Chapter 19 - Chapter 19 ~ Walking Into the Trap

Brevis Draven didn't waste time.

Within minutes after the helicopter disappeared, his entire organization was already moving.

Cars filled the underground garage.

Weapons were being loaded.

Phones were ringing nonstop.

The atmosphere inside the headquarters had changed completely.

This was no longer just business.

This was war.

Brevis stood in the center of the command room, watching the giant screens as his men tracked every signal they could find.

"Satellite footage," he ordered.

"Already pulling it up," one of the technicians replied.

Images began flashing across the monitors.

The helicopter that took Luna had been seen heading toward the coast.

Brevis's jaw tightened.

"Zoom."

The image sharpened.

The aircraft disappeared into a section of abandoned industrial docks outside the city.

Brevis leaned closer.

"There."

One of the men nodded.

"That area has several old warehouses."

Brevis spoke calmly.

"He's hiding there."

Another man looked unsure.

"Sir… it could be a trap."

Brevis didn't even look at him.

"It is a trap."

The man blinked.

"Then we shouldn't rush in."

Brevis turned slowly.

His eyes were cold.

"I'm not asking for advice."

The room went silent.

He pointed at the screen.

"Prepare the convoy."

"Yes, boss."

Within seconds the entire room erupted into motion.

Brevis walked toward the weapons table.

He picked up a black handgun and checked the magazine.

Loaded.

Then he grabbed a combat knife and slid it into his jacket.

One of his men approached cautiously.

"Sir… you don't have to go personally."

Brevis looked at him.

"Adrian took something from me."

The man nodded slowly.

"I understand."

Brevis shook his head.

"No."

His voice dropped lower.

"You don't."

---

Meanwhile

Luna paced slowly inside the dim room.

Adrian had left after their conversation.

But she knew he wasn't far.

The cameras were still watching her.

She stopped near the table and leaned against it.

Her mind kept replaying Adrian's words.

"Brevis is walking straight into a trap."

Her stomach twisted.

Adrian always told the truth when it came to strategy.

That was the part that scared her most.

The door opened again.

Luna turned quickly.

Adrian stepped inside.

He looked calm.

Too calm.

"You look worried," he said.

Luna glared at him.

"You know why."

Adrian walked across the room slowly.

"He'll come for you."

"Yes."

"And you're afraid he'll die."

Luna didn't answer.

Adrian smiled faintly.

"That's interesting."

"What is?"

"You didn't care about anyone when you worked for me."

Luna's voice hardened.

"That was before."

"Before what?"

She hesitated.

Then she said quietly,

"Before I realized what you were becoming."

Adrian studied her for a moment.

"You're lying."

"No."

"Yes."

He stepped closer.

"You didn't leave because I changed."

Luna looked away.

"You left because you were afraid."

Her eyes snapped back to him.

"Afraid of what?"

Adrian's voice softened slightly.

"Of how much power we could have together."

Luna shook her head.

"That's not true."

Adrian didn't argue.

Instead he asked quietly,

"Do you know what Brevis is doing right now?"

Luna's chest tightened.

"He's coming here."

Adrian nodded.

"Yes."

"And you're going to kill him."

Adrian looked genuinely surprised.

"Kill him?"

"Yes."

Adrian laughed softly.

"No."

Luna frowned.

"You're not?"

Adrian's smile returned.

"No."

"Then why bring him here?"

Adrian leaned back slightly.

"Because I want to meet him properly."

Luna stared at him.

"You're insane."

Adrian tilted his head slightly.

"Maybe."

Then he added calmly,

"But I'm also curious."

"About what?"

"About the man who managed to keep you."

Luna's voice became sharp.

"I'm not something he keeps."

Adrian raised an eyebrow.

"That's what you think."

Before Luna could respond—

A loud sound echoed through the building.

Gunfire.

Luna froze.

Adrian looked toward the door calmly.

"Ah."

"What?"

Adrian's smile widened slightly.

"He's here."

Luna's heart started racing.

More gunshots echoed outside.

Shouting.

Running footsteps.

Brevis had arrived.

Adrian walked toward the door.

"You should stay here."

Luna grabbed his arm.

"No."

Adrian looked down at her hand.

"You want to see this?"

"Yes."

Adrian studied her face.

Then he nodded.

"Fine."

---

Outside the Warehouse

Brevis's men stormed the building from every direction.

Gunfire exploded through the empty dockyard.

Adrian's guards fought back, but Brevis's team moved faster.

One by one—

The guards dropped.

Brevis kicked open the main warehouse door.

His gun was already raised.

Inside—

Several bodies lay across the floor.

But Adrian wasn't there.

Brevis stepped forward slowly.

"Clear the building."

His men spread out immediately.

Brevis moved deeper into the warehouse.

Then he heard footsteps.

Not his men.

Someone else.

He turned.

And there—

Standing at the far end of the room—

Was Adrian Kross.

Completely calm.

His hands were empty.

Brevis aimed the gun directly at his chest.

"Where is she?"

Adrian smiled slightly.

"Hello to you too."

Brevis's voice was ice.

"Where is Luna?"

Adrian nodded toward the metal staircase behind him.

"She's upstairs."

Brevis didn't move.

"If she's hurt—"

Adrian interrupted calmly.

"She's not."

Brevis studied him carefully.

"You expected me."

"Yes."

Brevis lowered the gun slightly.

"That's bold."

Adrian shrugged.

"You're predictable."

Brevis smirked.

"And you're arrogant."

Adrian chuckled.

"That too."

They stood there for a moment.

Two predators facing each other.

Brevis finally spoke again.

"I'm taking her."

Adrian tilted his head slightly.

"That depends."

"On what?"

Adrian's voice became quieter.

"On whether she wants to leave."

Brevis frowned.

"What?"

Adrian stepped aside slightly.

"Go ask her."

Brevis didn't trust him.

But he moved toward the staircase anyway.

Adrian didn't stop him.

Halfway up the stairs—

Brevis paused.

"Why are you doing this?"

Adrian answered calmly.

"Because this game was never about you."

Brevis looked down at him.

"Then what is it about?"

Adrian's eyes lifted slowly.

"Her."

Brevis turned and continued climbing.

At the top of the stairs—

The door opened.

And Luna stood there.

Alive.

Brevis's shoulders relaxed slightly.

But the look on Luna's face wasn't relief.

It was fear.

Brevis stepped closer.

"Are you okay?"

Luna nodded.

"Yes."

Brevis held out his hand.

"Come with me."

Luna looked at his hand.

Then she whispered something that made his heart sink.

"It's not that simple."

Brevis frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Luna looked toward the warehouse floor.

Where Adrian was still standing below.

Then she said quietly—

"Because Adrian didn't bring you here to kill you."

Brevis's voice hardened.

"Then why?"

Luna's eyes filled with dread.

"Because someone else is coming."

And right at that moment—

The loud roar of several vehicles echoed outside the warehouse.

Brevis and Adrian both looked toward the entrance.

Headlights suddenly flooded the building.

Dozens of black cars surrounded the docks.

Adrian's expression finally became serious.

Brevis whispered,

"Who the hell is that?"

Luna's voice trembled slightly.

"The people from the list."
