Chapter 3 - Chapter 3:Waking up to reality

In a world the demonic war god where dragons soared and wizards cast spells, Drake was a brave warrior who fought side by side with his friend Silver. They had just completed a mighty quest, conquering a horde of goblins threating to invade the starting village the weight of happiness and feelings of fighting digital world with silver was so intoxicating but he new it had to end . Today, however, Drake felt a heavy weight in his heart. He looked at his surroundings in the game, full of vibrant colors and bustling towns, and felt pain creeping into his mind about reality.

Drake logged out of the game and removed his helmet. He sat quietly in his small room, staring at the walls that seemed to close in on him. His apartment was old and cramped, filled with clutter from his long hours spent gaming. He thought about work and his struggles there. It was not just the job; it was the way he was treated by the bullies in the alley. Drake sighed deeply, knowing that he had to face them again tomorrow.

The next morning, he braced himself and left his apartment to go to work. The sun was shining, but it did little to lighten his mood. As he walked down the sidewalk, he could feel his heart beating faster. He turned into the alley and came face to face with the gang of boys who made his life miserable. They always loitered there, waiting for someone to bother.

"Look who it is, the loser," laughed one of the boys, his voice dripping with mockery. Dargo, the gang leader, stood tall among them. He was broad-shouldered and had a sneer that made him look even meaner. Drake felt a familiar swirl of fear in his stomach, but today was different. He remembered his courage from the game and how he faced monstrous foes. Perhaps he could do the same here.

With a deep breath, he gathered his courage. "Dargo!" he called out, trying to sound strong. "You need to call your boys into order. This isn't a game."

The gang looked at him in surprise. Normally, Drake was quiet, always avoiding confrontation. Dargo raised an eyebrow, but his followers laughed, making Drake's heart race. "What did you say? You think you can stand up to me?" Dargo replied arrogantly.

Drake's heart thudded in his chest. He realized Dargo would not take him seriously. In the game, he could shout spells and create wonders. Here, he needed other words. So with thoughts of the game fresh in his mind, he yelled, "And your mothers? They're just the same; they're wh*res, always looking for a good time!"

The air went silent. For a heartbeat, no one moved. Dargo's face turned crimson with anger. He stepped forward, fists clenched. "You think that you can insult me and get away with it? You're gonna pay for that!"

Before Drake could take a step back, Dargo called on his lackey, a boy named Baxter, who was bigger and stronger. "Get him!" Dargo shouted.

Baxter rushed at Drake, and the gang cheered him on. Drake stumbled back, trying to dodge, but he was not as quick as in the game. Baxter grabbed him and slammed him against the cold, hard wall of the alley. Pain shot through Drake's body, and he felt helpless.

Despite the fear boiling inside him, he decided not to go down without saying anything. "You're all just scared little boys!" he yelled, trying to redirect his anger into words. "This is who you are, bullying someone weaker to feel strong!"

Baxter, however, didn't listen. He threw several punches, each blow landing harder than the last. Drake could hear the laughter from the others echoing off the walls, but in his mind, the sounds of a digital world flooded over him. He recalled moments of victory, the dragons, the treasure, moments that made him feel alive.

But here, in this alley, he felt none of that power. Drake struggled, trying to defend himself with all he had. Baxter eventually stopped, pushing him down to the asphalt. He was left ruffled, lying alone in the alley as Dargo and his gang walked away, the echoes of their laughter fading.

Drake picked himself up slowly. The bruises ached, but it was the sting of defeat that hurt more. He saw the daylight shining through the narrow opening of the alley, a reminder of the world outside this place. He took a deep breath, leaning against the wall for support. He thought about all the strength he had shown in the game, battling epic monsters and forming strong friendships.

Now, in reality, he felt smaller, but deep inside he knew he had to keep fighting—not just in this alley, but in life. Drake decided he would train himself, mentally and physically. He knew he had allies in Silver and others from the game whom he could talk to. They had encouraged him in the fantasy world; maybe they could do the same in real life.

Drake stood tall, pushing himself from the wall. Though he was hurt, he refused to let this moment break him. One day, he would gather the strength to stand up to Dargo and his gang properly. Until then, he would not fade away like a forgotten character in an old game. He would prepare himself for the real battles ahead, both in and out of the digital realm. He new from today the journey of how life just started, what he doesn't know is through that encounter something inside of him snapped
