Wilhelm is a bit taken a back by the noise,
"The thing that just made that noise, was it the same creature that attacked your carriage?"
He said, his gaze not leaving the direction of the noise.
Farnese who's visibly scared and sweating looks at him,
"I... I don't know. What even are those?"
She said.
Wilhelm didn't even respond, he keeps staring at the direction the noise was from for a while when suddenly.
He's tackled by a bloodied man like creature covered in thin fur into the campfire, extinguishing it.
The creature lunges at him again and this time grabbed his neck with its hands.
It starts to choke him.
Wilhelm uses his right hand to try and make the creature lose its grip on him while starting to bash the creature's head with his left hand.
Wilhelm made strangled noises while continuing to try and break free.
In pitch black, Farnese tries to locate the stick that Wilhelm dropped when he's tackled.
She grope the ground carefully, knowing that the stick have rusty nails on it.
'Please don't die, please don't die, if you die I'll die too. Just wait for me, please'
She thinks while continuing to grope the ground.
She feels something touched her elbow when she gropes forward and goes to grab it. It's a decently big stone,
"This will do"
She said walking to the direction where Wilhelm was tackled to.
Wilhelm is nearly free of the creature when the creature screeched in pain.
From the moonlight he sees that Farnese struck the creature on the head with the stone, he took this chance to stab the side of the creature's head with his right hand, piercing its brain.
The creature's screeching stopped and he is finally free.
He took deep breaths on the ground,
"Farnese was it... Thank you... Fuck that hurts"
He said while grabbing his scratched neck.
"Don't mention it... Truly, I can't just let you die there."
She said while extending her hand towards him.
As he grabbed her hand and got up.
They both hear many of the same screeching noise the creature made.
Farnese's eyes widen and she almost cried from sheer terror.
Wilhelm however just dragged her into a tall bush and hides with her there, covering her mouth.
They both take a peek outside, their expression changes from horror, to disgust.
They see many Silhouettes of creatures laughing and screeching, they seems to be parading with a bunch of torn limbs, heads, and they're wearing intestines like they're some sort of macabre scarf.
Wilhelm holds himself from vomiting while Farnese is crying, her cries muffled by Wilhelm's hand.
'Those people... Oh God, oh God, what did I do wrong for you to make me witness such vile act. What are these creatures'
She thinks while her tears keep flowing.
They both stay hidden until the last of the creatures are gone.
Wilhelm stands first, looking at the surroundings,
"It seems like we're save for now, man... What the actual fuck was that..."
He extended a hand towards Farnese,
"Come on, we won't be save for long here, we'll be better of moving places than staying here"
He said still holding himself to not vomit.
Farnese stands on her own her tears have dried up,
"Y- yeah, you're right... Let's go"
she said, forcing a smile.
They starts walking on the thick forest, after a while, their feet starts to ache. They finally reached a dirt road.
"Hey, Wilhelm? If I may ask, why were you camping there in the first place?"
Farnese said, glancing at him a bit.
"I don't know, I woke up there a few weeks ago, haven't gotten out of that damn forest until now"
Wilhelm replied, which made Farnese very confused, worried and suspicious.
"Whe- when you said are you that willing to die, do you know that these monsters exist there?"
Farnese asked him. Her tone clearly insinuating that she's not as comfortable with him after his answer.
Wilhelm rubs his still injured neck,
"Well not exactly, I've encountered many wild animals and bandits there, not those things"
Wilhelm muttered.
After a while of walking, dawn starts to arrive.
They hear bells and then a voice,
"Hey kids! What the hell are you two doing here in these area, do you want to die?"
Says a bald merchant with unkempt beard on a wagon.
The wagon stopped and the merchant gestured at them,
"Come on, I'll give you a ride to Weakbill village"
Says the merchant.
