Finally, Ares looked at her. His voice came out quieter this time, strained beneath the anger. "Yes. Vael's…family."
Vessara stared at him blankly. "What?"
"I only found out recently. I didn't know how to tell you." Ares admitted.
Her eyes widened slowly as the pieces refused to fit together in her head. Family? The stranger she'd slept with? The man she couldn't stop thinking about? Ares knew him.
Her hand rose instinctively to cover her mouth as she stepped backward from both of them. "No way…"
Everything suddenly felt strange. Embarrassing. Wrong.
Ares immediately tried approaching her. "Vess—"
Vael caught his wrist before he could touch her. The movement was fast enough to make her flinch.
"Leave, we'll discuss this at home," Vael said coldly.
Ares jerked his arm free instantly. "At home?" he repeated in disbelief. "You really want to act like this is normal?"
