The path away from the lake was quieter. The music from the party faded behind them. Ares walked next to Vessara as they kept a steady pace.
"So what do you do? Outside of parties you don't want to come to?" Ares asked.
Vessara laughed. "I'm schooling and working. That's about it. I don't have much else going on right now."
"So you're sort of an introvert?" Ares asked.
Vessara thought for a moment. "If that means valuing my quiet time over being in crowded places, then yes."
Ares laughed. "I figured. When I spotted you earlier, you looked like someone who had been forced to come to the party."
"I agreed to come," Vessara replied.
They walked a few more steps in silence. The only sounds were their shoes on the dirt and the distant thrum of music.
Then Vessara spoke.
"So who is Ares?" she asked.
Ares tried to think. He had never been asked that question so directly. "Hmmmm…Ares is carefree," he answered.
"So are you schooling too?" she asked.
"No."
