When Todoroki, Shoji, and Toru and I walked out of the building into the sun
"Mephisto! That was absolutely brilliant!" Toru squealed, her hands gesticulating wildly from the sudden movement of the air around her. "I heard that giant Shoji on the stairs yelling that he had me, and I thought it was over! And then you showed up and tied him up in the blink of an eye! You really got them both by yourself?!"
"It was a team effort, Toru," I smiled, looking in the direction where the invisible face was bobbing in the air. "If you hadn't distracted Shoji up by the bomb, he could have rushed to Todoroki's aid or guarded the area better. You did your part perfectly."
"Really?! Yay!" she cheered, and I caught a glimpse of Todoroki in my peripheral vision. He was standing a short distance away, his hands clasped together, staring at me intently. His face was carved from stone, but his eyes held a mixture of deep frustration and reluctant recognition.
When we arrived, the atmosphere in the control room was so tense. As soon as the door opened, the entire class of 1-A turned to look at me as if I were a ghost.
Izuku Midoriya stood in the middle of the room, his eyes on top of his head, his good left hand already frantically flipping through his notebook. "That... that was incredible, Mephisto! How did you manage to neutralize Todoroki's ice wave with one blow?! And then... on those screens it looked like you literally melted into the steam! Is it an optical illusion, or can you manipulate the density of your body and light through your quir?! And the speed at which you ran after Shoji... I didn't even have time to catch it with my eyes!" he began to mumble like a machine gun. "It was just the right moment of surprise, Midoriya," I answered him calmly, although I was quite amused by his analytical fervor in my mind.
"No surprise there, man, that was pure dominance!" Kirishima shouted, his eyes shining with admiration and he pointed a thumb at me. "Todoroki froze the entire building in a second and you just shattered it into dust! And then tie up both bad guys in a flash? That's what I call manly style! And that armor of yours... you look like some kind of dark knight in it!"
"Excellent tactical reasoning, Mephisto," Momo Yaoyorozu's cool, rational voice said. "You realized that fighting in an enclosed space covered in ice would disadvantage your invisible partner, so you eliminated the first threat, immediately moved to the second, and won by fulfilling the simulation conditions by capturing the entire enemy team without unnecessary destruction. Very professional."
All Might stood afar, a broad smile on his face, but there was a deep shadow of seriousness in his eyes as they watched me. As the Symbol of Peace, he knew very well the powerful power I held within me. He knew that my abilities were unlike anything he had ever seen in fifteen-year-old students.
"YOUNG MEPHISTO!" All Might thundered, placing his giant palm on my shoulder. "Your lightning-fast judgment, speed, and control of the situation were exemplary! You were able to capture both opponents with minimal effort and protect your partner! However..." All Might lowered his voice for a second so that only I could hear him. "Remember, a hero must always think about the safety of his surroundings. That shockwave was controlled, but in a real city it could cause damage. Be careful."
"I understand, All Might," I nodded with one hundred percent calm. I guess he was just trying to give me some direction.
But in the corner of the room stood someone who radiated pure, uncontrolled murderous intent. Katsuki Bakugo. His body trembled slightly, his teeth clenched so tightly that his lips turned white, and the air around his palms crackled ominously with small explosions. First Deku, who had humiliated him by using an ability and not getting hurt, and now this white-haired, horned bastard who had just walked into the building and defeated Todoroki, the recommendation boy Bakugo considered his greatest rival, and had also taken out Shoji in a split second. He had defeated the entire team as if they were just annoying flies.
Bakugo was burning me with a look that was a mixture of hurt pride and pure hatred. He realized that he was no longer the strongest king of the playground in U.A. There was someone completely different at the top of the food chain now.
"My lord," Agron's cool, amused voice came to my mind from the shadow of my cloak. "That blond boy will soon try to destroy you. His pride has been shattered. Should I take him into my care when the opportunity arises?"Leave him alone, Agron,I answered him in my mind and turned my back on Bakugo with complete disinterest. His anger is his own weakness. Let him drown in it."
The other teams' matches then continued, but for me and the rest of the class, the main highlight of the day was already over.
