Chapter 5 - SPECIAL CHAPTER I: The Celestial Weave

In the world of Magusrealm, magic does not come from bloodlines or training—it is bestowed during a sacred phenomenon known as the Celestial Weave.

This annual event occurs only when the Moon reaches its pinnacle, and the land becomes saturated with ambient mana. On this night, people of all ages gather in chosen sanctuaries or open grounds under the moonlight to perform a solemn rite known as the Whispering Rites.

Though the prime window lies between the ages of ten and eighteen, the Moon's choice is never absolute. On rare occasions, individuals are marked with Arkan before their tenth year or well after their eighteenth. These anomalies are viewed as either miraculous blessings or unsettling mysteries, yet the peak of possibility remains firmly within those eight years.

The ritual itself consists of three parts: a declaration of identity, an unveiling of the soul (often a truth, guilt, or desire), and a vow of use—a personal promise of how the magic, if granted, will be wielded. After the rite is spoken, they wait in stillness for heaven to respond.

If chosen, the individual is silently marked by invisible threads that descend from the sky and anchor to their inner core. Normally, when an Arkan thread is received, it connects to the nucleus of the mana pool. Once the Arkan is fully linked to the nucleus, a soft glow radiates from the skin—a visible sign that the Arkan has acknowledged them. This glow lingers for two to three days.

During this phase, now called the Threaded Period, the chosen—referred to as Arkan-bearers—begin passively absorbing mana from their surroundings. Once their internal mana pool is full, the threads are triggered, unleashing a sudden and often overwhelming manifestation known as the Awakening.

The Awakening determines the nature of the individual's Arkan: their magical affinity, form, and capabilities. No two Arkans are identical, and each bears a deep connection to the bearer's soul and the vow spoken under the Moon.

Because of their gifts, Arkan-bearers often ascend to positions of influence and leadership. They become guardians, scholars, or elites in various fields. As a result, society has slowly shaped itself around a hierarchy where power is privilege. Those who are not chosen—the Threadless—are often seen as lesser. Though not officially outlawed or oppressed, the Threadless face exclusion, limited opportunities, and subtle forms of discrimination.

In some regions, Threadless individuals live in distinct districts or are barred from entering certain institutions. In others, they are quietly tolerated but rarely elevated. The divide is unspoken yet ever-present, casting a long shadow on what should be a sacred and personal rite.

For many, the Celestial Weave is a dream.

For others, it is the night that decides whether they are destined for greatness—or left behind in a world that values light over silence.
