Chapter 27 - Chapter 27 ~ The Price of Power

The first gunshot changed everything.

It shattered the fragile line between control and chaos.

And this time—

There was no going back.

---

The Port – Seconds After

Gunfire exploded in every direction.

Metal crates sparked as bullets ricocheted.

The air filled with smoke, tension, and the sharp scent of blood.

Brevis moved first.

Fast. Brutal. Precise.

He grabbed Luna and pulled her behind a steel container just as bullets tore through the space where she had been standing.

"You trying to get yourself killed?" he snapped.

Luna didn't answer.

Her eyes were locked on Victor.

Focused.

Unshaken.

Adrian moved like a shadow across the battlefield.

Silent.

Deadly.

He disarmed two men in seconds, using their own momentum against them.

Victor stepped back, shielded by his guards.

His expression—

Still calm.

Still calculating.

But something had changed.

Just a little.

Luna saw it.

And that was enough.

---

The Fight Intensifies

"Left!" Brevis shouted.

Luna reacted instantly, firing toward the incoming attackers.

Two men dropped.

Adrian joined them, covering the other side.

For a moment—

They moved in sync.

Like they had done this a hundred times before.

Like enemies who understood each other too well.

Brevis smirked slightly.

"Not bad."

Adrian didn't respond.

He was already moving again.

---

Arman

In the middle of the chaos—

Arman remained tied to the chair.

Bleeding.

Barely conscious.

Luna saw him.

Her chest tightened.

She moved.

Brevis grabbed her arm.

"Where are you going?"

"He's still alive."

"He's also the reason we're in this mess."

"I know."

"Then leave him."

Luna looked at him.

"No."

Brevis cursed under his breath.

"Fine. I'm coming with you."

Adrian's voice cut in.

"I'll cover you."

For a split second—

They all understood their roles.

And moved.

---

Reaching Arman

Bullets flew past them as they ran.

Brevis took down two guards.

Adrian cleared the path.

Luna reached Arman first.

She dropped to her knees beside him.

"Arman."

His eyes barely opened.

"…Luna…"

Her hands moved quickly, cutting the ropes.

"Stay with me."

Arman gave a weak, broken smile.

"You shouldn't have come."

Luna's voice hardened.

"I don't leave people behind."

Arman coughed, blood staining his lips.

"You always were like your father."

That hit differently.

Luna didn't respond.

She helped him up.

"Can you walk?"

"Barely."

Brevis stepped in, lifting him roughly.

"Good enough."

---

The Shift

But then—

Everything changed.

A single shot echoed louder than the rest.

Too close.

Too precise.

Luna froze.

Brevis stopped.

Adrian turned sharply.

Arman's body went still.

For a moment—

No one understood what had happened.

Then—

Blood.

Spreading.

Slowly.

From Arman's chest.

Luna's breath caught.

"No…"

Brevis looked down.

"…Damn."

Adrian's eyes darkened instantly.

Victor.

From across the port—

Victor stood with a gun in his hand.

Still aimed.

Still steady.

Still cold.

"I told you," he said calmly.

"Loose ends."

Arman collapsed.

His weight slipping from Brevis's grip.

Luna caught him before he hit the ground.

"Stay with me!"

Arman's eyes found hers.

Fading.

Weak.

"…You were never meant to survive this world…"

Her vision blurred.

"Don't talk."

He smiled faintly.

"…You were meant to rule it…"

His hand lifted slightly.

Shaking.

"…Don't make my mistake…"

Then—

It fell.

Still.

Gone.

---

Silence

The gunfire faded.

Not because the fight was over—

But because something heavier had taken its place.

Loss.

Real.

Final.

Luna didn't move.

Her hands still on Arman's body.

Her breathing shallow.

Brevis stepped back slightly.

His jaw clenched.

He had seen death before.

But this—

This was different.

Adrian didn't look away.

He watched Luna.

Because he knew—

This moment would change her.

Forever.

---

Victor Steps Forward

Victor walked slowly toward them.

Unafraid.

Untouched.

"You hesitated," he said.

Luna didn't respond.

"You had the chance to kill him."

Still nothing.

Victor tilted his head slightly.

"And now he's dead anyway."

Silence.

Then—

Luna moved.

Slowly.

Carefully.

She placed Arman's body down.

Stood up.

Turned.

And faced Victor.

Her eyes—

Were no longer uncertain.

No longer conflicted.

They were cold.

Clear.

Burning.

"You're right," she said quietly.

Victor smiled faintly.

"I usually am."

Luna stepped forward.

"But you made one mistake."

Victor raised an eyebrow.

"Oh?"

Luna's voice dropped.

"You thought I needed your permission to become something dangerous."

Silence.

Brevis felt it.

Adrian saw it.

Victor… noticed it.

Luna lifted her gun.

Steady.

Unshaking.

"You just gave me a reason."

And then—

She fired.

---

The Final Clash

Everything exploded again.

But this time—

It wasn't just a fight.

It was personal.

Brevis moved like a storm.

Unstoppable.

Every shot deliberate.

Every hit brutal.

Adrian was faster than ever.

Deadlier.

More focused.

Because now—

They weren't just fighting Victor.

They were fighting for Luna.

And Luna—

She was no longer holding back.

Every move she made was precise.

Every decision clear.

She didn't hesitate.

Didn't doubt.

Didn't look back.

Victor's men began to fall.

One by one.

Until—

Only Victor remained.

Standing.

Watching.

Calculating.

He lowered his weapon slowly.

A small smile forming.

"Now I see it."

Luna didn't lower her gun.

"See what?"

Victor's voice was almost… impressed.

"Why they couldn't control you."

Silence.

"You're not just your father's daughter."

Luna stepped closer.

"No."

Victor nodded slightly.

"You're worse."

Brevis muttered,

"I think he means better."

Adrian stayed silent.

Watching.

Always watching.

Victor looked at all three of them.

Then back at Luna.

"This isn't over."

Luna's voice was calm.

"I know."

Victor stepped backward.

Into the shadows.

His men closing in around him.

And just like that—

He was gone.

---

Aftermath

The port was quiet again.

But nothing felt the same.

Brevis lowered his gun.

"Well…"

He exhaled.

"That was a disaster."

Adrian didn't respond.

His eyes were still on Luna.

She stood there.

Still.

Silent.

Changed.

Brevis stepped closer.

"You okay?"

Luna didn't answer immediately.

Then—

She said quietly,

"Yes."

But this time—

It wasn't soft.

It wasn't uncertain.

It was something else.

Something stronger.

Adrian finally spoke.

"You crossed a line tonight."

Luna looked at him.

"I know."

Brevis added,

"No going back now."

Luna nodded.

"I don't want to."

Silence settled between them.

Then Luna looked toward the horizon.

Where Victor had disappeared.

Her voice became calm.

Cold.

Certain.

"This ends with him."

Adrian nodded.

"Yes."

Brevis smirked slightly.

"Good."

Then he added—

"Because next time…"

His eyes darkened.

"…we don't let him walk away."
