Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 17:COUNCIL WAR COUNCIL

The death of the Council Hunter did not bring silence.

It brought panic.

And panic, inside the Alpha Council, was dangerous.

Far beneath the stone mountains, torches flickered violently as if the walls themselves were reacting.

The circular chamber that once held calculated calm now felt… unstable.

High Alpha Darius stood at the center, unmoving.

But his eyes had changed.

Sharper.

Colder.

More focused than before.

"She destroyed a Hunter," one council member said quietly.

Another slammed his hand on the table.

"That thing was supposed to erase her instantly!"

A third voice broke in.

"Then she's no longer just awakened… she's evolved."

Silence followed that statement.

Because no one wanted to accept what it meant.

Darius finally spoke.

"She is not evolving," he said calmly.

"She is remembering."

That single word made the room feel heavier.

Remembering.

Not learning.

Not growing.

Remembering what she already was.

One of the older council members leaned forward.

"Then we accelerate the second phase," he said.

"Full elimination. No more Hunters. No more games."

Another shook his head.

"That will expose us."

Darius turned slightly.

"We are already exposed."

That shut everyone up.

For the first time, the Alpha Council was no longer in control of the situation.

They were reacting.

And reacting meant vulnerability.

Meanwhile…

On a distant ridge overlooking three territories, Lira stood alone.

The wind moved around her slowly now, almost respectfully.

Beside her, Ronan watched her carefully.

"You felt it again, didn't you?" he asked.

Lira nodded slightly.

"Yes."

Ronan frowned. "Another Hunter?"

Lira shook her head.

"No."

A pause.

"Something bigger."

Ronan went silent.

That was not the answer he wanted.

Far beneath the council chamber…

Hidden doors opened.

Warriors began to move.

Not Hunters.

Not scouts.

But Council Enforcers.

Elite Alphas trained for one purpose:

To wage war against threats that could not be controlled.

Darius's voice echoed through the chamber.

"Send the Enforcers."

Gasps filled the room.

"Darius, that's too early"

But he raised his hand.

"No more hesitation."

His gaze hardened.

"If she reaches full awakening before we contain her…"

A pause.

"…then the Moon Goddess will not return alone."

The room fell silent.

Because they all understood what that meant.

It meant war between worlds.

Back with Lira…

The air shifted again.

This time not subtle.

Not distant.

Immediate.

Ronan straightened quickly.

"They're coming," he said.

Lira closed her eyes briefly.

"I know."

Ronan looked at her. "How many?"

Lira opened her eyes.

This time

There was no uncertainty.

"Enough to start a war."

A long silence followed.

The wind around them began to swirl faster.

The rogues behind them gathered nervously.

But Lira didn't move.

Didn't prepare.

Didn't panic.

Instead

She took one slow step forward.

"If they want war," she said quietly.

"Then I will show them what a Goddess remembers when she stops being merciful."

Ronan exhaled sharply.

"That sounds like a lot of death waiting to happen."

Lira's eyes glowed faintly.

"No," she corrected.

"That sounds like truth finally arriving."

In the distance…

The first signal horn echoed across the mountains.

Not one.

Not two.

But many.

The Council Enforcers had been released.

The war had officially begun.

And every territory would feel it.
