The sixth territory was the one Dael had marked as the deepest wound in the seven.

Not the most complex root network. Not the highest fragment-carrier count. The deepest wound in the specific sense that the between-space withdrawal here had been most complete — the departure leaving the least residual between-space presence of any location in the documented territories.

The closest thing to total absence.

The town was called Drevenmoor.

Medium sized — twenty thousand people, the specific scale of a place important enough to have institutional infrastructure but not large enough to have diluted the wound's concentrated effect. The between-space absence here was dense. Not the airy thinness of ordinary territory — the specific density of something that had been absent so long it had become its own kind of presence.

The absence occupying the space the between-space had left.
