Even from across the distance, Seraphina felt the temperature seem to drop. It was a subtle change, but sharp enough to make the hair on her arms stand up.
There was a brief, suffocating silence between Damon and his yet unknown guest.
Seraphina listened with absolute attention.
"Why would my father send you to me when he could have just called?" Damon's voice was a low growl now.
"He said you'd understand."
Footsteps followed. They were coming closer.
Seraphina's head lifted, her eyes fixated on the arched doorway as the voices moved further into the suite.
And then….The visitor stepped into view.
Seraphina's breath hitched in her throat, her heart skipping a beat as she realized exactly who had been sent to Damon.
