Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Someone Who Refused to Disappear

For a moment… nothing happened.

The world stayed the same.

The night remained silent.

But inside him—

Everything changed.

A sudden pressure built in his chest.

Like something was trying to break out.

His heartbeat accelerated.

Thump.

Thump.

Thump.

"Why… does it feel like this…?"

Ravi held his head as a sharp pain shot through his brain.

Then—

A voice.

Cold. Mechanical.

Unfamiliar.

[SYSTEM INITIALIZING…]

Ravi froze.

"…What was that?"

He looked around.

No one.

No sound.

But the voice—

It wasn't outside.

It was inside his mind.

[HOST DETECTED: RAVI]

[STATUS: UNSTABLE EXISTENCE]

[ERROR: SUBJECT MARKED FOR ERASURE]

His breath stopped.

"Erasure…?"

That word again.

The same feeling.

The same fear.

The same reality he had been living his entire life.

Ignored. Overlooked. Forgotten.

As if he never existed.

Flashbacks hit him all at once—

A teacher skipping his name during attendance.

Classmates not noticing when he left.

Friends who never really saw him.

Even at home—

Silence.

Ravi clenched his fists.

"Tch…"

His nails dug into his palm.

"I'm right here…"

[CONFIRMATION REQUIRED]

[DO YOU WISH TO EXIST?]

The question echoed.

Again.

And again.

Simple words.

But heavy.

Too heavy.

For someone who had been invisible his whole life…

What did existence even mean?

Ravi stayed silent.

For a second.

Two seconds.

Three—

[WARNING: NO RESPONSE WILL RESULT IN PERMANENT ERASURE]

His eyes widened.

Something snapped inside him.

"I'm done staying quiet…"

His voice was low.

But firm.

"All my life… I waited…"

"For someone to notice me…"

"For someone to care…"

His breathing steadied.

His eyes sharpened.

"But no one came."

A pause.

Then—

He looked straight ahead.

"So this time…"

"I choose myself."

The silence broke.

[RESPONSE ACCEPTED]

[EXISTENCE CONFIRMED]

A blinding surge of energy exploded inside him.

Ravi screamed as his body lifted slightly off the ground.

Pain rushed through every nerve.

But this pain—

It wasn't destroying him.

It was rebuilding him.

[SYSTEM AWAKENING…]

His vision turned white.

His thoughts scattered.

Memories. Fear. Anger. Loneliness.

Everything fused together.

Then—

Darkness.

A few seconds later—

Ravi dropped to the ground.

Gasping for air.

Sweat covered his body.

But something felt different.

Clearer.

Sharper.

Stronger.

"…What… just happened…?"

A glowing blue screen appeared in front of him.

Floating.

Alive.

[WELCOME, RAVI]

Level: 1

Existence Rank: Fragile

Strength: 5

Speed: 6

Endurance: 4

Awareness: 10

Ravi stared at it in shock.

"This… is real?"

[SKILL UNLOCKED]

→ Perception Pulse (Level 1)

"Skill…?"

Before he could process—

A sudden chill ran down his spine.

[WARNING: ENTITY DETECTED]

Ravi froze.

"…Entity?"

The terrace looked empty.

But his instincts screamed—

You're not alone.

Without thinking—

He activated the skill.

A ripple spread from his body.

And then—

He saw it.

A shadow.

Standing in the corner.

Twisted. Unstable.

Not human.

"…What is that…?"

[ENTITY TYPE: ERASURE WRAITH]

[THREAT LEVEL: LOW]

Low?

It didn't feel low.

Not at all.

The wraith moved.

Slowly.

Then suddenly—

It lunged.

"Shit—!"

Ravi barely dodged.

Its hand passed through his chest area.

Cold.

Deadly.

"If that hit…"

He didn't finish the sentence.

His heart raced.

But this time—

He didn't freeze.

"Calm down… think…"

He observed.

Carefully.

Its movements.

Its speed.

Its pattern.

"My awareness is high…"

"That means… I can read it."

The wraith attacked again.

Faster.

Ravi stepped aside.

Perfect timing.

"Got you."

He punched.

His fist connected.

The shadow flickered.

"…I can hit it?"

A small smile appeared.

"For the first time…"

"I'm not helpless."

The wraith screamed silently and charged again.

But Ravi moved first.

Step.

Turn.

Strike.

Each move sharper than before.

Cleaner.

Faster.

It felt like his body was learning on its own.

[COMBAT EXPERIENCE GAINED]

"So this is how it works…"

The wraith became unstable.

Flickering rapidly.

One final attack.

Ravi waited.

Calculated.

"Now."

He stepped forward—

And punched straight through its core.

The shadow froze.

Then shattered into nothingness.

Silence.

Ravi stood there.

Breathing heavily.

[ENEMY DEFEATED]

[EXP +20]

[LEVEL UP]

"…I won…"

Not in class.

Not in life.

But here—

He had finally won something.

He looked at his hands.

Then at the sky.

"This world…"

"…is not normal."

His eyes changed.

Something deeper.

Stronger.

"If something wants to erase me…"

He clenched his fist.

"Then it better be ready."

Because Ravi—

The boy who was invisible…

The one no one noticed…

Was gone.

In his place—

Stood someone new.

Someone who refused to disappear.

The wind brushed past Ravi's face, but this time… he didn't feel small.

He felt present.

For the first time, the world didn't seem like a place where he had to beg for attention.

It felt like a battlefield… and he had finally stepped onto it.

Ravi slowly opened his hand, staring at his fingers.

"They can see me now…" he whispered.

But deep inside, he knew—

This wasn't about others anymore.

This was about him.

A faint glow flickered around his body.

Not bright.

Not overwhelming.

But steady.

Like a flame that refused to go out.

[SYSTEM STATUS: STABLE]

[HOST CONDITION: EVOLVING]

Ravi exhaled slowly.

"Evolving…"

A small smile appeared on his face.

"Good."

He turned his gaze toward the dark city.

Somewhere out there—

More threats.

More answers.

More truth.

"If this system chose me…"

"Then there's a reason."

His eyes hardened.

No hesitation.

No doubt.

"I won't just survive anymore."

His fist clenched tightly.

"I'll grow stronger."

"Stronger than anyone who ever ignored me…"

"Stronger than anything that tries to erase me…"

A pause.

Then—

"I'll become someone this world can't ignore."

The air around him shifted slightly.

As if responding to his will.

And far away—

Something unseen…

Was watching.

Not with curiosity.

But with interest.

Ravi didn't notice.

Not yet.

But one thing was certain—

This wasn't the end of his awakening.

It was just the beginning of something far bigger.

Because now—

Ravi wasn't just existing.

He was rising.
