Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Blood and Bond

The moment his words fell—

Chaos erupted.

The dark figures lunged forward, crossing the border line like shadows unleashed.

"Attack!" one of Damon's warriors shouted.

The forest exploded into movement.

Growls, snarls, and the clash of bodies filled the air as wolves shifted mid-run, bones cracking, fur bursting through skin.

I froze for a split second—

Until Damon grabbed my arm.

"Stay with me!" he ordered.

His body shifted instantly, massive and powerful, his black wolf towering over everyone else. His aura alone was enough to make weaker wolves hesitate.

But these enemies?

They didn't hesitate.

They charged straight toward us.

"Why are they so focused on me?" I shouted, stumbling back as the fight closed in around us.

"Because they know what you are!" Damon's voice echoed in my mind through the link.

A rogue lunged at me.

I barely reacted in time, stumbling aside as claws sliced through the air where I had been standing.

My heart pounded violently.

I wasn't ready for this.

I couldn't fight like them.

Another attacker came from the side—

But before he could reach me, Damon's wolf slammed into him, sending him crashing into a tree with a sickening crack.

"Focus!" Damon growled through the link.

"I'm trying!" I snapped back.

But panic was rising fast.

Everywhere I looked, there was blood.

Screams.

Violence.

And those strangers… they weren't normal rogues.

They were coordinated.

Strategic.

Hunting me.

"Circle her!" one of them shouted.

My breath hitched as three of them began closing in, their eyes locked onto me like predators cornering prey.

"No…" I whispered, backing away.

My wolf stirred, restless and afraid.

We can't fight them, she whimpered.

But something deep inside me disagreed.

That same energy from before began to stir again.

Low.

Dangerous.

Waiting.

"Damon…" I called out, my voice shaking.

"I feel it again."

There was a brief pause in the chaos.

Then his voice came, sharp and urgent.

"Don't suppress it."

"What if I lose control?"

"You already are," he snapped. "Let it out!"

Another attacker lunged at me.

This time—

I didn't run.

The moment his claws came down—

Something inside me snapped.

A burst of power exploded outward from my body, stronger than before.

The attacker was thrown back violently, slamming into the ground.

The others froze for a split second, shock flashing across their faces.

Even Damon paused.

I stood there, breathing heavily, staring at my hands.

Energy flickered faintly around them.

"What… am I?" I whispered.

"You're finally waking up," one of the enemies said, his voice filled with dark excitement.

My head snapped up.

It was the same man from before.

The one who had smiled at me.

He stepped forward slowly, completely unfazed by the chaos around him.

"You've grown stronger than we expected," he continued.

Damon moved protectively in front of me again, his wolf growling low.

"Take one more step and I'll rip your throat out."

The man chuckled.

"Tempting. But unnecessary."

His eyes flicked to me again.

"You don't even know what you are, do you?"

I clenched my fists.

"Stay away from me."

He ignored that completely.

"You're not just from a powerful bloodline," he said.

"You are the bloodline."

My heart skipped.

"What does that mean?" I demanded.

"It means," he said calmly, "your power doesn't come from being an Alpha… or a Luna."

He smiled again.

"It comes from something far older."

A chill ran through me.

Damon's growl deepened.

"Stop talking."

"Oh, but she deserves to know," the man replied.

Then, in a flash—

He moved.

Faster than I could see.

Before I could react, he was right in front of me.

His hand shot out, grabbing my wrist.

Pain exploded through my body as that same energy inside me reacted violently.

I screamed.

"Let her go!" Damon roared.

He lunged forward, but two enemies blocked him, holding him back just long enough.

The man leaned closer to me, his grip tightening.

"Yes… it's there," he whispered, almost in awe.

"The power of the first blood."

My vision blurred.

"Get… off me…" I gasped.

"Come with us," he said softly. "And we'll teach you how to use it."

"I'm not going anywhere with you!"

For a moment, his expression hardened.

"Then I'll take you by force."

Rage exploded inside me.

Not fear.

Not pain.

Rage.

The energy surged again—wild and uncontrollable.

"DON'T TOUCH ME!" I screamed.

This time, the blast that erupted from me was massive.

A shockwave tore through the battlefield, throwing everyone back—including Damon.

The man holding me lost his grip instantly, sent flying across the clearing.

Silence followed.

Deafening silence.

I stood at the center of it all, my body shaking, power radiating from me in waves.

No one moved.

No one spoke.

Even the enemies looked stunned.

Damon slowly pushed himself up, his eyes locked on me.

But this time…

There was no coldness.

Only shock.

And something else.

Fear.

"What… have I become?" I whispered.

The man let out a low laugh as he rose to his feet, blood at the corner of his lips.

"Now this…" he said, wiping it away,

"This is why we came."

Damon stepped forward again, his stance firm despite the chaos.

"You're leaving," he said coldly.

The man tilted his head.

"For now."

His gaze lingered on me.

"But we'll be back."

My heart sank.

"You can't hide her forever, Alpha."

With a final smirk, he motioned to the others.

"Fall back."

Reluctantly, the remaining attackers retreated into the darkness, disappearing as quickly as they had come.

The forest fell silent once again.

But it wasn't over.

Not even close.

Damon turned to me slowly.

"You need to tell me exactly what you felt," he said.

But I could barely hear him.

Because deep inside me…

That power was still there.

Growing.

Waiting.

And for the first time—

I was terrified of myself. 🔥
