.
Quiet.
Still.
Waiting.
"I'm going to fix this," he said slowly.
This time, there was no anger in his voice.
Just certainty.
For the past few days, Ben had been trying something new.
Not fighting.
Not running.
Just… focusing.
He stood still, eyes closed, breathing slowly, trying to control his thoughts. The Grandmaster had said it before—his power now depended on his will.
At first, it didn't work.
His mind kept going back to the same memories.
The bus.
Gwen.
Max.
But slowly… he started holding onto something else.
A single thought.
"I will bring them back."
He repeated it again.
And again.
And again.
His breathing became steady.
His hand tightened slightly.
The Omnitrix reacted.
A faint yellow light appeared.
Ben opened his eyes.
"…It's working."
A message appeared on the screen.
"It's time. Get ready."
Ben looked at it for a second.
Then nodded slightly.
"So it starts now."
A soft light formed in front of him.
The Grandmaster appeared.
Calm as always.
But this time, Ben didn't react with anger.
He was ready.
"Your training begins today," the Grandmaster said.
Ben asked, "What do I need to do?"
The Grandmaster stepped closer.
"First, you need to understand what you are dealing with."
The air around them shifted.
The world faded slightly.
A new space formed.
Empty.
Dark.
Then—
Lines of light appeared.
Thousands of them.
Stretching in different directions.
Ben looked around.
"What is this?"
The Grandmaster answered, "The multiverse."
Ben stared.
Each line was glowing.
Some were bright.
Some were weak.
Some moved slowly.
"These are timelines," the Grandmaster said. "Each one is a different reality."
Ben stepped forward slightly.
"They all exist at the same time?"
"Yes."
Ben watched carefully.
"If one changes… what happens?"
The Grandmaster replied, "A new universe is created."
Ben frowned.
"And the old one?"
"It begins to collapse."
Ben's expression changed.
"And if that happens…"
The Grandmaster looked at him.
"The people you lost… may never return. And even if they do… they may not remember you."
Ben froze.
"They won't remember me?"
"Yes."
The words hit harder than expected.
"You may fix everything," the Grandmaster continued, "but in the wrong timeline… you will become a stranger."
Ben looked at the glowing lines again.
"So one mistake… and everything changes."
"Yes."
The Grandmaster raised his hand.
"One of your aliens will help you control this."
A symbol appeared in the air.
"This alien can move within timelines… and prevent new universes from forming."
Ben focused.
"What's its name?"
The Grandmaster said—
"Chronovex."
The name stayed in the air.
"Chronovex can stabilize timelines," the Grandmaster explained. "If something goes wrong, it can correct it."
Ben asked, "Then why not use it all the time?"
"Because it has limits," the Grandmaster replied.
He continued, "You can only use its full power three times."
Ben looked serious now.
"Only three?"
"Yes."
"And after that?"
"You will need extreme willpower… and time."
"How much time?" Ben asked.
"One year to recover."
Ben went quiet.
"So I can't waste it."
"No."
"Try it," the Grandmaster said.
Ben looked at his Omnitrix.
The yellow light was still there.
He took a breath.
Focused.
"Chronovex."
The Omnitrix activated.
Energy spread across his arm.
His body changed.
His hands turned black, like they were made of shadow and light together.
His eyes turned white.
Everything around him changed.
Time became visible.
Lines.
Moving.
Flowing.
Ben looked around.
"I can see it…"
The timelines were glowing green.
Beautiful.
Alive.
He stepped closer.
And then—
He saw something.
A small section of one timeline.
A familiar place.
A bus.
Gwen.
Max.
They were there.
Smiling.
Talking.
Alive.
Ben's chest tightened.
"…They're there."
For a moment, everything else disappeared.
He stepped closer.
He wanted to reach them.
Just once.
Just to say something.
Suddenly—
The vision broke.
The form disappeared.
Ben dropped back to normal.
Breathing heavy.
"What… happened?"
The Grandmaster spoke.
"You lost focus."
Ben looked at him.
"You let your emotions control you."
Ben clenched his fist.
"I saw them…"
"I know," the Grandmaster said.
"And that is why this is difficult."
The timelines faded.
The space returned to normal.
"You cannot let your feelings take control," the Grandmaster said. "If you do… you will break the very thing you are trying to fix."
Ben stayed silent.
Then he nodded slowly.
"…This won't be easy."
"No," the Grandmaster replied.
"But it is necessary."
Ben looked at his hand.
Then at the sky.
Then back at the Grandmaster.
"I'll learn."
His voice was calm.
"But I won't stop."
The Grandmaster watched him.
For the first time—
There was a slight approval in his eyes.
Far away—
One timeline flickered.
Very slightly.
Almost unnoticeable.
But not stable.
Not yet.
