Jordy woke up slowly, like his body didn't want to leave the moment behind.
For a few seconds, he didn't move. His eyes stayed closed as he tried to piece together where he was, what had happened, why everything felt… different.
Then it came back.
Everything.
His eyes opened gently, and the first thing he saw was Matt.
Still asleep.
Jordy turned slightly on the bed, facing him fully now. The room was quiet, soft morning light slipping through the curtains and resting gently across Matt's face.
He looked peaceful.
More peaceful than Jordy had ever seen him.
There was no tension in his expression, no guarded look in his eyes, no confusion. Just calm.
Jordy found himself staring.
He didn't even realize how long he had been looking until he slowly reached out, almost without thinking, and brushed a few strands of hair away from Matt's face.
His fingers lingered for a second.
"Yeah…" he whispered softly to himself, a small smile forming. "You're actually really handsome."
Matt didn't stir.
Jordy let out a quiet breath, then carefully slipped out of the bed, trying not to wake him.
The floor felt cool under his feet as he walked to the restroom. He closed the door gently behind him before turning on the tap.
Cold water rushed out, filling the silence.
He leaned over the sink, splashing water onto his face, trying to wake himself up properly. He ran his fingers through his hair, smoothing it back, then did it again like he wasn't satisfied.
His reflection stared back at him.
And for once, he didn't overthink it.
Meanwhile, back in the room, Matt shifted slightly in his sleep.
The faint sound of running water reached him.
His brows furrowed just a little as his eyes slowly opened.
He blinked once.
Twice.
Then he turned his head, scanning the room.
Empty.
For a brief second, something in his chest tightened, like he thought it had all been a dream.
Then he heard the water again.
From the restroom.
Matt let out a quiet breath and sat up slowly, running a hand through his hair. He stared ahead for a moment, his mind catching up with reality.
Last night wasn't a dream.
It actually happened.
He leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on his knees, his gaze distant.
"Wow…" he muttered under his breath.
A few seconds later, the restroom door opened.
Matt looked up immediately.
Jordy stepped out, drying his face with a towel, his hair slightly damp and pushed back. He looked fresh, awake, and somehow… even better than before.
Matt blinked, then let out a small smile.
"Morning," he said.
Jordy looked at him and smiled back. "Good morning."
There was a brief pause.
Then Matt stood up and closed the distance between them, gently pulling Jordy closer before pressing a soft kiss against his lips.
Jordy smiled into it.
"Okay," Jordy said quietly as they pulled apart. "That's a good way to start the day."
Matt chuckled softly. "I thought so too."
Jordy moved to the edge of the bed and sat down, using the towel to dry his hair properly this time. He rubbed it lightly, focusing on getting the water out.
Matt watched him for a second, then slowly moved closer, sliding over to Jordy's side of the bed.
Without saying anything, he wrapped his arms around Jordy's waist from behind.
Jordy paused mid-motion. "Matt…"
Matt didn't respond with words.
Instead, he leaned in and pressed his lips against Jordy's neck.
Jordy flinched slightly, then laughed. "Hey, that tickles!"
Matt smiled against his skin but didn't stop. "Stay still."
"I can't stay still if you're doing that," Jordy said, laughing again, trying to pull away slightly.
Matt tightened his hold just a little. "You're not going anywhere."
Jordy shook his head, still smiling. "You're actually annoying, you know that?"
"And you like it," Matt replied confidently.
Jordy rolled his eyes, though the smile on his face didn't fade. "Maybe a little."
Matt pulled back slightly, studying him. "How do you look this good this early in the morning?"
Jordy glanced at him. "I already washed up."
Matt groaned, letting his head drop onto Jordy's shoulder. "That sounds like effort."
"It is," Jordy said, amused. "You should try it."
Matt didn't move. "I'll pass."
Jordy laughed softly. "No, you won't. Go and wash up."
Matt tightened his grip again. "I don't feel like getting up."
"You have to," Jordy said, nudging him slightly. "We're leaving soon."
Matt sighed dramatically. "This is why I don't like mornings."
Jordy turned slightly, looking at him. "You're the one who planned the trip."
"Yeah, but I didn't plan for it to end this fast."
Jordy's expression softened slightly at that.
He didn't say anything right away.
Instead, he gently pushed Matt's arm. "Come on. Get up."
Matt groaned again but finally let go, though not without one last quick kiss on Jordy's cheek.
"Fine," he muttered, dragging himself off the bed.
Jordy watched him with a small smile as he made his way toward the restroom.
"Don't fall asleep in there," Jordy called after him.
"No promises," Matt replied.
Jordy shook his head, still smiling.
While Matt was in the restroom, Jordy got dressed. He moved around the room calmly, packing up the few things he had brought with him.
There was a strange feeling in his chest.
Not heavy.
Just… aware.
By the time Matt came out, drying his hair with a towel, Jordy was already dressed and ready.
Matt stopped for a second, looking at him.
"You're done already?" he asked.
Jordy nodded. "Yeah."
Matt narrowed his eyes playfully. "Why do I feel like you're in a hurry to ditch me?"
Jordy laughed. "I'm not ditching you."
"Feels like it," Matt said, walking closer.
Jordy shook his head. "I just don't like being late."
Matt studied him for a moment, then smiled. "Fair enough."
He got dressed quickly, not taking as much time as Jordy had expected.
Soon enough, they were both ready.
They left the room together, stepping out into the morning air.
The drive started off quiet.
Not awkward.
Just quiet in a comfortable way.
After a while, they stopped to get something to eat. It wasn't anything fancy, just something quick, but neither of them seemed to mind.
They ate, talked a little, laughed here and there, like they were trying to hold onto the moment just a little longer.
Then they got back on the road.
Matt was driving.
Jordy sat beside him, relaxed, looking out the window as the scenery passed by.
At some point, Matt reached over and took Jordy's hand.
Jordy looked down at their hands, then at him.
Matt kept his eyes on the road, but his grip tightened slightly.
"I don't want this to end," Matt said quietly.
Jordy felt something shift in his chest again.
"Yeah," he replied softly. "Me neither."
Matt glanced at him briefly, then back at the road.
A few minutes passed.
Then another.
Jordy noticed Matt looking at him again.
And again.
"Matt," Jordy said, trying not to laugh.
Matt didn't respond.
"You're staring."
"I'm not," Matt said.
"You are," Jordy replied, turning to him slightly.
Matt glanced at him again, this time longer.
Jordy shook his head. "Eyes on the road. You're driving."
Matt smiled faintly. "I know."
"Then act like it," Jordy said, amused.
Matt chuckled under his breath but finally focused properly on the road.
Their hands remained together.
Neither of them pulled away.
And as the car moved forward, heading back to reality, neither of them said it out loud…
But they both knew things weren't going to be the same anymore.
