"You want to tell me what that was?" Theon closed the door behind him. He leaned against it and folded his arms.
Vael's jaw tightened. He finished loosening his tie, then let his hand fall. "It was a presentation."
"It was a bloodbath. Dominic might need to update his resumè tonight."
"Then he'll learn to do better."
Theon pushed off the door. He walked to the front of the desk. "You've been grumpy since you resumed work."
This time, Vael turned fully. His cold gaze snapped to Theon. "It's none of your business."
"See, that's where you're wrong." Theon planted both hands on the desk, leaned forward. "Everyone is having a bad day at work because you're not in a good mood. That's not an opinion. That's a fact. I had three people ask me this morning if they should be looking for new jobs."
Vael was silent. Theon waited. But silence stretched. Theon could see the way Vael's expression shifted just for a moment, just long enough to betray that something was bothering him.
