Chapter 2 - A Starfleet That Can Only Recruit Female Soldiers?

"Random selection begins…"

Before Zachary could think further, a cursor began to move rapidly among the three options, like a roulette wheel.

Finally, the cursor stopped on "Option Two".

"Congratulations, Host, you have acquired 'Fleet Luck Value Bonus' and 'Eye of Insight.' Please unconditionally enforce the rule that 'the Fleet can only recruit female soldiers.' If violated, the above two rewards will be revoked, and you will receive an unknown punishment!!!"

Zachary covered his face.

*Only recruiting female soldiers… this rule is a bit much, isn't it…* But for some reason, Zachary still felt a tiny bit of anticipation.

First, back to the main topic. Since this fact couldn't be changed, he would just let nature take its course.

Let's first look at the two rewards he received.

First is "Fleet Luck Value Bonus". As the name suggests, any ship or person within Zachary's allied fleet would receive a certain luck boost. As for the specific effect, it was unknown—luck was too mysterious.

Second is "Eye of Insight". It could be used on any species aboard Zachary's own starship to determine whether the other party harbored hostility or murderous intent toward him. This meant that as long as he was on his starship, Zachary was absolutely safe.

"Cadets, that's all for today's lesson. This semester is almost over, and next semester we will begin practical combat training."

"Because you are all Starship Commander Department students, you will need to own your own starship by then."

"This starship can be purchased by yourselves, or it can be exchanged with academy points."

"The crew members on the starship can be students from other departments within the academy, or they can be crew members you hire yourselves, as long as they comply with relevant regulations."

The instructor announced this matter and then left the classroom.

The matter the instructor had announced was about the curriculum for the next semester—every student needed to prepare their own starship.

Those with family backing could buy one themselves. Those who were less wealthy could use the academy points accumulated over the past three years to exchange for a starship from the academy's starship list.

Immediately, every student began discussing the starship they were preparing.

"Let me tell you, my dad already prepared a T2-class Interstellar Destroyer for me. It's this year's latest improved model—the best-selling starship of the past decade."

"Tsk. You know what a man's true romance is? Massive starships and massive cannons! If you're going to pilot something, pilot an Interstellar Battleship! That's a real man's toy!"

"Your families are rich, but mine isn't. I'll just get an Interstellar Frigate to complete my studies."

Listening to the discussions of the surrounding students, Zachary couldn't help but fantasize about his own starship. As a boy, who didn't dream of traversing the universe?

"Hey Zach, have you decided what starship to get? You need to prepare quickly. Although the academy offers plenty of exchangeable starships, if you wait too long, all the good ones will be gone."

"What's more, you still need to form a crew." Levi Warren leaned over to Zachary.

Zachary casually asked, "How are your preparations going?"

Levi grinned and raised his hand. On his wrist was a thin, watch-like handheld terminal, from which a holographic projection displayed a 3D model of a starship.

Its appearance was relatively traditional, similar to ancient naval warships. Several main cannons and missile launchers were visible on it.

"A T2 Hyena-class Medium Interstellar Destroyer—currently priced at 4.3 million star coins on the market!"

"My dad ordered it for me, and he even arranged the crew—all retired veterans with over ten years of service!" After Levi finished speaking, he seemed to recall something.

He looked at Zachary with concern and said, "Look, Zach… if you really can't find a suitable starship in the academy's warehouse, I'll ask my dad to help you…"

"It's fine. I already have an idea about the starship. We'll go pick up my starship after dinner." Zachary smiled.

Levi's family background was good—they were responsible for interstellar trade and were said to be among the top ten in the Star Glory Empire's Northern Star Region. So it was no surprise that he could produce a T2 Hyena-class Destroyer worth four million star coins.

After their casual chat, Zachary and Levi went to the academy cafeteria together.

On the way, Levi saw Zachary looking distracted and assumed he was still thinking about the starship.

In fact, Zachary's status was no less than Levi's—because Zachary's father had passed away early, and Zachary had already inherited a "Baron" title and owned a galaxy territory.

However, the galaxy territory Zachary owned was extremely resource-poor. It was also a single-star system, which meant a Star Gate could not be built. If a galaxy had no Star Gate and no special resources, it could basically be labeled worthless.

Zachary's baron title came from his great-grandfather, who was once an Imperial Army Fleet Commander in the Star Glory Empire. He earned military honors and was granted an Earl title and a fiefdom.

But by the generation of Zachary's grandfather and father, neither of them achieved merits sufficient to elevate or consolidate their title, causing it to drop level by level until it became a Baron title by Zachary's time.

If he did not earn further merits in his hands, his descendants would not be able to inherit the title, and the territory would be reclaimed by the Empire.

Given Zachary's current situation, it was basically hopeless.

It was said that in Zachary's galaxy, there wasn't even a single T2-class starship. The galaxy's security was maintained by only a few ancient T1-class starships. Fortunately, due to the galaxy's poverty, no interstellar pirates coveted it.

In the past, Levi often wanted to help Zachary, but Zachary was strong-willed and never accepted help from others.

"Hey… Zach, let's sit over there."

Suddenly, Levi put his arm around Zachary's shoulder, trying to steer him down a different path, as if intentionally avoiding something.

But the person Levi didn't want Zachary to see, Zachary had already seen.

"Jessica Shae."

Zachary's fiancée—theoretically speaking…

However, at this moment, Zachary's fiancée, Jessica Shae, was with a boy. Anyone who knew Jessica knew that boy was pursuing her.

Levi covered his face. 'What an ironic twist of fate—how could they run into this woman everywhere?'

He knew that Zachary and Jessica had grown up together because Jessica and Zachary were from the same hometown, the same galaxy. Jessica's family was a noble family in Zachary's territory, so the two had been engaged since childhood.

However, ever since Jessica and Zachary entered this academy together, everything changed.

Because in the academy, there were boys with more prominent status than Zachary, and boys who were more generous. In comparison, Zachary could only be considered a fallen noble from a backwater.

Zachary initially still liked Jessica very much, but Jessica's actions hurt him again and again. Zachary even tried to win her back, but he was met with Jessica's cold and cruel treatment.

Levi knew that Zachary was heartbroken by this—several times he couldn't even eat.

What Levi didn't know was that just today, due to emotional distress, the original owner of this body had taken medicine to commit suicide, which led to the current Zachary.

"The window seat over there is good. Let's sit there." Zachary rejected Levi's suggestion and walked straight ahead.

To outsiders, Zachary was walking directly toward Jessica Shae.
