Chapter 10 - Chapter:9 Glowing Eyes

The child shows supernatural signs.

The evening was quiet inside the small apartment. Rain tapped softly against the window while Mei Lin folded laundry on the couch. After a long day at work, this was the only peaceful moment she had.

Her six-year-old son, Liang Rui, was sitting on the floor nearby playing with his toy cars.

"Rui, don't make too much noise," Mei Lin said gently. "Your neighbors will complain again."

"Okay, Mommy," the boy replied innocently.

But five minutes later, a loud crack suddenly echoed through the room.

Mei Lin jumped.

She turned around quickly and saw Rui standing beside the coffee table. One of the wooden table legs had snapped clean in half.

Her eyes widened.

"Rui… what happened?"

The boy looked confused.

"I didn't do anything," he said.

Mei Lin walked closer to the table. The wood looked like it had been crushed by something very strong.

She stared at her small son.

"You didn't kick it?"

"No," Rui said quickly, shaking his head. "I just pushed it a little."

Mei Lin frowned.

"That table is heavy, Rui. You can't break it by pushing."

The boy looked down at his hands as if he was thinking about it.

"I didn't mean to break it."

Mei Lin sighed softly and crouched beside him.

"It's okay. Just be more careful next time."

But deep inside, she felt uneasy.

Rui was only six years old.

How could he break a solid wooden table?

She decided not to think too much about it.

Kids sometimes did strange things.

Still… the image of the broken wood stayed in her mind.

Later that night, Rui went to bed early.

Mei Lin tucked the blanket around him and kissed his forehead.

"Good night, Mommy," he murmured sleepily.

"Good night, sweetheart."

She turned off the light and closed the door quietly.

But only a few hours later, a strange sound woke her up.

A soft whimper.

"Mommy…"

Mei Lin immediately got out of bed and walked to Rui's room.

"Rui?"

When she opened the door, she saw him sitting up in bed, breathing heavily.

"What's wrong?" she asked worriedly.

"I had a bad dream."

She walked closer and sat beside him.

"It's okay. Mommy's here."

But suddenly Rui looked up at her.

And Mei Lin froze.

For a brief moment, his eyes flashed a strange golden color.

Her heart skipped.

"Rui…?"

The boy blinked.

And the color disappeared instantly.

Now his eyes looked completely normal again.

Mei Lin stared at him.

"Mommy?" he asked.

She forced a smile.

"It's nothing. Go back to sleep."

But her mind was racing.

Did I imagine that?

Golden eyes?

That was impossible.

Maybe she was just tired.

After calming him down, she returned to her room.

Still, she couldn't sleep.

Something about that moment felt wrong.

Meanwhile, across the city, Liang Zhen sat inside his office on the top floor of Zhen Group.

The entire building was dark except for his office light.

He was reviewing documents when suddenly he paused.

A strange sensation ran through his chest.

His wolf stirred restlessly.

That hadn't happened in years.

Liang Zhen frowned.

"Why now?"

His instincts were reacting to something.

Something nearby.

But he couldn't understand what it was.

At the same moment, Zhang Ming entered the office holding a tablet.

"Boss, the report you asked for—"

He stopped when he noticed Liang Zhen's expression.

"Something wrong?"

Liang Zhen leaned back slowly.

"I felt something strange."

"What kind of strange?"

"My wolf reacted."

Zhang Ming looked surprised.

"That hasn't happened in a long time."

"I know."

Liang Zhen stared out the window at the city lights.

His instincts rarely made mistakes.

Somewhere in this city…

Something important had appeared.

Back in the apartment, Rui suddenly opened his eyes again.

The room was completely dark.

For a moment, his pupils slowly shifted.

The faint golden glow returned.

Then it disappeared again.

The little boy simply rolled over and fell asleep peacefully.

Unaware that something inside him had already begun to awaken.
