Chapter 1 - Slaves

[Mary Geoise, Holy Land]

On a quiet, sunlit afternoon, a man lay unconscious in a narrow alleyway, his still form stark against the warm glow of the day. He was lean yet tall, his dark black hair was slightly unkempt, falling over his face in uneven strands that framed his sharp features. The man dressed in shabby white robes fastened with a black belt.

Anybody walking past would've instantly thought of him as a starved man yet no one had noticed him till now.

As the mysterious mad remained unconscious, footsteps could be heard approaching the alleyway where he laid. It was a hideous looking man, supposedly a noble with light brown hair styled with a distinct curl at the top. Following him closely were 4 royal guards as well a slave he forced to walk on all fours ahead of him.

Whilst abusing the innocent slave in front of him, the arrogant noble turned his head towards the alleyway instantly noticing the man laid beside a wall.

"What kind of dirty thing is allowed to be freely sleeping in these noble lands?" questioned the noble in disgust.

Pointing at one of his guards, he commanded.

"You, bring him to me"

Nodding his head, the guard slowly approached the man in the alleyway. In the meantime the noble sat on top his slave. His heavy weight put strain on the slave below him yet he did not dare make a complaint.

The royal guard got a closer look at the man, noticing his eyebags and appearance. He became more alert once he noticed the katana held within the man's right hand.

However, a celestial dragon's command weren't to be questioned so he attempted to seize the blade as he knelt down and reached for it with his hand.

His breath halted for a moment as he heard a voice right beside him.

"I'd suggest you back away at this instant," warned the unknown man "I do not know who you are yet you dare attempt to seize my blade"

Although startled, the guard ignored him and continued reaching for the blade. That didn't last long unfortunately as the man moved in inhuman speeds and tightly clutched the guard's neck, slamming him against the wall.

"Not a smart one, I see" said the man.

The guard groaned in pain as his back ached from the sheer power in which the man threw him against the wall. Slowly opening his eyes, he looked at the man's eyes and dread filled deeply in his soul.

The mysterious man had eyes like no other, eyes so dark he looked inhuman as darkness filled every inch of his eyes leaving no light to be seen.

Just outside the alleyway, the noble's patience thinned as he commanded for his guard to hurry up "How long do you think I should wait here!?!"

The alleyway was covered in darkness as the shade prevented the noble from being to witness what was taking his guard so long to do.

Metal could be heard scraping on the ground as the noble saw two figures appear out of the alleyway.

The man held the guard tightly by his neck with his left hand and a blade with his right.

The man stepped out from the shadows of the alley, his presence emerging as dim light caught the edges of his form. First came the faint glint of a blade held low in his right hand. Then, his other hand tightened into view, gripping his guard by the throat and dragging him with effortless control.

As he moved forward, more of him was revealed, tattered, dark robes brushing against the ground. Long black hair falling across a sharp, unreadable face and eyes so cold it could kill. The guard struggled weakly, but the man didn't even look at him.

"W-who are you?" questioned the noble in fear.

He was of course ignored in response.

"Answer me bastard, I-I demand it"

This time he received a response, "This man attempted to steal my blade" stated the man as he effortlessly threw the guard towards the noble who fell off the slave in shock.

With great effort, the noble tried to get up but his weight was a so immense he struggled.

"What are you idiots standing around for? Help me damn it!"

The guards knocked out of their stupor, instantly helped the fat noble up on his feet.

"You two, bring him to me"

Nodding, the two guards approached the man with spears in hand.

"Hehe, I'll make a good slave out of you"

As the guards approached, they all but heard one word.

Magatsumi

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I activated Magatsumi, a black liquid flowed from out of the blade. When it touched the ground, flowers of all sorts bloomed in the vicinity rapidly.

I grew tired of this fat thing quickly in front of me, my head already ached in pain, I hadn't felt like that before wielding Magatsumi which made me even more aggravated.

Why I am I here?

The flower field spread instantaneously as the both guards and the noble's feet made contact with the field.

They screamed in agony as flowers and branches begin to grow out of their skin and mouth, killing them from the inside out as the flowers drain their vitality. The last thing they all saw was Akemura's eyes which weren't even looking at them, as though they were a but an ant crawling on the ground.

The slave sat there frozen in horror at what had taken place.

How strange, these humans don't have a speck of spirit energy.

Unbothered by the screams, Akemura looked around noticing the unfamiliar design of the buildings.

This isn't anywhere in Japan, or to my knowledge Earth in general.

The screams died down as the last wisp of life left their bodies and used as fuel for Akemura's body. 18 years of confinement had left his body in a weakened state but it was futile in front of Magatsumi's power.

Akemura's body rapidly recovered as his frame filled out, he no longer looked like a starved man.

Now then, let's see exactly where I am.

Slowly, Akemura feet left the ground as he flew up in the air. He wasn't in a rush so he took his time looking around.

Through his extraordinary perception, Akemura sensed everything, every movement, every pulse of life stretching endlessly beneath him as he hovered high in the sky. The wind blew around him whipping through his hair and tugging at his clothes. Each gust carried whispers of the world below, and he observed them all.

Suspended between earth and sky, he radiated an overwhelming yet chilling presence. One which had not gone unnoticed.

Akemura noticed the sheer number of slaves that were being abused, he felt utter disgust. He thought about completely annihilating this place off the map but he felt a strong presence so he grew curious. Instead he'd reap the lives of those that he could quickly.

Let's bring the wasps out their nest.

With deliberate calm, Akemura unsheathed Magatsumi as he prepared to unleash hell upon those he declared unworthy of living. The blade slid free with a quiet, ominous whisper. The wind stirred faintly around him, as his robes fluttered.

Akemura held Magatsumi vertically parallel to himself and the shadows around his eyes darkened even more, and various insect constructs of spirit energy appeared around the blade.

He raised Magatsumi, holding it downward, perfectly parallel to his body. Shadows gathered beneath his eyes. Around the blade, shapes began to form as a result of his and Magatsumi's spirit energy, taking on the eerie likeness of black insects.

There was but a brief silence before mass destruction.

In a composed voice, Akemura simply said one word that would bring the demise of thousands.

Malediction

The ground seemed to shake, unnatural flowers spread rapidly across majority of Mary Geoise, pushing through cracks, stone, and dirt alike. Within seconds, they covered everything, stretching farther than the eye could follow. Screams followed seconds after.

Then the draining began.

At first, the celestial dragons only staggered, confused, questioning why this phenomenon had occurred. But that confusion quickly turned into panic and unimaginable agony. Their bodies grew heavy, their breaths uneven, their legs giving out beneath them.

Some tried to run but they could not run something that already engulfed them.

All around Mary Geoise, nobles and guards alike collapsed one after another, their vitality being pulled away at a terrifying speed. The flowers pulsed faintly, feeding off it like fuel, more alive with every second that passed.

And yet, somehow in the midst of all this destruction the slaves were untouched.

The flowers never reached them. While everything else was being drained, the innocent stood there shaken but unharmed.

It didn't last long, it was over within a few minutes.

The alleyways and open spaces that were once filled with life had gone still, bodies devoid of life scattered across the ground where they had fallen. The flowers remained, as a cruel reminder.

Akemura stood at the center of it all, calm and unmoving, as if none of it had taken any effort at all, which it didn't.

Some nobles lived, protected by strong presences but it mattered not. His goal was to inflict the same pain in which these slaves had suffered to their supposed masters.
